عَرَفَاتٌ كُلُّهَا مَوْقِفٌ وَ أَفْضَلُ الْمَوْقِفِ سَفْحُ الْجَبَلِ.
“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘All of ‘Arafat is al-Mawqaf (the station) and the best of it is the foot of the hill.’”
عَرَفَاتٌ كُلُّهَا مَوْقِفٌ وَ أَفْضَلُ الْمَوْقِفِ سَفْحُ الْجَبَلِ.

إِذَا وَقَفْتَ بِعَرَفَاتٍ فَادْنُ عَنِ الْهِضَابِ وَ الْهِضَابُ هِيَ الْجِبَالُ فَإِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ص قَالَ إِنَّ أَصْحَابَ الْأَرَاكِ لَا حَجَّ لَهُمْ يَعْنِي الَّذِينَ يَقِفُونَ عِنْدَ الْأَرَاكِ.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that when you pause and stay in ‘Arafat, stay close to the highland, the hills. The Holy prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘People of Arak (a certain area in ‘Arafat) do not have a valid Hajj, that is, those
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص فِي الْمَوْقِفِ ارْتَفِعُوا عَنْ بَطْنِ عُرَنَةَ وَ قَالَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَرَاكِ لَا حَجَّ لَهُمْ.
“The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, about al-Mawqaf (the station) has said, ‘You must come out of Batn ‘Urnah.’ He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘Hajj of the people of al-Arak is not valid.’” NOTE: (Ahadith 1-3 of this Chapter are best
قِفْ فِي مَيْسَرَةِ الْجَبَلِ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص وَقَفَ بِعَرَفَاتٍ فِي مَيْسَرَةِ الْجَبَلِ فَلَمَّا وَقَفَ جَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَبْتَدِرُونَ أَخْفَافَ نَاقَتِهِ فَيَقِفُونَ إِلَى جَانِبِهِ فَنَحَّاهَا فَفَعَلُوا مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مَوْضِعُ أَخْفَافِ نَاقَتِي الْمَوْقِفَ وَ لَكِنْ هَذَا كُلُّهُ مَوْقِفٌ[2] وَ أَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى الْمَوْقِفِ وَ فَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ فِي الْمُ

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص وَقَفَ بِعَرَفَاتٍ فَلَمَّا هَمَّتِ الشَّمْسُ أَنْ تَغِيبَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَنْدَفِعَ[3] قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْفَقْرِ وَ مِنْ تَشَتُّتِ الْأَمْرِ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا يَحْدُثُ بِاللَّيْلِ وَ النَّهَارِ أَمْسَى ظُلْمِي مُسْتَجِيراً بِعَفْوِكَ وَ أَمْسَى خَوْفِي مُسْتَجِيراً بِأَمَانِكَ وَ أَمْسَى ذُلِّي مُسْتَجِيراً بِعِزِّكَ وَ أَمْسَى
‘The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, stayed in ‘Arafat. At about sunset before moving fast said, “O Allah, I seek protection with You against poverty, chaotic affairs and the mischief that takes place during the night and day. It is even
لَيْسَ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ- عَشِيَّةَ عَرَفَةَ شَيْءٌ مُوَقَّتٌ.
“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘There is no definite prayer and supplication for the evening of the day of ‘Arafah.’” (Hadith 6 of this Chapter is best explained by Fatwa)
رَأَيْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ جُنْدَبٍ بِالْمَوْقِفِ فَلَمْ أَرَ مَوْقِفاً كَانَ أَحْسَنَ مِنْ مَوْقِفِهِ مَا زَالَ مَادّاً يَدَيْهِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ وَ دُمُوعُهُ تَسِيلُ عَلَى خَدَّيْهِ حَتَّى تَبْلُغَ الْأَرْضَ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ النَّاسُ قُلْتُ لَهُ يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ مَا رَأَيْتُ مَوْقِفاً قَطُّ أَحْسَنَ مِنْ مَوْقِفِكَ قَالَ وَ اللَّهِ مَا دَعَوْتُ إِلَّا لِإِخْوَانِي وَ ذَلِكَ أَنَّ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ مُوسَى بْنَ
“Once I saw ‘Abd Allah ibn Jundab in ‘Arafat but I had not seen any stay (spending the ninth day of Dhu al-Hajj) in ‘Arafat better than that. He continued stretching his hands to the sky and his tears flowed on his both cheeks all the way to the ground. When people left I said to him, ‘O abu Muhammad, I have never seen
كَانَ عِيسَى بْنُ أَعْيَنَ إِذَا حَجَّ فَصَارَ إِلَى الْمَوْقِفِ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى الدُّعَاءِ لِإِخْوَانِهِ حَتَّى يُفِيضَ النَّاسُ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ تُنْفِقُ مَالَكَ وَ تُتْعِبُ بَدَنَكَ حَتَّى إِذَا صِرْتَ إِلَى الْمَوْضِعِ الَّذِي تُبَثُّ فِيهِ الْحَوَائِجُ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَقْبَلْتَ عَلَى الدُّعَاءِ لِإِخْوَانِكَ وَ تَرَكْتَ نَفْسَكَ قَالَ إِنِّي عَلَى ثِقَةٍ مِنْ دَعْوَةِ الْمَلَكِ لِي وَ فِي شَكٍّ م
‘Isa ibn ’A‘yan in al-Hajj during his stay in ‘Arafat prayed for his brothers (in belief) until people left ‘Arafat for al-Muzdalifah. كُنْتُ فِي الْمَوْقِفِ فَلَمَّا أَفَضْتُ لَقِيتُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنَ شُعَيْبٍ فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ وَ كَانَ مُصَاباً بِإِحْدَى عَيْنَيْهِ وَ إِذَا عَيْنُهُ الصَّحِيحَةُ حَمْرَاءُ كَأَنَّهَا عَلَقَةُ دَمٍ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ قَدْ أُصِبْتَ بِإِحْدَى عَيْنَيْكَ وَ أَنَا وَ اللَّهِ مُشْفِقٌ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى فَلَوْ قَصَرْتَ مِنَ الْبُكَاءِ قَلِيلًا فَقَالَ وَ اللَّهِ يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ مَا دَعَوْتُ لِنَفْسِيَ الْيَوْمَ بِدَعْوَة
“I was in al-Mawqaf (‘Arafat). When I left for al-Muzdalifah I met Ibrahim ibn Shu‘ayb. I offered him greeting of peace. He had trouble in one of his eyes and I found his trouble-free eye had turned red like a piece of blood clot. I said to him, ‘One of your eyes is damaged and I am afraid for your other eye. I wish yo
رَأَيْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ بِالْمَوْقِفِ وَ هُوَ يُنَادِي بِأَعْلَى صَوْتِهِ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص كَانَ الْإِمَامَ ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ثُمَّ الْحَسَنُ ثُمَّ الْحُسَيْنُ ثُمَّ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ثُمَّ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ع ثُمَّ هَهْ[1] فَيُنَادِي ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ لِمَنْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ وَ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ اثْنَيْ ع
“I saw abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), on the day of ‘Arafah in al-Mawqaf (the station) saying at the top of his voice, ‘O people, the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, was an Imam. Then Ali ibn abu Talib was an Imam. Then al-Hassan was an Imam. Th
قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع إِذَا ضَاقَتْ عَرَفَةُ كَيْفَ يَصْنَعُونَ قَالَ يَرْتَفِعُونَ إِلَى الْجَبَلِ[2].
