سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ‌ اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى هَوْلِ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ وَ أَخْرِجْنِي مِنَ الدُّنْيَا سَالِماً وَ زَوِّجْنِي مِنَ الْحُورِ الْعِينِ وَ اكْفِنِي مَئُونَتِي وَ مَئُونَةَ عِيَالِي وَ مَئُونَةَ النَّاسِ‌ وَ أَدْخِلْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ‌.

Abu Ali al-Ash’ari has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan ibn Yahya from abu Sulayman al-Jassas from Ibrahim ibn Maymun who has said the following: “I heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) saying, ‘O Lord, assist me in the horror of the Day of Judgment, take me out of this world safely, pair me up with the

قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ كُلِّ خَيْرٍ أَحَاطَ بِهِ عِلْمُكَ وَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ كُلِّ سُوءٍ أَحَاطَ بِهِ عِلْمُكَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عَافِيَتَكَ فِي أُمُورِي كُلِّهَا وَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ خِزْيِ الدُّنْيَا وَ عَذَابِ الْآخِرَةِ.

“O Lord, I plead to receive from You (my share of) all good which Your knowledge encompasses, I seek protection with You against all evil which is encompassed by Your knowledge, O Lord, I plead before You for good health from You in all of my affairs, I seek protection with You against losses in this world and the torm

كَتَبَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَصِيرٍ[1] يَسْأَلُهُ أَنْ يَكْتُبَ لَهُ فِي أَسْفَلِ كِتَابِهِ دُعَاءً يُعَلِّمُهُ إِيَّاهُ يَدْعُو بِهِ فَيُعْصَمُ بِهِ مِنَ الذُّنُوبِ جَامِعاً لِلدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ فَكَتَبَ ع بِخَطِّهِ- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ* يَا مَنْ أَظْهَرَ الْجَمِيلَ وَ سَتَرَ الْقَبِيحَ وَ لَمْ يَهْتِكِ السِّتْرَ عَنِّي يَا كَرِيمَ الْعَفْوِ يَا حَسَنَ التَّجَاوُزِ يَا وَاسِعَ الْمَغْفِرَةِ يَا بَاسِطَ

“(I begin) in the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful, O the One who manifests the good things, hides the bad ones, does not rip apart the covering from me (my privacy), O magnanimous in pardoning, O the One who overlooks faults with grace, whose forgiveness is vast, whose hands are wide open with kindness, who

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ ثِقَتِي فِي كُلِّ كُرْبَةٍ وَ أَنْتَ رَجَائِي‌ فِي كُلِّ شِدَّةٍ وَ أَنْتَ لِي فِي كُلِّ أَمْرٍ نَزَلَ بِي ثِقَةٌ وَ عُدَّةٌ كَمْ مِنْ كَرْبٍ يَضْعُفُ عَنْهُ الْفُؤَادُ وَ تَقِلُّ فِيهِ الْحِيلَةُ[1] وَ يَخْذُلُ عَنْهُ الْقَرِيبُ وَ الْبَعِيدُ وَ يَشْمَتُ بِهِ الْعَدُوُّ وَ تَعْنِينِي فِيهِ الْأُمُورُ أَنْزَلْتُهُ بِكَ وَ شَكَوْتُهُ إِلَيْكَ رَاغِباً فِيهِ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ فَفَرَّجْتَهُ وَ كَشَفْتَهُ

5. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from abu ‘Abd Allah al-Barqi and abu Talib from Bakr ibn Muhammad from abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) who has said the following: “O Lord, You are my trustee in every distressful condition. You are my hope in all suffering, You are for me in all of my problems,

قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِجَلَالِكَ وَ جَمَالِكَ وَ كَرَمِكَ أَنْ تَفْعَلَ بِي كَذَا وَ كَذَا.

"Say, ‘O Lord, I plead before You through Your Glory, Beauty and Magnanimity to provide me such and such help,’ one should mention one’s wishes.”

