Ahmad ibn Muhammad has narrated from ibn Faddal from abu Jamilah from Muhammad ibn Ali al-Halabiy who has said the following: “I once asked Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), if a man is required to ask permission from his father. He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, I would ask permission from my father and my mother was not with him. She was my father’s wife. My mother had died when I was a boy. I did not like to disturb their privacy and they also did not like it. It is very correct and fine to say Salam (the phrase of offering greeting of peace).'"

So when he saww ended up to the door, he saww placed his saww hand upon it and knocked it, then said: ‘The greetings be upon you asws !’ So Fatima asws said: ‘And the greetings be upon you saww , O Rasool-Allah saww !’ He saww said: ‘Can I saww enter?’ She asws said: ‘Enter, O Rasool-Allah saww !’ He saww said: ‘Can I saww enter and the one who is with me saww ?’ So she asws said: ‘O Rasool-Allah saww ! There is no scarf upon me asws ’. So he saww said: ‘O Fatima asws ! Take the excess of your asws bed spread, so cover your asws head with it’. So she asws did. So he saww said: ‘O Allah azwj , Satiator of the hunger and Repeller of the loss, Satiate Fatima asws daughter asws of Muhammad saww !’ Jabir said, ‘So, by Allah azwj , I looked at the blood flowing from its flowing until her asws face returned to being red.
