سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنْ رَجُلٍ بَدَأَ بِالْمَرْوَةِ قَبْلَ الصَّفَا قَالَ يُعِيدُ أَ لَا تَرَى أَنَّهُ لَوْ بَدَأَ بِشِمَالِهِ قَبْلَ يَمِينِهِ فِي الْوُضُوءِ أَرَادَ أَنْ يُعِيدَ الْوُضُوءَ.

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad Ali ibn al-Hakam from Ali ibn abu Hamzah who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who begins from al-Marwah before al- Safa’. He (the Imam) said, ‘He must do it again. Consider if one begins washing his left arms before the right arm for wudu’, he is required to take wudu’ again.’”

2. Abu Ali al-Ash’ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan ibn Yahya from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajjaj who has said the following: “I once asked abu Ibrahim (a.s.), about a man who performs eight instead of seven times Sa‘y between al-Safa’ and al-Marwah. He (the Imam) said, ‘If it is by mistake, he can consider the extra being dropped and count the seven.’”

إِذَا دَخَلْتَ بِأَهْلِكَ فَخُذْ بِنَاصِيَتِهَا وَ اسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ وَ قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ بِأَمَانَتِكَ أَخَذْتُهَا وَ بِكَلِمَاتِكَ اسْتَحْلَلْتُهَا فَإِنْ قَضَيْتَ لِي مِنْهَا وَلَداً فَاجْعَلْهُ مُبَارَكاً تَقِيّاً مِنْ شِيعَةِ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ لَا تَجْعَلْ لِلشَّيْطَانِ فِيهِ شِرْكاً وَ لَا نَصِيباً.

2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from abu Ayyub al-Khazzaz from abu Basir who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘When you meet your wife hold to her forehead and face al-Qiblah (al-Ka’bah) and say, ‘O Lord, in Your trust I have taken her (in marriage) and with Your words I have made her lawful. If You have destined for me from her a child, then make the child a blessed one, pious, of the Shi ’ah (followers) of the family of Muhammad and you must not make for Satan any share or portion in it (child).”’

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr from Jamil ibn Darraj who has said the following: “We performed al-Hajj as Sarurah (first time performing al-Hajj) so we performed Sa‘y between al- Safa’ and al-Marwah by fourteen times walking between al-Safa’ and al-Marwah. I asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about it. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful, seven is for you and the other seven just being dropped.’”

4. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ‘Isma‘il ibn Marrar from Yunus from Ali al-Sa‘igh who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), was asked, when I was present, about a man who begins from al- Marwah instead of from al-Safa’. He (the Imam) said, ‘He must do it again. Consider if you begin with your left arms for wudu’ instead of with your right arm, you must begin with your right arm and then do your left arm again.’”

أَتَى رَجُلٌ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع فَقَالَ لَهُ إِنِّي تَزَوَّجْتُ فَادْعُ اللَّهَ لِي فَقَالَ قُلِ- اللَّهُمَّ بِكَلِمَاتِكَ اسْتَحْلَلْتُهَا وَ بِأَمَانَتِكَ أَخَذْتُهَا اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهَا وَلُوداً وَدُوداً لَا تَفْرَكُ تَأْكُلُ مِمَّا رَاحَ وَ لَا تَسْأَلُ عَمَّا سَرَحَ‌.

4. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from abu Yusuf from al-Mithamiy in a marfu’ manner has said the following: “Once, a man came to ’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.), and said, ‘I have just married, pray for me to Allah.’ He (the Imam) said, ’Say, 0 Lord, with Your words I have made her marriage lawful and in Your trust I have taken her (in marriage); O Lord, make her child-bearing, loving and not clashing in dislike, use what is found and not ask what to bring home (this and that).”’

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Safwan ibn Yahya from Mu‘awiyah ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “He (the Imam) (a.s.), has said, ‘If one performs fifteen times instead of seven times walking between al-Safa’ and al-Marwah he drops eight Shawt (walking once between al-Safa’ and al- Marwah) and counts the seven. If he begins from al-Marwah he must drop it and begin from al- Safa’.’”

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Aban from ‘Abd af-Rahman ibn ‘ A‘yan who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘When a man wants to marry a woman he should say, “I authenticate my covenant with Allah which is: “maintain in a reasonable way or allow to go with kindness.” (2:229)’”

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa and A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from al-Qasim ibn Yahya from his grandfather, al-Hassan ibn Rashid from abu Basir who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, once asked me, ‘When one of you marries, does he know what to do?’ I replied, ‘I do not know.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘When he decides for it (marriage) he must perform two Rak’at Salat (prayer) then say, “O Lord, I want to marry so choose for me of women who is most chaste in matters of her private organs, most protective for me of herself and my assets, of most affluence in sustenance and of greatest blessing. Choose for me a fine child to be a virtuous successor in my lifetime and after my death.’” He (the Imam) said, ‘When you meet her place your hand over her forehead and say, “O Lord, according to Your book I have married her, in Your trust I have taken her (in marriage) and with Your words I have made her (private organs) lawful. If You have destined for me from her womb anything (child), then make the child a Muslim, upright and You must not make for Satan any share or portion in it (child).’ I (the narrator) then asked, ‘How can it be a share of Satan?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Mention of the name of Allah keeps Satan away. If one goes to bed without mentioning the name of Allah, he sticks his penis, the act is from both of them but the seed is one.’”