قَالَ لِي‌ أَكْثِرْ مِنْ أَنْ تَقُولَ- اللَّهُمَّ لَا تَجْعَلْنِي مِنَ الْمُعَارِينَ‌[2] وَ لَا تُخْرِجْنِي مِنَ التَّقْصِيرِ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَمَّا الْمُعَارِينَ فَقَدْ عَرَفْتُ فَمَا مَعْنَى لَا تُخْرِجْنِي مِنَ التَّقْصِيرِ قَالَ كُلُّ عَمَلٍ تَعْمَلُهُ تُرِيدُ بِهِ وَجْهَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فَكُنْ فِيهِ مُقَصِّراً عِنْدَ نَفْسِكَ فَإِنَّ النَّاسَ كُلَّهُمْ فِي أَعْمَالِهِمْ فِي مَا بَيْنَهُمْ وَ بَيْنَ اللَّهِ ع

7. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from ibn Mahbub from al- Fadl ibn Yunus who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan (a.s.) once said to me, ‘Say very often, “O Lord, do not place me among those whose belief is temporary and do not take me out of shortcomings.” I (the narrator) then asked, ‘I kn

قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع‌ لَقَدْ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ بِكَلِمَتَيْنِ دَعَا بِهِمَا قَالَ- اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ تُعَذِّبْنِي فَأَهْلٌ لِذَلِكَ أَنَا وَ إِنْ تَغْفِرْ لِي فَأَهْلٌ لِذَلِكَ أَنْتَ فَغَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ.

رَأَيْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ الْحُسَيْنِ ع فِي فِنَاءِ الْكَعْبَةِ فِي اللَّيْلِ وَ هُوَ يُصَلِّي فَأَطَالَ الْقِيَامَ- حَتَّى جَعَلَ مَرَّةً يَتَوَكَّأُ عَلَى رِجْلِهِ الْيُمْنَى وَ مَرَّةً عَلَى رِجْلِهِ الْيُسْرَى ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ بِصَوْتٍ كَأَنَّهُ بَاكٍ- يَا سَيِّدِي تُعَذِّبُنِي وَ حُبُّكَ فِي قَلْبِي أَمَا وَ عِزَّتِكَ لَئِنْ فَعَلْتَ لَتَجْمَعَنَّ بَيْنِي وَ بَيْنَ قَوْمٍ طَالَ مَا عَادَيْتُهُمْ فِيكَ‌[1].

إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع أَكْثَرَ مَا يُلِحُّ بِهِ فِي الدُّعَاءِ عَلَى اللَّهِ بِحَقِّ الْخَمْسَةِ يَعْنِي رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص وَ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ فَاطِمَةَ وَ الْحَسَنَ وَ الْحُسَيْنَ ص.

عَلَّمَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع دُعَاءً وَ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَدْعُوَ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ- اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي تَعَمَّدْتُ إِلَيْكَ بِحَاجَتِي وَ أَنْزَلْتُ بِكَ الْيَوْمَ فَقْرِي وَ مَسْكَنَتِي فَأَنَا الْيَوْمَ لِمَغْفِرَتِكَ أَرْجَى مِنِّي لِعَمَلِي وَ لَمَغْفِرَتُكَ وَ رَحْمَتُكَ أَوْسَعُ مِنْ ذُنُوبِي فَتَوَلَّ قَضَاءَ كُلِّ حَاجَةٍ هِيَ لِي بِقُدْرَتِكَ عَلَيْهَا وَ تَيْسِيرِ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْكَ وَ لِفَقْرِي إِلَي

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع ادْعُ اللَّهَ لَنَا فَقَالَ- اللَّهُمَّ ارْزُقْهُمْ صِدْقَ الْحَدِيثِ وَ أَدَاءَ الْأَمَانَةِ وَ الْمُحَافَظَةَ عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ أَحَقُّ خَلْقِكَ أَنْ تَفْعَلَهُ بِهِمُ اللَّهُمَّ وَ افْعَلْهُ بِهِمْ.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from al- Husayn ibn ‘Atiyyah from Zayd ibn al-Sa’Igh who has said the following: “Once I said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) ‘Please, pray to Allah for us.’ The Imam said, ‘O Lord, give them truthfulness in their words (Hadith), safe keeping of their trust

كَانَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ‌ ص يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ مُنَّ عَلَيَّ بِالتَّوَكُّلِ عَلَيْكَ وَ التَّفْوِيضِ إِلَيْكَ وَ الرِّضَا بِقَدَرِكَ وَ التَّسْلِيمِ لِأَمْرِكَ حَتَّى لَا أُحِبَّ تَعْجِيلَ مَا أَخَّرْتَ وَ لَا تَأْخِيرَ مَا عَجَّلْتَ يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ.

