It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from Sharif ibn Sabiq from al-Fadl ibn Abu Qurrah from Abu Qurrah from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Once, a man wrote al-Husayn (a.s.) asking, ‘Instruct me with good advice in two letters.’ The Imam wrote back to him, ‘Whoever seeks to acquire something by means of what angers Allah (his deed as such) will be most harmful to his hopes and most hastening to the coming of that which frightens him.’”

4. Abu Ali al-Ash’ari has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan from al-‘Ala’ from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said, ‘There is no religion for one who pledges obedience to someone who disobeys God, nor for one who holds to a false claim about God, nor for one who denies any of the signs of God.’”

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfali from al-Sakuni from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) from his father from Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah (al-Ansari) who has said the following: “The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Whoever seeks the pleasure of a king by a means that anger Allah, has moved out of the religion of Allah.’”

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father and a number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad all from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn abu Nasr from Aban from a man from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "There are five things—if you encounter them, seek refuge with Allah (Mighty and Majestic) from them: No people ever manifest indecency (fāḥishah) publicly except that plague and illnesses not known to their forefathers will spread among them; They do not cheat in weights and measures except that they are afflicted with famine, hardship in livelihood, and the tyranny of rulers; They do not withhold zakāt except that rain is withheld from the sky- and were it not for the animals, they would not be given rain at all; They do not break the covenant of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and the covenant of His Messenger except that Allah empowers an enemy over them who takes some of what is in their hands; And they do not judge by other than what Allah has revealed except that He causes strife and conflict among them.’”
