بَابُ الْعَمَائِمِ‌

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَمَّنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ:

مَنْ تَعَمَّمَ وَ لَمْ يَتَحَنَّكْ فَأَصَابَهُ دَاءٌ لَا دَوَاءَ لَهُ فَلَا يَلُومَنَّ إِلَّا نَفْسَهُ.

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from those whom he has mentioned who has said the following: “Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘One who wears a turban without tahannak (allowing one end to hang down on one’s front side and the other end down one’s back side), if he faces an illness without cure he then must not blame anyone for it except his own-self.’”

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هَمَّامٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ع‌ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَ‌ مُسَوِّمِينَ‌ قَالَ

الْعَمَائِمُ اعْتَمَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص فَسَدَلَهَا مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ وَ اعْتَمَّ جَبْرَئِيلُ فَسَدَلَهَا مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ.

2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from abu Hammam who has said the following: “This is about the meaning of the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘marked angels.’ (3:125) Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), has said that it is a reference to turbans. The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, wore a turban and hanged down one end on his front side and the other end down his backside. Jibril wore a turban and hanged down one end on his front side and the other end down his back.’”

3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Faddal from abu Jamilah from Jabir who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said that the angels had turbans hanging on them on the day of Badr.”

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْعُقَيْلِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ اللَّهَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ:

عَمَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص عَلِيّاً ع بِيَدِهِ فَسَدَلَهَا مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَ قَصَّرَهَا مِنْ خَلْفِهِ قَدْرَ أَرْبَعِ أَصَابِعَ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَدْبِرْ فَأَدْبَرَ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَقْبِلْ فَأَقْبَلَ ثُمَّ قَالَ هَكَذَا تِيجَانُ الْمَلَائِكَةِ.

4. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from al-Husayn ibn Ali al-‘Aqiliy from Ali ibn abu Ali al- Lahbiy who has said the following: “The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, made Ali (a.s.), to wear turban and hanged one end down his front side but made it shorter for the end hanging down his back by four fingers. He (the Messenger of Allah) then asked him to go back which he did and then asked him to come forward which he also did and then he (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘This is how the Tijan (crown) of the angels is.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ الْعَمَائِمُ تِيجَانُ الْعَرَبِ. - وَ رُوِيَ‌ أَنَّ الطَّابِقِيَّةَ عِمَّةُ إِبْلِيسَ لَعَنَهُ اللَّهُ‌.

5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfaliy from al-Sakuniy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Turbans are the crown of Arabs.’” And it has been narrated that the Tabiqiyya is the turban of Iblis, may Allah curse him.

أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ رَفَعَهُ إِلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ:

مَنْ خَرَجَ مِنْ مَنْزِلِهِ مُعْتَمّاً تَحْتَ حَنَكِهِ يُرِيدُ سَفَراً لَمْ يُصِبْهُ فِي سَفَرِهِ سَرَقٌ وَ لَا حَرَقٌ وَ لَا مَكْرُوهٌ.

6 - Abu Ali al-Ash'ari, narrating from some of his companions, from Ali ibn al-Hakam, reported that he raised this statement to Abu Abdullah (as). He said, "Whoever leaves his home, intending a journey, with trust under his chin (meaning he has good intentions), he will not be afflicted with theft, fire, or anything disliked during his journey."

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْبَغْدَادِيِّ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ حَمْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ:

7. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Musa ibn Ja‘far al-Baghdadiy from ‘Amr ibn Sa‘id from “Isa ibn Hamzah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If one wears a turban but does not turn the turban under his chin and then suffers an incurable illness , he then must not blame anyone other than his own self.’”
