The Case of One Who Discontinues Sa‘y for Salat (Prayer) or Performs Sa‘y Without Wudu

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع الرَّجُلُ يَدْخُلُ فِي السَّعْيِ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَ الْمَرْوَةِ فَيَدْخُلُ وَقْتُ الصَّلَاةِ أَ يُخَفِّفُ أَوْ يَقْطَعُ وَ يُصَلِّي وَ يَعُودُ أَوْ يَثْبُتُ كَمَا هُوَ عَلَى حَالِهِ حَتَّى يَفْرُغَ قَالَ أَ وَ لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِمَا مَسْجِدٌ[1] لَا بَلْ يُصَلِّي ثُمَّ يَعُودُ قُلْتُ يَجْلِسُ عَلَيْهِمَا قَالَ أَ وَ لَيْسَ هُوَ ذَا يَسْعَى عَلَى الدَّوَابِّ.

قُلْتُ لَهُ الرَّجُلُ يَسْعَى بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَ الْمَرْوَةِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَشْوَاطٍ أَوْ أَرْبَعَةً ثُمَّ يَبُولُ أَ يُتِمُّ سَعْيَهُ بِغَيْرِ وُضُوءٍ قَالَ لَا بَأْسَ وَ لَوْ أَتَمَّ نُسُكَهُ بِوُضُوءٍ كَانَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيَّ.

“I once asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.), about a man who performs three or four times Sa‘y between al-Safa’ and al-Marwah. He then urinates: if he can perform Sa‘y without wudu’. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful but if he can complete the acts with wudu’, it would be more beloved to me.”

إِذَا فَرَغْتَ مِنْ سَعْيِكَ وَ أَنْتَ مُتَمَتِّعٌ فَقَصِّرْ مِنْ شَعْرِكَ مِنْ جَوَانِبِهِ وَ لِحْيَتِكَ وَ خُذْ مِنْ شَارِبِكَ وَ قَلِّمْ أَظْفَارَكَ وَ أَبْقِ مِنْهَا لِحَجِّكَ وَ إِذَا فَعَلْتَ ذَلِكَ فَقَدْ أَحْلَلْتَ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ يُحِلُّ مِنْهُ الْمُحْرِمُ وَ أَحْرَمْتَ مِنْهُ فَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ تَطَوُّعاً مَا شِئْتَ.[1]

“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘When you complete your Sa‘y between al-Safa’ and al- Marwah and you are for al-Hajj al-Tamattu‘ (advantageous), you must do Taqsir (cutting some hair or finger nails and so on).
