سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ‌ لَا تَذْكُرُوا سِرَّنَا بِخِلَافِ عَلَانِيَتِنَا وَ لَا عَلَانِيَتَنَا بِخِلَافِ سِرِّنَا حَسْبُكُمْ أَنْ تَقُولُوا مَا نَقُولُ وَ تَصْمُتُوا عَمَّا نَصْمُتُ إِنَّكُمْ قَدْ رَأَيْتُمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ لَمْ يَجْعَلْ لِأَحَدٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ فِي خِلَافِنَا خَيْراً إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يَقُولُ‌ فَلْيَحْذَرِ الَّذِينَ يُخالِفُونَ عَنْ أَمْرِهِ‌ أَنْ تُصِيبَهُمْ ف

‘Do not mention our (asws) secrets opposite to what we (asws) say publicly, and do not publicise us (asws) opposite to our (asws) secrets. قَالَ مُوسَى ع يَا رَبِّ مِنْ أَيْنَ الدَّاءُ قَالَ مِنِّي قَالَ فَالشِّفَاءُ قَالَ مِنِّي قَالَ فَمَا يَصْنَعُ عِبَادُكَ بِالْمُعَالِجِ قَالَ يَطِيبُ بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ فَيَوْمَئِذٍ سُمِّيَ الْمُعَالِجُ الطَّبِيبَ‌[2].

Abu Abdullah (asws) having said: ‘(Prophet) Musa (as) said: ‘O Lord (azwj)! Where does illness come from?’ He (azwj) Said: “From Me (azwj)”. He said: ‘And the cure?’ He (azwj) Said: “From Me (azwj)”. He said: ‘So what do Your servants do with the healer?’ He (azwj) Said: “They soothe themselves by him”. These days the

مَا مِنْ دَاءٍ إِلَّا وَ هُوَ سَارِعٌ إِلَى الْجَسَدِ[3]- يَنْتَظِرُ مَتَى يُؤْمَرُ بِهِ فَيَأْخُذَهُ وَ فِي رِوَايَةٍ أُخْرَى إِلَّا الْحُمَّى فَإِنَّهَا تَرِدُ وُرُوداً.

Abu Abdullah (asws) said: ‘There is none from the illnesses, but it waits, prior to rushing to the body (infecting), until after getting orders to act upon it’. And in another report: ‘Except for the fever, for it starts working as it comes’.

مَرِضْتُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ مَرَضاً شَدِيداً فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع فَكَتَبَ إِلَيَّ قَدْ بَلَغَنِي عِلَّتُكَ فَاشْتَرِ صَاعاً مِنْ بُرٍّ ثُمَّ اسْتَلْقِ عَلَى قَفَاكَ‌[4] وَ انْثُرْهُ عَلَى صَدْرِكَ كَيْفَمَا انْتَثَرَ وَ قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِي إِذَا سَأَلَكَ بِهِ الْمُضْطَرُّ كَشَفْتَ مَا بِهِ مِنْ ضُرٍّ وَ مَكَّنْتَ لَهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَ جَعَلْتَهُ خَلِيفَتَكَ عَلَى خَلْقِك

‘I fell ill in Al-Medina with intense illness, and that (news) reached Abu Abdullah (asws). So he (asws) wrote to me: ‘It has reached me (asws) (news of) your illness. Buy one Sa’a of wheat, then lie down on your back and scatter it upon your chest a scattering and say, ‘Our Allah (azwj)! I hereby ask You (azwj) by You

Abu Abdullah (asws) said, ‘I asked him (asws) about the earth, which thing does it rest upon? He (asws) said: ‘It is upon the whale’. I said, ‘So the whale, which thing does it rest upon?’ He (asws) said: ‘Upon the water’. I said, ‘So the water, upon which thing does is rest upon?’ He (asws) said: ‘Upon a rock’. I said

إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ خَلَقَ الْأَرْضَ ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهَا الْمَاءَ الْمَالِحَ أَرْبَعِينَ صَبَاحاً وَ الْمَاءَ الْعَذْبَ أَرْبَعِينَ صَبَاحاً حَتَّى إِذَا الْتَقَتْ وَ اخْتَلَطَتْ أَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ قَبْضَةً فَعَرَكَهَا عَرْكاً شَدِيداً جَمِيعاً ثُمَّ فَرَّقَهَا فِرْقَتَيْنِ فَخَرَجَ مِنْ كُلِّ وَاحِدَةٍ مِنْهُمَا عُنُقٌ مِثْلُ‌[4] عُنُقِ الذَّرِّ فَأَخَذَ عُنُقٌ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَ عُنُقٌ إِلَى النَّارِ. ح

إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص كَانَ إِذَا أَصْبَحَ قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ هَلْ مِنْ مُبَشِّرَاتٍ يَعْنِي بِهِ الرُّؤْيَا.

Al-Ridha (asws) has said that the Rasool (saww) of Allah (azwj) used to say to his (saww) companions in the morning: ‘Is there anything from the good news?’, meaning by it, the dreams’.

