The Wine Addict

قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‌ مَنْ شَرِبَ الْمُسْكِرَ حَتَّى يَفْنَى عُمُرُهُ كَانَ كَمَنْ عَبَدَ الْأَوْثَانَ وَ مَنْ تَرَكَ مُسْكِراً مَخَافَةً مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَدْخَلَهُ اللَّهُ الْجَنَّةَ وَ سَقَاهُ مِنَ الرَّحِيقِ الْمَخْتُومِ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If one drinks intoxicating liquor until his life ends he is like an idol worshipper. If one quits drinking intoxicating liquor for fear of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, He will admit him in the garden (paradises) and give him drinks from exquisite, sealed nectar (containers).’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ مُدْمِنُ الْخَمْرِ يَلْقَى اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ كَعَابِدِ وَثَنٍ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘A wine addict will meet Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, as a worshipper of idols will do.’”

قَالَ: مُدْمِنُ الْخَمْرِ يَلْقَى اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ حِينَ يَلْقَاهُ كَعَابِدِ وَثَنٍ.

“One of the two Imam, (abu Ja‘far or abu ‘Abd Allah), ‘Alayhim al-Salam, has said, ‘A wine addict will meet Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, when he will meet Him, as a worshipper of idols will do.’”

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ‌ مُدْمِنُ الْخَمْرِ يَلْقَى اللَّهَ حِينَ يَلْقَاهُ كَعَابِدِ وَثَنٍ.

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘A wine addict will meet Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, when he meets Him, as a worshipper of idols will do.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ مُدْمِنُ الْخَمْرِ يَلْقَى اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يَوْمَ يَلْقَاهُ كَافِراً.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘A wine addict will meet Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, as a worshipper of idols will do.’”

مُدْمِنُ الْخَمْرِ يَلْقَى اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى يَوْمَ يَلْقَاهُ كَعَابِدِ وَثَنٍ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘A wine addict will meet Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, as a worshipper of idols will do.’”

أَنَّهُمَا قَالا مُدْمِنُ الْخَمْرِ كَعَابِدِ وَثَنٍ

“Abu Ja‘far, and abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, have said, ‘A wine addict is like an idol worshipper.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ مُدْمِنُ الْخَمْرِ كَعَابِدِ وَثَنٍ إِذَا مَاتَ وَ هُوَ مُدْمِنٌ عَلَيْهِ يَلْقَى اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ حِينَ يَلْقَاهُ- كَعَابِدِ وَثَنٍ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ’A wine addict is like an idol worshipper. When he dies as a wine addict and he will meet Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, he will meet Him as a wors

كَتَبْتُ إِلَى أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ع أَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ شَارِبِ الْمُسْكِرِ قَالَ فَكَتَبَ ع شَارِبُ الْخَمْرِ كَافِرٌ.

‘A wine drinker is an unbeliever.’”

مُدْمِنُ الْخَمْرِ كَعَابِدِ وَثَنٍ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘A wine addict is like a worshipper of idols.’”
