Muhammad ibn Y ahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from his father from Ayyub ibn al-Hurr brother of ‘Udaym from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Whoever says, ‘O Allah, ten times, it will be said to him, ‘ Labbayka ’ (your call for help is well heard and noted). What kind of help do you need?”’

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hammad ibn ‘Uthaman from al-Halabiy who has said the following: “This is concerning my question before abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who with the intention to fast wakes up in the morning, then for a certain reason decides not to fast. He (the Imam) said, ‘Until midday it is his choice to fast or not to fast.’ I then asked, ‘Is he required to make Qada’ (compensatory fast) for such fast if he discontinues it?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, it is a valid deed that he intended to do and he should complete it.’ I then asked, ‘Can a man who, when the day is up, decide to fast, do so?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, it is permissible for him to do so.’”

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hammad who has narrated the following: “I once asked abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who divorces his wife when he is absent. When must his wife commence her ‘Iddah (waiting period )? He (the Imam) said, ‘If just testimony is established for his divorcing her on a known day which gives her certainty, she must commence her ‘Iddah (waiting period) from the day she is divorced; but if she is not certain then she must commence her ‘Iddah from the day she is informed.’”

1. Al-Husayn from Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad from al-Hassan ibn Afi af-Washsha’ from Jamif ibn Darraj and Muhammad ibn Humran who has narrated the foiiowing: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The free and slaves do not inherit each other.’”

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Fadalah ibn Ayyub from al-Husayn ibn ‘Uthman from Sama‘ah ibn Mehran from abu Basir who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) about a man who fasts an optional fast but he faces a certain issue of his needs.“ He (the Imam) replied, ‘He has the choice until al-‘Asr (later afternoon). If he waits until al-‘Asr and then it occurs to him to fast, if he did not have the intention for fasting, he can fast that day, if he wishes.’”

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr, from ‘Umar ibn ‘Udhaynah, from Zurarah and Muhammad ibn Muslim and Burayd ibn Mu’awiyah ibn ‘Ammar who has narrated the following: “About the case of one who is absent if he divorces his wife abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ‘She must commence her ‘Iddah (waiting period) from the day he has divorced her.’”

2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad and Afi ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father all from ibn abu Najran from Muhammad ibn Humran who has narrated the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The free and slaves do not inherit each other.’”

Ahmad ibn Muhammad from has narrated from al-‘Abbas ibn Ma‘ruf from Safwan ibn Yahya from ibn Sinan from ‘Ammar ibn Marwan from Sama‘ah ibn Mehran, from abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) regarding his saying, ‘A fasting person has the choice until Zawal (declining of the sun toward the west at noontime)’. He said: ‘It is about the obligatory (fast). In the case of the optional (fast), one has the choice to stop fasting any time up to sunset.’”

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from al-Jamuraniy from al-Hassan ibn Ali ibn abu Hamzah from Zur’ah from Sanaa ‘ah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘There are many kinds of Suht (unlawful and filthy). Of such matters is income from cupping on the basis of a condition (for payment), payment for indecent acts of (sexual) relation and payment for wine. Accepting a bribe is however, disbelief in Allah, most Great.’”

A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from ibn abu Nasr from al-Muthanna’ from Zurarah who has narrated the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who divorces his wife when he is absent. When must she commence her ‘Iddah (waiting period)? He (the Imam) said, ‘If testimony is established that he has divorced on a known day, of a known month, she must commence her ‘Iddah (waiting period) from that day; but if she cannot ascertain the date, then she must commence her ‘Iddah (waiting period) from the day she is informed.’”

3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Afi ibn af-Hakam from al-‘Ala’ ibn Razin from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has narrated the following: “One of the two Imam, (abu Ja‘far or abu ‘Abd Allah), ‘Alayhim al-Salam, has said, ‘The free and slaves do not inherit each other.’”

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn ‘Isma‘il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from all from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajjaj who has said the following: “This is about the case of one who only after it is day light, decides to fast that day as Qada’ (compensatory fast) for the fast of the month of Ramadan. He did not have such intention in the night. Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), has said that he can fast that day and count it, if nothing invalidating has taken place before.”

4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Sinan from ibn Muskan from Yazid ibn Farqad who has said the following: “This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about Suht (unlawful and filthy). He (the Imam) said, ‘It is accepting a bribe to issue a judgment.’”

