3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn ‘Isma’il who has said the following: “A man once asked al-Rida’, Alayhi al-Salam, when I was listening, about the case of a man who married a woman in the manner of al-Mut‘ah (advantageous marriage) with the condition that he was not to support her child. She thereafter brought a child to him and he strongly denied the child. He (the Imam) said, ‘Does he deny it because of its greatness?’ The man replied, ‘He accuses her (of wrong doing).’ He (the Imam) said, it is not proper for you to marry anyone other than believing, Muslim female because Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, says, “The fornicator cannot marry but a female fornicator or a female pagan and a female fornicator cannot marry anyone other than a male fornicator or a pagan and it is unlawful to believing people.” (23:3)’”

A number of our companions reported from Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Barqī, from Dāwūd ibn Isḥāq al-Ḥadhdhā’, from Muḥammad ibn al-Faiḍ, who said: I asked Abā ʿAbdillāh al-Sadiq (as) about temporary marriage (mutʿah), and he said: "Yes, if she is knowledgeable." I said: "May I be sacrificed for you, and if she is not knowledgeable?" He said: "Then present the matter to her and say to her, if she accepts, then marry her; but if she refuses to accept your proposal, then leave her. Beware of the 'kawāshif', the 'dawāʿī', the 'baghayā', and the women with husbands." I asked: "What are the 'kawāshif'?" He said: "Those who reveal themselves, and their homes are known and accessible." I said: "And the 'dawāʿī'?" He said: "Those who invite others to themselves and are known for their corruption." I asked: "And the 'baghayā'?" He said: "Those known for fornication." I asked: "And the women with husbands?" He said: "The divorced women who are not in accordance with the Sunnah."
