نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص أَنْ يُبَاتَ عَلَى سَطْحٍ غَيْرِ مُحَجَّرٍ.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, prohibited sleeping on the flat roof without a safety fencing wall around it.’”
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَنْ بَاتَ عَلَى سَطْحٍ غَيْرِ مُحَجَّرٍ فَأَصَابَهُ شَيْءٌ فَلَا يَلُومَنَّ إِلَّا نَفْسَهُ.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘One who sleeps on a flat roof without a safety fencing walls around it and if something happened to him, he must not blame anyone except his own soul.”’
أَنَّهُ كَرِهَ أَنْ يَبِيتَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى سَطْحٍ لَيْسَتْ عَلَيْهِ حُجْرَةٌ وَ الرَّجُلُ وَ الْمَرْأَةُ فِي ذَلِكَ سَوَاءٌ.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), disliked a man’s sleeping overnight on a flat roof without safety fencing wall around it. It is the same for both men women.’”
أَنَّهُ كَرِهَ الْبَيْتُوتَةَ لِلرَّجُلِ عَلَى سَطْحٍ وَحْدَهُ أَوْ عَلَى سَطْحٍ لَيْسَتْ عَلَيْهِ حُجْرَةٌ وَ الرَّجُلُ وَ الْمَرْأَةُ فِيهِ بِمَنْزِلَةٍ.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), disliked a man’s sleeping alone overnight on a flat roof without safety fencing wall around it; and that it is the same for both men and women.’”
يُجْزِيهِ أَنْ يَكُونَ مِقْدَارُ ارْتِفَاعِ الْحَائِطِ ذِرَاعَيْنِ.
“About the case of a flat roof without fencing wall around it abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If the height of the fencing wall around a flat roof is two yards (Zira’ arm-length) it is sufficient.’”
سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنِ السَّطْحِ يُنَامُ عَلَيْهِ بِغَيْرِ حُجْرَةٍ قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ ثَلَاثَةِ حِيطَانٍ فَقَالَ لَا إِلَّا أَرْبَعَةً قُلْتُ كَمْ طُولُ الْحَائِطِ قَالَ أَقْصَرُهُ ذِرَاعٌ وَ شِبْرٌ.
“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about sleeping overnight on a flat roof without fencing wall around it.
