Chapter on the Blameworthy Traits and Characteristics of Women

أَغْلَبُ الْأَعْدَاءِ لِلْمُؤْمِنِ زَوْجَةُ السَّوْءِ.

"The most overpowering enemy of a believer is a bad wife."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌[1] مَا رَأَيْتُ ضَعِيفَاتِ الدِّينِ نَاقِصَاتِ الْعُقُولِ أَسْلَبَ لِذِي لُبٍّ مِنْكُنَ‌[2].

Hadith.4371 - The Messenger of Allah (swt) (peace be upon him and his family) said: "I have not seen those who are weak in faith and deficient in intellect more capable of overwhelming a man of reason than you (women)."

قَالَ ع‌[3] إِنَّمَا النِّسَاءُ عِيٌّ وَ عَوْرَةٌ فَاسْتُرُوا الْعَوْرَةَ بِالْبُيُوتِ وَ اسْتُرُوا الْعِيَّ بِالسُّكُوتِ.

Hadith.4372 - Imam (as) said: "Indeed, women are a source of dependence and vulnerability. So, conceal their vulnerability within the homes and cover their dependence with silence."

قَالَ ع‌ لَوْ لَا النِّسَاءُ لَعُبِدَ اللَّهُ حَقّاً حَقّاً[4].

Hadith.4373 - Imam (as) said: "If it were not for women, Allah (swt) would have been truly worshiped as He (swt) deserves to be worshiped."

سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ‌ يَظْهَرُ فِي آخِرِ الزَّمَانِ وَ اقْتِرَابِ السَّاعَةِ وَ هُوَ شَرُّ الْأَزْمِنَةِ نِسْوَةٌ كَاشِفَاتٌ عَارِيَاتٌ مُتَبَرِّجَاتٌ مِنَ الدِّينِ دَاخِلَاتٌ فِي الْفِتَنِ مَائِلَاتٌ إِلَى الشَّهَوَاتِ مُسْرِعَاتٌ إِلَى اللَّذَّاتِ مُسْتَحِلَّاتٌ لِلْمُحَرَّمَاتِ فِي جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدَاتٌ‌[5].

Hadith.4374 - Al-Asbagh ibn Nubatah narrated from Commander of the Faithful (as) that he said: "I heard him say: In the last days and near the Hour, when it will be the worst of times, there will appear women who are uncovered, naked, and flaunting themselves. وَ مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص عَلَى نِسْوَةٍ فَوَقَفَ عَلَيْهِنَّ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مَعَاشِرَ النِّسَاءِ مَا رَأَيْتُ نَوَاقِصَ عُقُولٍ وَ دِينٍ أَذْهَبَ بِعُقُولِ ذَوِي الْأَلْبَابِ مِنْكُنَّ إِنِّي قَدْ رَأَيْتُ أَنَّكُنَّ أَكْثَرُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ- يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَتَقَرَّبْنَ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُنَّ فَقَالَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا نُقْصَانُ دِينِنَا وَ عُقُولِنَا فَقَا

Hadith.4375 - The Messenger of Allah (swt) (peace be upon him and his family) passed by a group of women, stopped, and said: "O assembly of women! I have not seen those who are deficient in intellect and religion more capable of taking away the reasoning of men of understanding than you. Indeed, I have observed that yo

وَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌[1] أَ لَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِشَرِّ نِسَائِكُمْ قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَأَخْبِرْنَا قَالَ مِنْ شَرِّ نِسَائِكُمُ الذَّلِيلَةُ فِي أَهْلِهَا الْعَزِيزَةُ مَعَ بَعْلِهَا الْعَقِيمُ الْحَقُودُ الَّتِي لَا تَتَوَرَّعُ عَنْ قَبِيحٍ الْمُتَبَرِّجَةُ إِذَا غَابَ عَنْهَا زَوْجُهَا الْحَصَانُ مَعَهُ إِذَا حَضَرَ الَّتِي لَا تَسْمَعُ قَوْلَهُ وَ لَا تُطِيعُ أَمْرَهُ فَإِذَا خَلَا بِهَا تَمَنّ

Hadith.4376 - The Messenger of Allah (swt) (peace be upon him and his family) said: "Shall I not inform you about the worst of your women?" They said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah (swt), tell us." وَ قَامَ النَّبِيُّ ص خَطِيباً[3] فَقَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِيَّاكُمْ وَ خَضْرَاءَ الدِّمَنِ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَ مَا خَضْرَاءُ الدِّمَنِ قَالَ الْمَرْأَةُ الْحَسْنَاءُ فِي مَنْبِتِ السَّوْءِ[4].

Hadith.4377 - The Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) stood up to deliver a sermon and said: "O people, beware of the green growth in a dung heap." It was asked: "O Messenger of Allah (swt), what is the green growth in a dung heap?" He (sw) replied: "A beautiful woman raised in a bad environment."

قَالَ ع‌ اعْلَمُوا أَنَّ الْمَرْأَةَ السَّوْدَاءَ[1] إِذَا كَانَتْ وَلُوداً أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنَ الْحَسْنَاءِ الْعَاقِرِ.

Hadith.4378 - Imam (as) said: "Know that a dark-skinned woman who bears many children is more beloved to me than a beautiful woman who is barren."
