Feeling and Touching (of al-Ka‘bah)

إِذَا دَخَلْتَ الْمَسْجِدَ الْحَرَامَ فَامْشِ حَتَّى تَدْنُوَ مِنَ الْحَجَرِ الْأَسْوَدِ فَتَسْتَقْبِلَهُ وَ تَقُولُ- الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي هَدانا لِهذا وَ ما كُنَّا لِنَهْتَدِيَ لَوْ لا أَنْ هَدانَا اللَّهُ‌ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ وَ أَكْبَرُ مِمَّنْ أَخْشَى وَ أَحْذَرُ وَ لا إِلهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ‌ وَحْدَهُ‌ لا شَرِيكَ لَهُ‌ ل

when you enter Masjid al-Haram (the Sacred Masjid), continue walking until you are near the Black Stone, then turn your face to it and say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah who granted us guidance to this (religion). We could not find guidance if Allah did not grant us guidance. Allah is free of all defects. All praise bel

إِذَا دَخَلْتَ الْمَسْجِدَ الْحَرَامَ وَ حَاذَيْتَ الْحَجَرَ الْأَسْوَدَ فَقُلْ‌ - أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً عَبْدُهُ وَ رَسُولُهُ آمَنْتُ بِاللَّهِ وَ كَفَرْتُ بِالطَّاغُوتِ وَ بِاللَّاتِ وَ الْعُزَّى وَ بِعِبَادَةِ الشَّيْطَانِ وَ بِعِبَادَةِ كُلِّ نِدٍّ يُدْعَى مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ ادْنُ مِنَ الْحَجَرِ وَ اسْتَلِمْهُ بِيَمِينِكَ ثُمَّ تَقُولُ

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ‘When you enter Masjid al-Haram (the Sacred Masjid) and are parallel with the Black Stone, say, “I testify that no one deserves worship except Allah, who is One and has no partners and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and His messenger. I have believed in the existence of Allah, and

سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنِ اسْتِلَامِ الرُّكْنِ قَالَ اسْتِلَامُهُ أَنْ تُلْصِقَ بَطْنَكَ بِهِ وَ الْمَسْحُ أَنْ تَمْسَحَهُ بِيَدِكَ‌[1].

“I once asked abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), about feeling the corner (of al-Ka‘bah). He (the Imam) replied, ‘Istilam (feeling) is touching it (the Black Stone) with your belly and al-Mash (touching) is wiping it with your hand.’”
