1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hisham ibn al-Hakam who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), has said, ‘Drinking cold water is more delicious.’”

A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Sa‘id ibn Junah from Ahmad ibn ‘Umar al-Halabiy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), when giving advice to a man said, ‘Reduce drinking water; it may stretch all illness and refrain from taking medicine as long as your body can take the pain.’”

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Yasar al-Khadim who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’ (a.s.), has said, ‘It is not harmful to drink water after food but do not drink water excessively on things other than food.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Consider, the man who eats this much’ — he brought his hands close to each other and did not join them and did not keep them much apart - ‘then he does not drink water, his stomach may burst.’”
