رَأَيْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ع أَحَلَّ مِنْ عُمْرَتِهِ وَ أَخَذَ مِنْ أَطْرَافِ شَعْرِهِ كُلِّهِ عَلَى الْمُشْطِ ثُمَّ أَشَارَ إِلَى شَارِبِهِ فَأَخَذَ مِنْهُ الْحَجَّامُ ثُمَّ أَشَارَ إِلَى أَطْرَافِ لِحْيَتِهِ فَأَخَذَ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ قَامَ.

“I saw abu al-Hassan (a.s.), come out of the state of Ihram of al-‘Umrah. He (the Imam) had taken from the side of his hairs all around by the help of a comb. He (the Imam) then pointed to his mustache and the barber took a certain amount from them. He (the Imam) then pointed to his beard and the barber took a certain

سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ وَ يَسْعَى أَ يَتَطَوَّعُ بِالطَّوَافِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُقَصِّرَ قَالَ مَا يُعْجِبُنِي‌[2].

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who performs Tawaf around the House and Sa‘y between al-Safa’ and al-Marwah; if he can perform an optional Tawaf before Taqsir (cutting some hair or finger nails and so on). He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not admirable to me.’”

فِي مُحْرِمٍ يُقَصِّرُ مِنْ بَعْضٍ وَ لَا يُقَصِّرُ مِنْ بَعْضٍ قَالَ يُجْزِئُهُ‌[3].

“About a man who performs Taqsir (cutting some hair or finger nails and so on) of certain parts but not of other parts, he (the Imam) said, ‘It is sufficient for him.”

لَمَّا أَرَادَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الرِّضَا ع أَنْ يُقَصِّرَ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ لِلْعُمْرَةِ أَرَادَ الْحَجَّامُ أَنْ يَأْخُذَ مِنْ جَوَانِبِ الرَّأْسِ فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْدَأْ بِالنَّاصِيَةِ فَبَدَأَ بِهَا.

“When abu Ja‘far, ibn al-Rida’ (a.s.), wanted to do Taqsir (cutting some hair or finger nails and so on) after al-‘Umrah, the barber wanted to take from the sides of his head but he (the Imam) said, ‘Take from the side of the forehead and the barber did accordingly.’”

سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ مُتَمَتِّعٍ قَرَضَ أَظْفَارَهُ وَ أَخَذَ مِنْ شَعْرِ رَأْسِهِ بِمِشْقَصٍ قَالَ لَا بَأْسَ لَيْسَ كُلُّ أَحَدٍ يَجِدُ جَلَماً[4].

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who is for al-Hajj al-Tamattu‘ (advantageous) cuts his nails and takes certain amount of the hairs from his head with a blade. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful, everyone cannot not find scissors.’”
