عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ وَ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ يَاسِرٍ قَالَ:

قَالَ لِي أَبُو الْحَسَنِ ع اشْتَرِ لِنَفْسِكَ خَزّاً وَ إِنْ شِئْتَ فَوَشْياً فَقُلْتُ كُلَّ الْوَشْيِ فَقَالَ وَ مَا الْوَشْيُ قُلْتُ مَا لَمْ يَكُنْ فِيهِ قُطْنٌ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُ حَرَامٌ قَالَ الْبَسْ مَا فِيهِ قُطْنٌ.

1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from ibn Faddal and Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Yasir who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), once said to me, ‘Buy al-Khazz (garments made of skin or fur of an animal that lives in water) for yourself or if you like buy al-Washy.’ I then asked, ‘All with al- Washy?’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘ What is al-Washy ?’ I replied, ‘It is that which has no cotton in it and they say it is unlawful.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘You can wear what has cotton in it.’”

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ‌ وَ سُئِلَ عَمَّا يَجُوزُ وَ عَمَّا لَا يَجُوزُ مِنَ النِّيَّةِ عَلَى الْإِضْمَارِ فِي الْيَمِينِ فَقَالَ قَدْ يَجُوزُ فِي مَوْضِعٍ وَ لَا يَجُوزُ فِي آخَرَ فَأَمَّا مَا يَجُوزُ فَإِذَا كَانَ مَظْلُوماً فَمَا حَلَفَ بِهِ وَ نَوَى الْيَمِينَ فَعَلَى نِيَّتِهِ وَ أَمَّا إِذَا كَانَ ظَالِماً فَالْيَمِينُ عَلَى نِيَّةِ الْمَظْلُومِ.

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Harun ibn Muslim from Mas’adah ibn Sadaqah who has narrated the following: “I once heard abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), when he (the Imam) was asked about what is lawful and what is not lawful about intention and what is in one’s mind, saying, ‘In certain times it is lawful and in certain times it is not lawful. The lawful case is when one is oppressed in which case his oath is based on his intention. If one coerces then it is on the basis of the intention of the oppressed.’”

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ’Isma‘il ibn Sa‘d al-Ash‘ariy who has narrated the following: “I once asked al-Rida’ (a.s.), about the case of a man who swears but his mind is on something other than what he has taken oath for. He (the Imam) said, ‘The oath is for that which is in one’s mind.’”
