أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ع عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَ‌ وَ مَنْ كانَ فِي هذِهِ أَعْمى‌ فَهُوَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ أَعْمى‌ وَ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا فَقَالَ نَزَلَتْ فِيمَنْ سَوَّفَ الْحَجَ‌[3] حَجَّةَ الْإِسْلَامِ وَ عِنْدَهُ مَا يَحُجُّ بِهِ فَقَالَ الْعَامَ أَحُجُّ الْعَامَ أَحُجُّ حَتَّى يَمُوتَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَحُجَّ.

Hadith.2933 - Muhammad ibn al-Fudhayl narrated: I asked Abu al-Hasan (as) about the words of Allah (swt), the Exalted: "And whoever is blind in this [life] will be blind in the Hereafter and more astray in way" (Surah Al-Isra 17:72). أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنْ رَجُلٍ لَمْ يَحُجَّ قَطُّ وَ لَهُ مَالٌ فَقَالَ هُوَ مِمَّنْ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَ‌ وَ نَحْشُرُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيامَةِ أَعْمى‌ فَقُلْتُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ أَعْمَى فَقَالَ أَعْمَاهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ عَنْ طَرِيقِ الْخَيْرِ.

I asked Abu Abdullah (as) about a man who had never performed Hajj despite having wealth. Imam (as) said: "He is among those about whom Allah (swt), the Exalted, says: 'And We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind.' (Surah Ta-Ha 20:124)." I said: "Glory be to Allah (swt)! وَ رَوَى صَفْوَانُ بْنُ يَحْيَى‌[4] عَنْ ذَرِيحٍ الْمُحَارِبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ‌ مَنْ مَاتَ وَ لَمْ يَحُجَّ حَجَّةَ الْإِسْلَامِ وَ لَمْ يَمْنَعْهُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ حَاجَةٌ تُجْحِفُ بِهِ أَوْ مَرَضٌ لَا يُطِيقُ مِنْهُ الْحَجَ‌[5] أَوْ سُلْطَانٌ يَمْنَعُهُ مِنْهُ فَلْيَمُتْ يَهُودِيّاً أَوْ نَصْرَانِيّاً[6].

"Whoever dies without performing the Hajj of Islam, and there was nothing preventing him—such as a pressing need that depleted his resources, an illness that made him incapable of Hajj, or a tyrant preventing him from it—let him die as a Jew or a Christian."

وَ رَوَى عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْهُ ع أَنَّهُ قَالَ‌ مَنْ قَدَرَ عَلَى مَا يَحُجُّ بِهِ وَ جَعَلَ يَدْفَعُ ذَلِكَ وَ لَيْسَ لَهُ عَنْهُ شُغُلٌ يَعْذِرُهُ اللَّهُ فِيهِ حَتَّى جَاءَ الْمَوْتُ فَقَدْ ضَيَّعَ شَرِيعَةً مِنْ شَرَائِعِ الْإِسْلَامِ.

Hadith.2936 - Ali ibn Abi Hamzah narrated from Imam (as) that he said: "Whoever has the means to perform Hajj but keeps postponing it without any valid excuse that Allah (swt) would accept, and death overtakes him, has neglected a fundamental law of Islam."