أَتَى جَبْرَئِيلُ ع إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ص فَقَالَ لَهُ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقُولُ لَكَ إِذَا أَرَدْتَ أَنْ تَعْبُدَنِي يَوْماً وَ لَيْلَةً حَقَّ عِبَادَتِي فَارْفَعْ يَدَيْكَ إِلَيَّ وَ قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْداً خَالِداً مَعَ خُلُودِكَ وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْداً لَا مُنْتَهَى لَهُ دُونَ عِلْمِكَ وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْداً لَا أَمَدَ لَهُ دُونَ مَشِيئَتِكَ وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْداً لَا جَزَاءَ لِقَائِلِهِ إِلَّا رِ

أَمْلَى عَلَيَّ هَذَا الدُّعَاءَ- أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع وَ هُوَ جَامِعٌ لِلدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ تَقُولُ بَعْدَ حَمْدِ اللَّهِ وَ الثَّنَاءِ عَلَيْهِ- اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ‌ لا إِلهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ‌ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ وَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ* وَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ‌ الْواحِدُ الْقَهَّارُ* وَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ الْمَلِكُ الْجَبَّ

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع أَ لَا تَخُصُّنِي بِدُعَاءٍ قَالَ بَلَى قَالَ قُلْ- يَا وَاحِدُ يَا مَاجِدُ يَا أَحَدُ يَا صَمَدُ يَا مَنْ‌ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَ لَمْ يُولَدْ وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُواً أَحَدٌ يَا عَزِيزُ يَا كَرِيمُ يَا حَنَّانُ يَا مَنَّانُ يَا سَامِعَ الدَّعَوَاتِ يَا أَجْوَدَ مَنْ سُئِلَ وَ يَا خَيْرَ مَنْ أَعْطَى يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ قُلْتُ‌ وَ لَقَدْ نادانا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ الْمُجِيبُون

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَلِّمْنِي دُعَاءً أَدْعُو بِهِ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْ يَا مَنْ أَرْجُوهُ لِكُلِ‌ خَيْرٍ- وَ يَا مَنْ آمَنُ سَخَطَهُ‌[1] عِنْدَ كُلِّ عَثْرَةٍ وَ يَا مَنْ يُعْطِي بِالْقَلِيلِ الْكَثِيرَ يَا مَنْ أَعْطَى مَنْ سَأَلَهُ تَحَنُّناً مِنْهُ وَ رَحْمَةً يَا مَنْ أَعْطَى مَنْ لَمْ يَسْأَلْهُ وَ لَمْ يَعْرِفْهُ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَعْطِنِي بِمَسْأَلَتِي مِنْ جَمِيعِ خَيْرِ

‌ أَنَّهُ عَلَّمَ أَخَاهُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ هَذَا الدُّعَاءَ اللَّهُمَّ ارْفَعْ ظَنِّي صَاعِداً وَ لَا تُطْمِعْ فِيَّ عَدُوّاً وَ لَا حَاسِداً وَ احْفَظْنِي قَائِماً وَ قَاعِداً وَ يَقْظَاناً [يَقْظَانَ‌] وَ رَاقِداً اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَ ارْحَمْنِي وَ اهْدِنِي سَبِيلَكَ الْأَقْوَمَ وَ قِنِي حَرَّ جَهَنَّمَ وَ احْطُطْ عَنِّي الْمَغْرَمَ وَ الْمَأْثَمَ وَ اجْعَلْنِي مِنْ خَيْرِ خِيَارِ الْعَالَمِ‌[2]

قُلْتُ لَهُ عَلِّمْنِي دُعَاءً فَقَالَ فَأَيْنَ أَنْتَ عَنْ دُعَاءِ الْإِلْحَاحِ قَالَ قُلْتُ وَ مَا دُعَاءُ الْإِلْحَاحِ فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَ مَا بَيْنَهُنَّ وَ رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ وَ رَبَّ جَبْرَئِيلَ وَ مِيكَائِيلَ وَ إِسْرَافِيلَ وَ رَبَّ الْقُرْآنِ الْعَظِيمِ وَ رَبَّ مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّينَ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِالَّذِي‌[3] تَقُومُ بِهِ السَّمَاءُ وَ بِهِ تَقُومُ الْأ

إِنَّ أَبَا ذَرٍّ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص وَ مَعَهُ جَبْرَئِيلُ ع فِي صُورَةِ دِحْيَةَ الْكَلْبِيِّ وَ قَدِ اسْتَخْلَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص فَلَمَّا رَآهُمَا انْصَرَفَ عَنْهُمَا وَ لَمْ يَقْطَعْ كَلَامَهُمَا فَقَالَ جَبْرَئِيلُ ع يَا مُحَمَّدُ هَذَا أَبُو ذَرٍّ قَدْ مَرَّ بِنَا وَ لَمْ يُسَلِّمْ عَلَيْنَا أَمَا لَوْ سَلَّمَ لَرَدَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ يَا مُحَمَّدُ إِنَّ لَهُ دُعَاءً يَدْعُو بِهِ مَعْرُوفاً عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الس

