Sanctity of al-Madinah

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ: قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ص مَكَّةُ حَرَمُ اللَّهِ وَ الْمَدِينَةُ حَرَمُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص وَ الْكُوفَةُ حَرَمِي لَا يُرِيدُهَا جَبَّارٌ بِحَادِثَةٍ إِلَّا قَصَمَهُ اللَّهُ.

’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘Makkah is the sacred place of Allah and al-Madinah is the sacred place of the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause. Al-Kufah is my sacred place. Whoever of the tyrants may want to have it through eventful ways, All

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع حَرَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص الْمَدِينَةَ قَالَ نَعَمْ حَرَّمَ بَرِيداً فِي بَرِيدٍ غَضَاها قَالَ قُلْتُ صَيْدَهَا قَالَ لَا يَكْذِبُ النَّاسُ‌[1].

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ’Is al-Madinah the sacred place of the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause?’ He (the Imam) replied, ’Yes, he made it a one square Barid (a certain area of land) with its trees an area of sacred status.’ I

قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‌ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ زِيَادِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَ عِنْدَهُ رَبِيعَةُ الرَّأْيِ فَقَالَ زِيَادٌ مَا الَّذِي حَرَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ بَرِيدٌ فِي بَرِيدٍ فَقَالَ لِرَبِيعَةَ وَ كَانَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص أَمْيَالٌ فَسَكَتَ وَ لَمْ يُجِبْهُ فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيَّ زِيَادٌ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مَا تَقُولُ أَنْتَ فَقُلْتُ حَرَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص م

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Once I was in the meeting of Ziyad ibn ‘Abd Allah and Rabi’ah al-Ra’iy was also there. Ziyad said, ‘What is the area which the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has made a place of sacred status in al-Mad

حَدُّ مَا حَرَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ مِنْ ذُبَابٍ إِلَى وَاقِمٍ وَ الْعُرَيْضِ وَ النَّقْبِ مِنْ قِبَلِ مَكَّةَ[2].

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ إِنَّ مَكَّةَ حَرَمُ اللَّهِ حَرَّمَهَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ ع وَ إِنَّ الْمَدِينَةَ حَرَمِي مَا بَيْنَ لَابَتَيْهَا حَرَمٌ لَا يُعْضَدُ شَجَرُهَا- وَ هُوَ مَا بَيْنَ ظِلِّ عَائِرٍ إِلَى ظِلِّ وُعَيْرٍ وَ لَيْسَ صَيْدُهَا كَصَيْدِ مَكَّةَ يُؤْكَلُ هَذَا وَ لَا يُؤْكَلُ ذَلِكَ وَ هُوَ بَرِيدٌ[1].

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ مَنْ أَحْدَثَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ حَدَثاً أَوْ آوَى مُحْدِثاً فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ قُلْتُ وَ مَا الْحَدَثُ قَالَ الْقَتْلُ.

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, and Muhammad Bin Ismail, from Al Fazl Bin Shazaan, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Jameel Bin Darraj who said, ‘I heard Abu Abdullah asws saying: ‘Rasool-Allah saww said: ‘Whoever causes an incident in Al-Medina or shelters an incident maker, so upon him is the Curse of Allah azwj ’.