4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from Shu’ayb ibn Ya’qub from abu Basir who has narrated the following: “Once, abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), was asked about the case of a man who divorces his wife. He informs her about it only after one year. He (the Imam) said, ‘If two just witness testify to prove it, she does not need to complete any ‘Iddah (waiting period), otherwise, she must commence her ‘Iddah (waiting period) from the day she is informed.’”

4. Humayd ibn Ziyad has narrated from al-Hassan ibn Muhammad ibn Sama‘ah, from Ja‘far ibn Sama‘ah from al-Hassan ibn Hudhayfah from Jamil from al-Fudayf ibn Yasar who has narrated the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘A slave does not inherit and a free person does not inherit from a slave.’” (It is because a slave does not own anything.)

5. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-FIassan ibn Mahbub from al=FIarith ibn Muhammad from Burayd al- ‘ Ij liy who has said the following: “I once asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about a man who when fasting as Qada’ (compensatory fast) for the fast of the month of Ramadan goes to his wife for sexual relation. He (the Imam) said, ‘If it takes place before Zawal (declining of the sun toward the west at noontime), he is not obligated for anything. It is only one day for one day. If it happens after Zawal (declining of the sun toward the west at noontime), he is required to pay charity to ten destitute people, and if he is not able to do so, he is required to fast one day for one day and fast three days as expiation for what he has done.’”

Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Bandar has narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Muhammad ibn Ali from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn abu Hashim from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad ibn al-Walid al-‘Ammariy from Ibrahim al-Asamm from Misma’ ibn ‘Abd al-Malik from abu ‘Abd Allah al-‘Amiriy who has said the following: “This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about payment for dogs that do not hunt. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is Suht (unlawful and filthy), however, payment for a hunting dog is not Suht (unlawful and filthy).”’

5. Muhammad ibn Ahmad has narrated from Ali ibn al-Hakam from al-‘Ala’ ibn Razin from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has narrated the following: “Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said, ‘If a man divorces his wife when he is absent he must appoint witnesses. When three Hayd (menses)-free periods pass from that time her ‘Iddah (waiting period) is complete.’”

6. Ahmad ibn Muhammad from has narrated from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Fadalah ibn Ayyub from al-Husayn ibn ‘Uthman from Sama‘ah, from abu Basir who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a woman who fasts as Qada’ (compensatory fast) for the fast of the month of Ramadan and her husband forces her to invalidate her fast. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not proper for him to do so after Zawal (declining of the sun toward the west at noontime)/”

6. Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from Salih ibn abu Hammad from more than one person from al-Shu’ayriy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If one works the whole night without giving the eyes their share of sleep, such earning is unlawful.’”

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu Nasr who has narrated the following: “Abu al-Hassan al-Rida’ (a.s.), has said, ‘If proof is established that she was divorced on such and such date which proves the expiration of her ‘Iddah (waiting period) she becomes a stranger for him.’”

7. Ahmad ibn Muhammad has narrated from ibn Faddal from Salih ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Khath’amiy who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who decides to fast, then he meets his brother who believes as he does; if he can discontinue his fast. He (the Imam) said, ‘If it is optional it will be counted as one day of fasting in his favor, but if it is obligatory Qada’ (compensatory fast), he must do its Qada’ (compensatory fast).”’

7. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn al-Hassan ibn Shammun from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Asamm from Misma’ ibn ‘Abd al-Malik who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If a technician remains awake the whole night working, his earning becomes Suht (unlawful and filthy).’”

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Musa ibn Bakr al-Wasitiy from Zurarah who has narrated the following: “Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ‘If one divorces his wife when he is absent and proof is established to prove such divorce, her ‘Iddah (waiting period) commences from the day he has divorced her.’”

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfaliy from al-Sakuniy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, prohibited earning of slave-girls because if they cannot find work, they fornicate, except for a slave-girl who knows a skill and she is better than a slave-boy who due to not knowing any skills, when unable to find work steals.’”

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn ‘Isma’il from Muhammad ibn al-Fudayl from abu al-Sabbah al-Kinaniy who has narrated the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has stated this Hadith. ‘If a man divorces his wife when he is absent and testimony is established to prove the date of such divorce, she can commence her ‘Iddah (waiting period) from the day her husband had divorced her. If it is not proved then she must commence her ‘Iddah (waiting period) from the time she is informed.’”