“Once abu Dharr came to the Messenger of Allah while Jibril (Gabriel) was, in the form of Dihyah al-Kalbi (one of the companions of the Holy Prophet), in a private meeting with the Messenger of Allah. When he saw them he turned away from them and did not want to disrupt their conversation. Jibril (Gabriel) said, ‘O Muh

أَخَذْتُ هَذَا الدُّعَاءَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ع قَالَ وَ كَانَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ يُسَمِّيهِ‌ الْجَامِعَ- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ* أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً عَبْدُهُ وَ رَسُولُهُ آمَنْتُ بِاللَّهِ وَ بِجَمِيعِ رُسُلِهِ وَ بِجَمِيعِ مَا أَنْزَلَ بِهِ‌[1] عَلَى جَمِيعِ الرُّسُلِ وَ أَنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَ لِقَاءَه

قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ أَوْسِعْ عَلَيَّ فِي رِزْقِي وَ امْدُدْ لِي فِي عُمُرِي وَ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي وَ اجْعَلْنِي مِمَّنْ تَنْتَصِرُ بِهِ لِدِينِكَ وَ لَا تَسْتَبْدِلْ بِي غَيْرِي.

يَا مَنْ يَشْكُرُ الْيَسِيرَ وَ يَعْفُو عَنِ الْكَثِيرِ وَ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ* اغْفِرْ لِيَ الذُّنُوبَ الَّتِي ذَهَبَتْ لَذَّتُهَا وَ بَقِيَتْ تَبِعَتُهَا.

“O the One who appreciates the very little and pardons a great deal, who is forgiving and merciful, forgive my sins, the pleasures of which are gone and the consequences have remained.”

كَانَ مِنْ دُعَائِهِ يَقُولُ- يَا نُورُ يَا قُدُّوسُ يَا أَوَّلَ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَ يَا آخِرَ الْآخِرِينَ يَا رَحْمَانُ يَا رَحِيمُ اغْفِرْ لِيَ الذُّنُوبَ الَّتِي تُغَيِّرُ النِّعَمَ وَ اغْفِرْ لِيَ الذُّنُوبَ الَّتِي تُحِلُّ النِّقَمَ وَ اغْفِرْ لِيَ الذُّنُوبَ‌ الَّتِي تَهْتِكُ الْعِصَمَ وَ اغْفِرْ لِيَ الذُّنُوبَ الَّتِي تُنْزِلُ الْبَلَاءَ وَ اغْفِرْ لِيَ الذُّنُوبَ الَّتِي تُدِيلُ الْأَعْدَاءَ وَ اغْفِرْ لِيَ الذ

“O light, O Holy, O the First of the beings in the beginning, O the Last of the beings of the later times, O the Beneficent, O the Merciful, forgive my such sins that change the bounties, forgive my such sins that bring in misfortunes, forgive my such sins that crush the protections, forgive my such sins that send down

وَ كَانَ مِنْ دُعَاءِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع- اللَّهُمَّ كَتَبْتَ الْآثَارَ وَ عَلِمْتَ الْأَخْبَارَ وَ اطَّلَعْتَ عَلَى الْأَسْرَارِ فَحُلْتَ‌[1] بَيْنَنَا وَ بَيْنَ الْقُلُوبِ فَالسِّرُّ عِنْدَكَ عَلَانِيَةٌ وَ الْقُلُوبُ إِلَيْكَ مُفْضَاةٌ وَ إِنَّمَا أَمْرُكَ لِشَيْ‌ءٍ إِذَا أَرَدْتَهُ أَنْ تَقُولَ لَهُ‌ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ* فَقُلْ بِرَحْمَتِكَ لِطَاعَتِكَ أَنْ تَدْخُلَ فِي كُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْ أَعْضَائِي وَ لَا تُفَار

ادْعُ بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ- اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ الَّتِي لَا تُنَالُ مِنْكَ إِلَّا بِرِضَاكَ وَ الْخُرُوجَ مِنْ جَمِيعِ مَعَاصِيكَ وَ الدُّخُولَ فِي كُلِّ مَا يُرْضِيكَ وَ النَّجَاةَ مِنْ كُلِّ وَرْطَةٍ وَ الْمَخْرَجَ مِنْ كُلِّ كَبِيرَةٍ أَتَى بِهَا مِنِّي عَمْدٌ أَوْ زَلَّ بِهَا مِنِّي خَطَأٌ أَوْ خَطَرَ بِهَا عَلَيَّ خَطَرَاتُ الشَّيْطَانِ أَسْأَلُكَ خَوْفاً تُوقِفُنِي بِهِ عَلَى حُدُودِ رِضَاكَ

