كَانَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع إِذَا صَعِدَ الْمِنْبَرَ قَالَ يَنْبَغِي لِلْمُسْلِمِ أَنْ يَتَجَنَّبَ مُوَاخَاةَ ثَلَاثَةٍ الْمَاجِنِ الْفَاجِرِ وَ الْأَحْمَقِ وَ الْكَذَّابِ فَأَمَّا الْمَاجِنُ الْفَاجِرُ فَيُزَيِّنُ لَكَ فِعْلَهُ وَ يُحِبُّ أَنَّكَ مِثْلُهُ وَ لَا يُعِينُكَ عَلَى أَمْرِ دِينِكَ وَ مَعَادِكَ وَ مُقَارَبَتُهُ جَفَاءٌ وَ قَسْوَةٌ وَ مَدْخَلُهُ وَ مَخْرَجُهُ عَارٌ عَلَيْكَ وَ أَمَّا الْأَحْمَقُ فَإِنَّ

مَنْ عَطَسَ ثُمَّ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى قَصَبَةِ أَنْفِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ‌ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعالَمِينَ* الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْداً كَثِيراً كَمَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ وَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ وَ آلِهِ وَ سَلَّمَ خَرَجَ مِنْ مَنْخِرِهِ الْأَيْسَرِ طَائِرٌ أَصْغَرُ مِنَ الْجَرَادِ وَ أَكْبَرُ مِنَ الذُّبَابِ حَتَّى يَسِيرَ تَحْتَ الْعَرْشِ يَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ لَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ.

“If one sneezes, places his hand over his nose and says, ‘All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds, (all praise belongs to Allah), a great deal of praise, as He deserves, Allah has granted al-Salat (favors) and peace upon Muhammad, His Holy Prophet, and the Ahl al-Bay (family of Muhammad), a small flying thing,

“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Whoever recognizes the excellence of an old person due to his age and treats him with dignity, Allah will grant him protection against the horror on the Day of Judgment.’”

“Once Fatimah (a.s.) came to the Messenger of Allah and complained about certain matters. The Messenger of Allah gave her a tablet to read. It was written on the tablet: ‘Whoever believes in Allah and the Day of Judgment must not cause suffering to his neighbor. Whoever believes in Allah and the Day of Judgment must tr

Any (people of the town) who sleep at night with their stomachs full while among them are hungry people, to such people, on the Day of Judgment, Allah will not look with kindness.’”

A woman from among us asked me to bring her to Abu Abdillah (as), so I sought permission for her, and he granted it. She entered, accompanied by her servant. She said to him, “O Abu Abdillah, regarding the verse ‘a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west’ (24:35), what does this mean?” He said to her, “

أَيُّمَا مُؤْمِنٍ عَادَ مُؤْمِناً فِي اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فِي مَرَضِهِ وَكَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهِ مَلَكاً مِنَ الْعُوَّادِ يَعُودُهُ فِي قَبْرِهِ وَ يَسْتَغْفِرُ لَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If a believing person visits a believing patient just for the sake of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious, Allah assigns an angel of the visiting angels to visit him in his grave and ask forgiveness for him up to the Day of Judgment.’”

مَنْ عَادَ مَرِيضاً مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَكَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهِ أَبَداً سَبْعِينَ أَلْفاً مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ يَغْشَوْنَ رَحْلَهُ‌[1] وَ يُسَبِّحُونَ فِيهِ وَ يُقَدِّسُونَ وَ يُهَلِّلُونَ وَ يُكَبِّرُونَ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ نِصْفُ صَلَاتِهِمْ لِعَائِدِ الْمَرِيضِ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that if one visits a Muslim patient, Allah assigns seventy thousand angels who come to his house saying Tasbih, Taqdis, Tahlil and Takbir up to the Day of Judgment. Half of their Salah (prayer) is for the visitor of the patient.”

كَانَ فِيمَا نَاجَى بِهِ مُوسَى رَبَّهُ أَنْ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ مَا بَلَغَ مِنْ عِيَادَةِ الْمَرِيضِ مِنَ الْأَجْرِ[1] فَقَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أُوَكِّلُ بِهِ مَلَكاً يَعُودُهُ فِي قَبْرِهِ إِلَى مَحْشَرِهِ.