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ الرُّؤْيَا الصَّادِقَةُ وَ الْكَاذِبَةُ مَخْرَجُهُمَا مِنْ مَوْضِعٍ وَاحِدٍ قَالَ صَدَقْتَ أَمَّا الْكَاذِبَةُ الْمُخْتَلِفَةُ فَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ يَرَاهَا فِي أَوَّلِ لَيْلَةٍ فِي سُلْطَانِ الْمَرَدَةِ الْفَسَقَةِ وَ إِنَّمَا هِيَ شَيْ‌ءٌ يُخَيَّلُ إِلَى الرَّجُلِ وَ هِيَ كَاذِبَةٌ مُخَالِفَةٌ لَا خَيْرَ فِيهَا وَ أَمَّا الصَّادِقَةُ إِذَا رَآهَا بَعْدَ الثُّلُثَيْنِ مِ

سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ع- عَنِ الرِّيَاحِ الْأَرْبَعِ الشَّمَالِ وَ الْجَنُوبِ وَ الصَّبَا وَ الدَّبُورِ وَ قُلْتُ إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَذْكُرُونَ أَنَّ الشَّمَالَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ وَ الْجَنُوبَ مِنَ النَّارِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ جُنُوداً مِنْ رِيَاحٍ يُعَذِّبُ بِهَا مَنْ يَشَاءُ مِمَّنْ عَصَاهُ وَ لِكُلِّ رِيحٍ مِنْهَا مَلَكٌ مُوَكَّلٌ بِهَا فَإِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَنْ يُعَذِّبَ قَوْماً بِ

‘I asked Abu Ja’far (asws) about the four types of winds – the North, the South, Al-Saba and Al-Dabour, and I said that the people are mentioning that the North (wind) is from the Paradise, and the South (wind) is from the Fire’. إِنَّ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ رِيَاحَ رَحْمَةٍ وَ رِيَاحَ عَذَابٍ فَإِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ الْعَذَابَ مِنَ الرِّيَاحِ رَحْمَةً[2] فَعَلَ قَالَ وَ لَنْ يَجْعَلَ الرَّحْمَةَ مِنَ الرِّيحِ عَذَاباً قَالَ وَ ذَلِكَ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَرْحَمْ قَوْماً قَطُّ أَطَاعُوهُ وَ كَانَتْ طَاعَتُهُمْ إِيَّاهُ وَبَالًا عَلَيْهِمْ إِلَّا مِنْ بَعْدِ تَحَوُّلِهِمْ عَنْ طَاعَتِهِ‌[3] قَالَ كَذَلِكَ فَعَلَ بِقَوْمِ يُونُسَ لَمَّا آمَ

حَجَجْنَا مَعَ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع فِي السَّنَةِ الَّتِي كَانَ حَجَّ فِيهَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ وَ كَانَ مَعَهُ نَافِعٌ مَوْلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ‌[3] فَنَظَرَ نَافِعٌ إِلَى أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع فِي رُكْنِ الْبَيْتِ وَ قَدِ اجْتَمَعَ عَلَيْهِ النَّاسُ فَقَالَ نَافِعٌ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَنْ هَذَا الَّذِي قَدْ تَدَاكَّ عَلَيْهِ النَّاسُ‌[4] فَقَالَ هَذَا نَبِيُّ أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ هَذَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ ع

‘We went on Pilgrimage with Abu Ja’far (asws) in the year in which Hisham Abdul Malik was performing the Pilgrimage as well, and along with him was Nafa’u, the retainer of Umar Bin Al-Khattaab. أَتَى أَبُو ذَرٍّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي قَدِ اجْتَوَيْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ[3] أَ فَتَأْذَنُ لِي أَنْ أَخْرُجَ أَنَا وَ ابْنُ أَخِي إِلَى مُزَيْنَةَ فَنَكُونَ بِهَا فَقَالَ إِنِّي أَخْشَى أَنْ يُغِيرَ[4] عَلَيْكَ خَيْلٌ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ فَيُقْتَلَ ابْنُ أَخِيكَ فَتَأْتِيَنِي شَعِثاً[5] فَتَقُومَ بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ مُتَّكِئاً عَلَى عَصَاكَ فَتَقُولَ قُتِلَ ابْنُ أَخِي وَ أُخِذَ السَّرْحُ‌[6] فَقَالَ

فِي غَزْوَةِ ذَاتِ الرِّقَاعِ تَحْتَ شَجَرَةٍ عَلَى شَفِيرِ وَادٍ فَأَقْبَلَ سَيْلٌ فَحَالَ بَيْنَهُ وَ بَيْنَ أَصْحَابِهِ فَرَآهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ قِيَامٌ عَلَى شَفِيرِ الْوَادِي يَنْتَظِرُونَ مَتَى يَنْقَطِعُ السَّيْلُ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ لِقَوْمِهِ أَنَا أَقْتُلُ مُحَمَّداً فَجَاءَ وَ شَدَّ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص بِالسَّيْفِ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ يُنْجِيكَ مِنِّي يَا مُحَمَّد