Ibn Mahbub has said that Nuh ibn Yaqdan has narrated from abu ’ Abd Allah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Say this prayer, ‘O Lord, I plead before You for Your favor that cannot be achieved except with Your happiness, for (Your help to) come out of all disobedience that cannot happen without Your approval, for

قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ قَوْلَ التَّوَّابِينَ وَ عَمَلَهُمْ وَ نُورَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَ صِدْقَهُمْ وَ نَجَاةَ الْمُجَاهِدِينَ وَ ثَوَابَهُمْ وَ شُكْرَ الْمُصْطَفَيْنَ وَ نَصِيحَتَهُمْ وَ عَمَلَ الذَّاكِرِينَ وَ يَقِينَهُمْ وَ إِيمَانَ الْعُلَمَاءِ وَ فِقْهَهُمْ وَ تَعَبُّدَ الْخَاشِعِينَ وَ تَوَاضُعَهُمْ وَ حُكْمَ الْفُقَهَاءِ وَ سِيرَتَهُمْ وَ خَشْيَةَ الْمُتَّقِينَ وَ رَغْبَتَهُمْ وَ تَصْدِيقَ الْمُؤْمِنِي

قُلْتُ لِلرِّضَا ع عَلِّمْنِي دُعَاءً وَ أَوْجِزْ فَقَالَ قُلْ يَا مَنْ دَلَّنِي عَلَى نَفْسِهِ وَ ذَلَّلَ قَلْبِي بِتَصْدِيقِهِ أَسْأَلُكَ الْأَمْنَ وَ الْإِيمَانَ.

34. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn al-Walid from Yunus who has said the following: “Once I asked al-Rida (a.s.) to instruct me with a concise supplication. The Imam instructed me to say, ‘O the One who has guided me to His Own self and has humbled my heart with its affirmation

يَا سَعْدُ تَعَلَّمُوا الْقُرْآنَ فَإِنَّ الْقُرْآنَ يَأْتِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فِي أَحْسَنِ صُورَةٍ نَظَرَ إِلَيْهَا الْخَلْقُ وَ النَّاسُ صُفُوفٌ عِشْرُونَ وَ مِائَةُ أَلْفِ صَفٍّ ثَمَانُونَ أَلْفَ صَفٍّ أُمَّةُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَرْبَعُونَ أَلْفَ صَفٍّ مِنْ سَائِرِ الْأُمَمِ فَيَأْتِي عَلَى صَفِّ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فِي صُورَةِ رَجُلٍ فَيُسَلِّمُ فَيَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُونَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْحَلِيمُ

Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from al-‘Abbas from h n Fadl ibn Shadhan ‘Abd al-Rahman from Sufyan al-Hariri from his father from Sa’d al-Khaffaf from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following: “O Sa’d, learn the Holy Quran; on the Day of Judgment the Holy Quran will come in the best form that people may have ever

قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ أَنَا أَوَّلُ وَافِدٍ عَلَى الْعَزِيزِ الْجَبَّارِ- يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَ كِتَابُهُ وَ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي ثُمَّ أُمَّتِي ثُمَّ أَسْأَلُهُمْ مَا فَعَلْتُمْ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَ بِأَهْلِ بَيْتِي.

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said that the Messenger of Allah has said, ‘I will be the first to arrive before the Majestic, the Almighty on the Day of Judgment, His book and my family, then my followers whom I will ask about what they have done to the book of Allah and my family.’”

قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‌ لَا وَ اللَّهِ لَا يَرْجِعُ الْأَمْرُ وَ الْخِلَافَةُ إِلَى آلِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَ عُمَرَ أَبَداً وَ لَا إِلَى بَنِي أُمَيَّةَ أَبَداً وَ لَا فِي وُلْدِ طَلْحَةَ وَ الزُّبَيْرِ أَبَداً وَ ذَلِكَ أَنَّهُمْ نَبَذُوا الْقُرْآنَ وَ أَبْطَلُوا السُّنَنَ وَ عَطَّلُوا الْأَحْكَامَ وَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص- الْقُرْآنُ هُدًى مِنَ الضَّلَالِ وَ تِبْيَانٌ مِنَ الْعَمَى وَ اسْتِقَالَةٌ مِنَ الْعَثْرَ

Abu Ali al-Ash’ari has narrated from certain individuals of his people from al- Khashshab in a marfu’ manner from the Imam (a.s.) who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘I swear by Allah, Khilafat (leadership after the Holy Prophet) will never return to the family of abu Bakr and ‘Umar. يَجِي‌ءُ الْقُرْآنُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فِي أَحْسَنِ مَنْظُورٍ إِلَيْهِ صُورَةً فَيَمُرُّ بِالْمُسْلِمِينَ فَيَقُولُونَ هَذَا الرَّجُلُ مِنَّا فَيُجَاوِزُهُمْ إِلَى النَّبِيِّينَ فَيَقُولُونَ هُوَ مِنَّا فَيُجَاوِزُهُمْ إِلَى الْمَلَائِكَةِ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ فَيَقُولُونَ هُوَ مِنَّا حَتَّى يَنْتَهِيَ إِلَى رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فَيَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ فُلَانُ بْنُ فُلَانٍ أَظْمَأْتُ هَوَاجِرَهُ‌[2] وَ أَسْهَرْتُ

“On the Day of Judgment the Holy Quran will come in the best shape and form. He will pass by the Muslims who will say, ‘This man is from us.’ He will pass toward the prophets who will say that he is of us, then he will pass toward the special angels who will say that he is one of us until he is before the Lord of Majes

قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‌ إِنَّ الدَّوَاوِينَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ثَلَاثَةٌ دِيوَانٌ فِيهِ النِّعَمُ وَ دِيوَانٌ فِيهِ الْحَسَنَاتُ وَ دِيوَانٌ فِيهِ السَّيِّئَاتُ فَيُقَابَلُ بَيْنَ دِيوَانِ النِّعَمِ وَ دِيوَانِ الْحَسَنَاتِ فَتَسْتَغْرِقُ النِّعَمُ عَامَّةَ الْحَسَنَاتِ وَ يَبْقَى دِيوَانُ السَّيِّئَاتِ فَيُدْعَى بِابْنِ آدَمَ الْمُؤْمِنِ لِلْحِسَابِ فَيَتَقَدَّمُ الْقُرْآنُ أَمَامَهُ فِي أَحْسَنِ صُورَةٍ فَيَ

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘On the Day of Judgment there will be three books of records: the book of the record of the good deeds, the book of the record of the bounties and the book of the record of the evil deeds. The records of the good deeds and the bounties will be compared and (in a particular case) the rec

قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ع‌ لَوْ مَاتَ مَنْ بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَ الْمَغْرِبِ لَمَا اسْتَوْحَشْتُ بَعْدَ أَنْ يَكُونَ الْقُرْآنُ مَعِي وَ كَانَ ع إِذَا قَرَأَ- مالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ‌ يُكَرِّرُهَا حَتَّى كَادَ أَنْ يَمُوتَ.

“Ali ibn al-Husayn (a.s.) has said, ‘Having the Holy Quran with me I will have no fear or anxiety, even if everyone between the East and West may all die.’ On reading verse four of Chapter 1, “The owner (of the kingdom) on the Day of Judgment,” repeatedly he seemed as if he were about to die.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ تَعَلَّمُوا الْقُرْآنَ فَإِنَّهُ يَأْتِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ صَاحِبَهُ فِي صُورَةِ شَابٍّ جَمِيلٍ شَاحِبِ اللَّوْنِ فَيَقُولُ لَهُ الْقُرْآنُ‌[1] أَنَا الَّذِي كُنْتُ أَسْهَرْتُ لَيْلَكَ وَ أَظْمَأْتُ هَوَاجِرَكَ وَ أَجْفَفْتُ رِيقَكَ وَ أَسَلْتُ دَمْعَتَكَ أَئُولُ مَعَكَ حَيْثُمَا أُلْتَ وَ كُلُّ تَاجِرٍ مِنْ وَرَاءِ تِجَارَتِهِ وَ أَنَا الْيَوْمَ لَكَ مِنْ وَرَاءِ تِجَارَةِ كُلِّ تَاجِرٍ وَ

Through the same chain of narrators it is narrated from abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) who has said the following: ‘‘The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Learn the Holy Quran; on the Day of Judgment it will come to his friends in the form of a most beautiful young person of pale complexion and will speak to his friend saying, “

