سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنِ الْجِنَازَةِ أَ يُصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا عَلَى غَيْرِ وُضُوءٍ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ إِنَّمَا هُوَ تَكْبِيرٌ وَ تَحْمِيدٌ وَ تَسْبِيحٌ وَ تَهْلِيلٌ كَمَا تُكَبِّرُ وَ تُسَبِّحُ فِي بَيْتِكَ عَلَى غَيْرِ وُضُوءٍ.

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from ibn Faddal from Yunus ibn Ya‘qub who has said the following: “I once asked abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), about performing Salah (prayer) for a deceased without Wudu’. He (the Imam) said, ’It is permissible; it is only Takbir (Allah is great beyond description), Tahlil (no one deserves worship except Allah), Tahmid (it is Allah only who deserves all praise), Tasbih (Allah is free of all defects) and Takbir (Allah is great beyond description).
