وَ لَوْ أَرَادَ اللَّهُ جَلَّ ثَنَاؤُهُ بِأَنْبِيَائِهِ حَيْثُ بَعَثَهُمْ أَنْ يَفْتَحَ لَهُمْ كُنُوزَ الذِّهْبَانِ وَ مَعَادِنَ الْعِقْيَانِ‌[3] وَ مَغَارِسَ الْجِنَانِ وَ أَنْ يَحْشُرَ طَيْرَ السَّمَاءِ وَ وَحْشَ الْأَرْضِ مَعَهُمْ لَفَعَلَ وَ لَوْ فَعَلَ لَسَقَطَ الْبَلَاءُ وَ بَطَلَ الْجَزَاءُ وَ اضْمَحَلَّتِ الْأَنْبَاءُ وَ لَمَا وَجَبَ لِلْقَائِلِينَ أُجُورُ الْمُبْتَلَيْنَ‌[4] وَ لَا لَحِقَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ثَوَ

It is narrated that ’Amir al-Mu’minin once said in his sermon the following: “’Amir al-Mu’minin, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that if Allah, Glorious is whose praise, wanted, He could have opened to His prophets the treasures of gold (stored), mines of pure growing gold, placed at their disposal, gardens of plantation

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that when Isma‘il was born, Ibrahim (a.s.), carried him and his mother on a donkey and Jibril also came along with them. “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that when Ibrahim (a.s.), left Isma‘il behind in Makkah, the child became thirsty. Between al-Safa’ and al-Marwah there was a tree. “One of the two Imam, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, has said that Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious, commanded Ibrahim to build al-Ka‘bah, to raise its foundations and show people how to perform the acts of their hajj. كَانَتِ الْكَعْبَةُ عَلَى عَهْدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ع تِسْعَةَ أَذْرُعٍ وَ كَانَ لَهَا بَابَانِ فَبَنَاهَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ فَرَفَعَهَا ثَمَانِيَةَ عَشَرَ ذِرَاعاً فَهَدَمَهَا الْحَجَّاجُ فَبَنَاهَا سَبْعَةً وَ عِشْرِينَ ذِرَاعاً.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the height of al-Ka‘bah at the time of Ibrahim was nine yards and it had two doors. ‘Abd Allah ibn Zubayr raised it to eighteen yards. Hajjaj destroyed it and raised it to twenty-seven yards.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the height of al-Ka‘bah in those days was nine yards and it did not have a roof. Quraysh made a roof for it with height of eighteen yards, with which it remained until Hajjaj destroyed it on (during his fight with) ibn al-Zubayr. He rebuilt it and made it twenty-seven yards high.’”

سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَمَّا زَادُوا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ع حَدَّا الْمَسْجِدَ الْحَرَامَ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَ الْمَرْوَةِ.[4]