مَنْ قَرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ وَ هُوَ شَابٌّ مُؤْمِنٌ اخْتَلَطَ الْقُرْآنُ بِلَحْمِهِ وَ دَمِهِ وَ جَعَلَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ مَعَ السَّفَرَةِ الْكِرَامِ الْبَرَرَةِ وَ كَانَ الْقُرْآنُ حَجِيزاً عَنْهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ إِنَّ كُلَّ عَامِلٍ قَدْ أَصَابَ أَجْرَ عَمَلِهِ غَيْرَ عَامِلِي فَبَلِّغْ بِهِ أَكْرَمَ عَطَايَاكَ قَالَ‌ فَيَكْسُوهُ اللَّهُ الْعَزِيزُ الْجَبَّارُ حُلَّتَيْنِ مِنْ حُلَلِ الْجَنَّ

“If a young believing person reads the Holy Quran, it mixes with his flesh and blood. Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, will include him among the honorable and virtuous carriers of the message of Allah and on the Day of Judgment the Holy Quran will be his supporter. The Holy Quran will say, ‘O Lord, every worke

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ قَرَأْتُ الْقُرْآنَ فَفَلَتَ مِنِّي‌[2] فَادْعُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَنْ يُعَلِّمَنِيهِ قَالَ فَكَأَنَّهُ فَزِعَ لِذَلِكَ فَقَالَ عَلَّمَكَ اللَّهُ هُوَ وَ إِيَّانَا جَمِيعاً قَالَ وَ نَحْنُ نَحْوٌ مِنْ عَشَرَةٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ السُّورَةُ تَكُونُ مَعَ الرَّجُلِ قَدْ قَرَأَهَا ثُمَّ تَرَكَهَا فَتَأْتِيهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فِي أَحْسَنِ صُورَةٍ وَ تُسَلِّمُ

“Once I said to abu Abdullah (a.s.) ‘May Allah keep my soul in service for your cause, I had learned the Holy Quran but now it is gone (forgotten). Pray to Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, so I learn it again?’ The narrator has said that the Imam seemed shocked and said, ‘May Allah and all of us help you learn

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع إِنَّ عَلَيَّ دَيْناً كَثِيراً وَ قَدْ دَخَلَنِي مَا كَانَ الْقُرْآنُ يَتَفَلَّتُ مِنِّي فَقَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع- الْقُرْآنَ الْقُرْآنَ إِنَّ الْآيَةَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ وَ السُّورَةَ لَتَجِي‌ءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حَتَّى تَصْعَدَ أَلْفَ دَرَجَةٍ يَعْنِي فِي الْجَنَّةِ فَتَقُولُ لَوْ حَفِظْتَنِي لَبَلَغْتُ بِكَ هَاهُنَا.

‘The Holy Quran, the Holy Quran! On the Day of Judgment the chapter and the verse of the Holy Quran will come and say, ‘Had you not forgotten me I would have taken you today to such and such high ranks in paradise.’”

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ إِنَّهُ أَصَابَتْنِي هُمُومٌ وَ أَشْيَاءُ لَمْ يَبْقَ شَيْ‌ءٌ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ[1] إِلَّا وَ قَدْ تَفَلَّتَ مِنِّي مِنْهُ طَائِفَةٌ حَتَّى الْقُرْآنُ لَقَدْ تَفَلَّتَ مِنِّي طَائِفَةٌ مِنْهُ قَالَ فَفَزِعَ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ حِينَ ذَكَرْتُ الْقُرْآنَ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَنْسَى السُّورَةَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ فَتَأْتِيهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حَتَّى تُشْرِفَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ د

“Once I said to Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) ‘May Allah keep my soul in service for your cause, I am facing such problems and difficulties that I forget so many good things even some of the Holy Quran.’ The Imam was shocked upon my mentioning the Holy Quran and said, ‘If a man forgets a chapter of the Holy Quran, on the Day of

مَا بَعَثَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ نَبِيّاً إِلَّا حَسَنَ الصَّوْتِ.

“Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, never sent a messenger who did not have attractive voice.”

