قَالَ لِنَفَرٍ عِنْدَهُ وَ أَنَا حَاضِرٌ مَا لَكُمْ تَسْتَخِفُّونَ بِنَا قَالَ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ خُرَاسَانَ فَقَالَ مَعَاذٌ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ أَنْ نَسْتَخِفَّ بِكَ أَوْ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ أَمْرِكَ[1] فَقَالَ بَلَى إِنَّكَ أَحَدُ مَنِ اسْتَخَفَّ بِي فَقَالَ مَعَاذٌ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ أَنْ أَسْتَخِفَّ بِكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ وَيْحَكَ أَ وَ لَمْ تَسْمَعْ فُلَاناً وَ نَحْنُ بِقُرْبِ الْجُحْفَةِ وَ هُوَ يَقُولُ لَكَ احْمِل