‘One of the conversations of Moses with his Lord was this, “O Lord, what is the reward for one who visits a person during his illness?’ Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious, replied, ‘I assign an angel to visit him in his grave until the Day of Judgment.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ لَوْ أَنَّ مُؤْمِناً أَقْسَمَ عَلَى رَبِّهِ أَنْ لَا يُمِيتَهُ مَا أَمَاتَهُ أَبَداً وَ لَكِنْ إِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ أَوْ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَجَلُهُ بَعَثَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِلَيْهِ رِيحَيْنِ رِيحاً يُقَالُ لَهَا الْمُنْسِيَةُ وَ رِيحاً يُقَالُ لَهَا الْمُسْخِيَةُ فَأَمَّا الْمُنْسِيَةُ فَإِنَّهَا تُنْسِيهِ أَهْلَهُ وَ مَالَهُ وَ أَمَّا الْمُسْخِيَةُ فَإِنَّهَا تُسْخِي نَفْسَهُ عَنِ الدُّنْيَا

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah has said, ‘If a believing person appeals before his Lord for a guarantee not to cause him to die He will never cause him to die. However, when it is the time for him to die Allah, the Majestic, the Glorious, sends two fragrances; one is called causing forgetf

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ هَلْ يُكْرَهُ الْمُؤْمِنُ عَلَى قَبْضِ رُوحِهِ قَالَ لَا وَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهُ إِذَا أَتَاهُ مَلَكُ الْمَوْتِ لِقَبْضِ رُوحِهِ جَزِعَ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ فَيَقُولُ لَهُ مَلَكُ الْمَوْتِ يَا وَلِيَّ اللَّهِ لَا تَجْزَعْ فَوَ الَّذِي بَعَثَ مُحَمَّداً ص لَأَنَا أَبَرُّ بِكَ وَ أَشْفَقُ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ وَالِدٍ رَحِيمٍ لَوْ حَضَرَكَ افْتَحْ عَيْنَكَ فَانْظُر

A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn Sulayman from his father from Sadir al-Sayrafiy who has said the following: “Once I said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘May Allah keep my soul in the service of your cause, O child of the Messenger of Allah, is a believing person forced to die?’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once said, ‘O ‘Uqbah, Allah, on the Day of Judgment, will not accept anything other than what you believe in (following Ahl al-Bayt). إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ جَمَعَهُمُ اللَّهُ وَ أَجَّجَ لَهُمْ نَاراً وَ أَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَطْرَحُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ فِيهَا فَمَنْ كَانَ فِي عِلْمِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَنَّهُ سَعِيدٌ رَمَى بِنَفْسِهِ فِيهَا وَ كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِ بَرْداً وَ سَلَاماً وَ مَنْ كَانَ فِي عِلْمِهِ أَنَّهُ شَقِيٌّ امْتَنَعَ فَيَأْمُرُ اللَّهُ بِهِمْ إِلَى النَّارِ فَيَقُولُونَ يَا رَبَّنَا تَأْمُرُ بِنَا إِلَى النَّارِ وَ لَمْ تُجْرِ عَ

“He (the Holy Prophet) was asked about the children and he replied, ‘On the Day of Judgment Allah will bring all of them together, light up for them a fire and command them to throw themselves in it. Those of them who are fortunate in the knowledge of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious, throw themselves in the

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ص‌ مُسْتَرِيحٌ وَ مُسْتَرَاحٌ مِنْهُ أَمَّا الْمُسْتَرِيحُ فَالْعَبْدُ الصَّالِحُ اسْتَرَاحَ مِنْ غَمِّ الدُّنْيَا وَ مَا كَانَ فِيهِ مِنَ الْعِبَادَةِ إِلَى الرَّاحَةِ وَ نَعِيمِ الْآخِرَةِ وَ أَمَّا الْمُسْتَرَاحُ مِنْهُ فَالْفَاجِرُ يَسْتَرِيحُ مِنْهُ الْمَلَكَانِ اللَّذَانِ يَحْفَظَانِ عَلَيْهِ وَ خَادِمُهُ وَ أَهْلُهُ وَ الْأَرْضُ الَّتِي كَانَ يَمْشِي عَلَيْهَا.

Through the same chain of narrators, as the above Hadith, it is narrated who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that the Holy Prophet has said, ‘There is relieved and relieving. The relieved is the believing person who because of death is freed. He is relieved from worldly suffering

سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى‌ وَ قِيلَ مَنْ راقٍ‌ وَ ظَنَّ أَنَّهُ الْفِراقُ‌ قَالَ فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ ابْنُ آدَمَ إِذَا حَلَّ بِهِ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ هَلْ مِنْ طَبِيبٍ إِنَّهُ الْفِرَاقُ أَيْقَنَ بِمُفَارَقَةِ الْأَحِبَّةِ قَالَ‌ وَ الْتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِ‌ الْتَفَّتِ الدُّنْيَا بِالْآخِرَةِ ثُمَ‌ إِلى‌ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمَساقُ‌[1] قَالَ الْمَصِيرُ إِلَى رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ.

“I asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about the words of Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, ‘And it is said, “Who is able to provide curing charm?”’ (75:28-30) The Imam said, ‘That is a son of Adam who on facing death says, “Is there a physician?” “And he finds it to be the departing,” means that he becomes certain about depar
