كَانَ طُولُ رَحْلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص‌ ذِرَاعاً وَ كَانَ إِذَا صَلَّى وَضَعَهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ يَسْتَتِرُ بِهِ مِمَّنْ يَمُرُّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ‌[1].

‘The length of the staff of the Messenger of Allah was one yard and he would place it in his front for a barrier between himself and people passing by.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Allah has made twenty-four things contemptible for you to do and has forbidden you to do them. Allah dislikes that you act as playful during Salah (prayer).’”

إِذَا اسْتَقْبَلْتَ الْقِبْلَةَ بِوَجْهِكَ فَلَا تُقَلِّبْ وَجْهَكَ عَنِ الْقِبْلَةِ فَتَفْسُدَ صَلَاتُكَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ قَالَ لِنَبِيِّهِ ص فِي الْفَرِيضَةِ فَوَلِّ وَجْهَكَ شَطْرَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرامِ وَ حَيْثُ ما كُنْتُمْ فَوَلُّوا وُجُوهَكُمْ شَطْرَهُ‌[4] وَ اخْشَعْ بِبَصَرِكَ وَ لَا تَرْفَعْهُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ[5] وَ لْيَكُنْ حِذَاءَ وَجْهِكَ‌[1] فِي مَوْضِعِ سُجُودِكَ.

لَمَّا هَبَطَ جَبْرَئِيلُ ع بِالْأَذَانِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص كَانَ رَأْسُهُ فِي حَجْرِ عَلِيٍّ ع فَأَذَّنَ جَبْرَئِيلُ ع وَ أَقَامَ فَلَمَّا انْتَبَهَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص قَالَ يَا عَلِيُّ سَمِعْتَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ حَفِظْتَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ ادْعُ بِلَالًا فَعَلِّمْهُ فَدَعَا عَلِيٌّ ع بِلَالًا فَعَلَّمَهُ.

when Jibril (Gabriel) descended with Adhan to the Messenger of Allah, he was resting and his head was on Amir al-Mu’minin Ali’s lap. Jibril then read Adhan and Iqamah. “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘When you say Adhan say Alif and al-Ha’ (two letters of Arabic alphabet) clearly and say O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause whenever you mention his name or someone else mentions his name in Adhan or in other expressions.’”

كَانَ طُولُ حَائِطِ مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص قَامَةً فَكَانَ يَقُولُ ص لِبِلَالٍ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْوَقْتُ يَا بِلَالُ اعْلُ فَوْقَ الْجِدَارِ وَ ارْفَعْ صَوْتَكَ بِالْأَذَانِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ وَكَّلَ بِالْأَذَانِ رِيحاً تَرْفَعُهُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ وَ إِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ إِذَا سَمِعُوا الْأَذَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ قَالُوا هَذِهِ أَصْوَاتُ أُمَّةِ مُحَمَّدٍ ص بِتَوْحِيدِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ يَسْتَغْفِرُو

الرَّجُلُ إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنَ الْأَذَانِ وَ جَلَسَ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ قَلْبِي بَارّاً وَ عَيْشِي قَارّاً وَ رِزْقِي دَارّاً وَ اجْعَلْ لِي عِنْدَ قَبْرِ نَبِيِّكَ ص قَرَاراً وَ مُسْتَقَرّاً[2].

‘When one completes reciting Adhan and sits down he should say, “O Lord, make my heart virtuous, my livelihood constant, my sustenance to come continuously and assign for me a place near the grave of your prophet to rest and dwell.’”

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ وَ خَرَجَ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ فَلْيَقِفْ بِبَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ ثُمَّ لْيَقُلِ- اللَّهُمَّ دَعَوْتَنِي فَأَجَبْتُ دَعْوَتَكَ وَ صَلَّيْتُ مَكْتُوبَتَكَ وَ انْتَشَرْتُ فِي أَرْضِكَ كَمَا أَمَرْتَنِي فَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَمَلَ بِطَاعَتِكَ وَ اجْتِنَابَ سَخَطِكَ وَ الْكَفَافَ مِنَ الرِّزْقِ بِرَحْمَتِكَ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once said to me, ‘Whatever you say of Allah and the Holy prophet is of Salah (prayer). As soon as you say the phrase, ‘I appeal before Allah to send peace on us and on the virtuous servants of Allah’, you have ended Salah (prayer).”’

“I asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about a man who has forgotten al-Qunut then remembers somewhere on the way. The Imam said, ‘He should turn toward Qiblah and say it.’ He then said, ‘I do not like a man’s ignoring traditions of the Messenger of Allah or abandoning them altogether.’”

مَا عُبِدَ اللَّهُ بِشَيْ‌ءٍ مِنَ التَّحْمِيدِ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ تَسْبِيحِ فَاطِمَةَ ع وَ لَوْ كَانَ شَيْ‌ءٌ أَفْضَلَ مِنْهُ لَنَحَلَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص فَاطِمَةَ ع.

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘In worshipping Allah in the form of praises no other thing is better than Tasbih of Fatimah al-Zahra’, ‘Alayha al-Salam. If anything other than this could make a better gift the Messenger of Allah would have instead given to Fatimah al-Zahra’, ‘Alayha al-Salam.’”

‘The Messenger of Allah has said, “If one of you doubts in his Salah (prayer) and does not know if he has increased or decreased, he performs two Sajdah (prostration) while sitting.” The Messenger of Allah has called it humiliating (Satan).’”

‘In the name of Allah and with Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause.’ Al-Halabiy has said that I heard him (the Imam) in another time say, ‘In the name of Allah and with Allah, O Holy prophet, Allah has granted you kindness and blessings.”’

“I heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), say, ‘The Messenger of Allah once said Salam (the phrase of offering greeting of peace) in two Rak‘at and those behind him asked, “O Messenger of Allah, has something happened to Salah (prayer)?” The Messenger of Allah asked, “Why is that?” They replied, “You performed only two Rak‘at.”