قُلْتُ لَهُ إِنَّ أَبِي سَأَلَ جَدَّكَ عَنْ خَتْمِ الْقُرْآنِ فِي كُلِّ لَيْلَةٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ جَدُّكَ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَ لَهُ جَدُّكَ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبِي نَعَمْ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ فَكَانَ أَبِي يَخْتِمُهُ أَرْبَعِينَ خَتْمَةً فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ ثُمَّ خَتَمْتُهُ بَعْدَ أَبِي فَرُبَّمَا زِدْتُ وَ رُبَّمَا نَقَصْتُ عَلَى قَدْرِ فَرَاغِي وَ شُغُلِي وَ نَشَاطِي وَ ك

“Once I asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.) ‘My father once asked your grandfather about reading all of the Holy Quran in one night.’ ‘(Do you mean it to happen) every night?’ Your grandfather inquired. ‘Yes, in the month of Ramadan.’ My father replied. Your grandfather asked him, ‘In the month of Ramadan?’ My father said, ‘Yes

مَنْ قَرَأَ مِائَةَ آيَةٍ يُصَلِّي بِهَا فِي لَيْلَةٍ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ لَهُ بِهَا قُنُوتَ لَيْلَةٍ وَ مَنْ قَرَأَ مِائَتَيْ آيَةٍ فِي غَيْرِ صَلَاةٍ لَمْ يُحَاجَّهُ الْقُرْآنُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَ مَنْ قَرَأَ خَمْسَمِائَةِ آيَةٍ فِي يَوْمٍ وَ لَيْلَةٍ فِي صَلَاةِ النَّهَارِ وَ اللَّيْلِ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ لَهُ فِي اللَّوْحِ الْمَحْفُوظِ قِنْطَاراً مِنَ الْحَسَنَاتِ وَ الْقِنْطَارُ أَلْفٌ وَ

“Whoever reads one hundred verses of the Holy Quran in prayer in the night, Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, will write down for him the reward for one night’s worshipping. Whoever reads two hundred verses without being in prayer, the Holy Quran, on the Day of Judgment, will not argue against him. Whoever reads

مَنْ كانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَ الْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يَدَعْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ فِي دُبُرِ[1] الْفَرِيضَةِ- بِ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ قَرَأَهَا جَمَعَ اللَّهُ لَهُ خَيْرَ الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ وَ غَفَرَ لَهُ وَ لِوَالِدَيْهِ وَ مَا وَلَدَا.

“Whoever believes in Allah and in the life to come should not ignore reading Chapter 112 ( al-’Ikhlas ) of the Holy Quran after an obligatory prayer. Whoever does so (reads it), Allah will collect for him the good of this and the next life, forgive him, his parents and their children.”

وَ الَّذِي بَعَثَ مُحَمَّداً ص بِالْحَقِّ وَ أَكْرَمَ أَهْلَ بَيْتِهِ مَا مِنْ شَيْ‌ءٍ تَطْلُبُونَهُ مِنْ حِرْزٍ مِنْ حَرَقٍ أَوْ غَرَقٍ أَوْ سَرَقٍ أَوْ إِفْلَاتِ دَابَّةٍ مِنْ صَاحِبِهَا[2] أَوْ ضَالَّةٍ أَوْ آبِقٍ إِلَّا وَ هُوَ فِي الْقُرْآنِ فَمَنْ أَرَادَ ذَلِكَ فَلْيَسْأَلْنِي عَنْهُ قَالَ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَخْبِرْنِي عَمَّا يُؤْمِنُ مِنَ الْحَرَقِ وَ الْغَرَقِ فَقَالَ

“I swear by the One who sent Muhammad (a.s.) with the truth and honored his family, all supplications for protection is in the Holy Quran. In the Holy Quran there is protection against fire, theft, straying of animals from the owner, lost items, or runaway persons. Whoever wants to know, ask me. The narrator has said t

سُورَةُ الْمُلْكِ هِيَ الْمَانِعَةُ تَمْنَعُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ وَ هِيَ مَكْتُوبَةٌ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ سُورَةَ الْمُلْكِ وَ مَنْ قَرَأَهَا فِي لَيْلَتِهِ فَقَدْ أَكْثَرَ وَ أَطَابَ وَ لَمْ يُكْتَبْ بِهَا مِنَ الْغَافِلِينَ وَ إِنِّي لَأَرْكَعُ بِهَا بَعْدَ عِشَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ وَ أَنَا جَالِسٌ وَ إِنَّ وَالِدِي ع كَانَ يَقْرَأُهَا فِي يَوْمِهِ وَ لَيْلَتِهِ وَ مَنْ قَرَأَهَا إِذَا دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ فِي قَبْرِهِ نَاكِرٌ

Surah al-Mulk (Chapter 67) is a protector. It protects against the torment of the grave. It ( Surah al-Mulk) is written in the Torah. Whoever reads it at night has done a great good deed and with it he will not be written of the neglectful ones. I read it in Ruku’ position while, sitting after ‘Isha’ prayer. My father
