9. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father and Muhammad ibn Isma’il from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan all from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hisham ibn al-Hakam who has said the following: “I observed (Imam) Musa (a.s.), offer condolences before and after burial.”

10. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from ibn Mehran who said: “Abu Ja’far, the second (a.s.), wrote to a man: You mentioned your affliction with the loss of your son ʿAlī, and you mentioned that he was the most beloved of your children to you. Likewise, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, only takes from the parent and others the purest of what they have to magnify the reward of the one afflicted by the calamity. May Allah magnify your reward, grant you the best of solace, and strengthen your heart, for He is capable. May Allah hasten for you a replacement, and I hope that Allah has already done so; if Allah wills, exalted be He.’”

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from his father from Wahab who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah has said, ‘If one offers condolences to a depressed person, one will have a reward equal to his (depressed person’s) reward without any reduction in the reward for the latter, the sorrowful party.’”
