قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص أَ لَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِشَرِّ النَّاسِ قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ مَنْ سَافَرَ وَحْدَهُ وَ مَنَعَ رِفْدَهُ[1] وَ ضَرَبَ عَبْدَهُ.
The Messenger of Allah (swt) (peace and blessings of Allah (swt) be upon him and his family) said: "Shall I inform you of the worst of people?" They said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah (swt)." He (sw) said: "The one who travels alone, denies giving aid, and strikes their servant."
فِي وَصِيَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص لِعَلِيٍّ ع لَا تَخْرُجْ فِي سَفَرٍ وَحْدَكَ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ مَعَ الْوَاحِدِ وَ هُوَ مِنَ الِاثْنَيْنِ أَبْعَدُ يَا عَلِيُّ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ إِذَا سَافَرَ وَحْدَهُ فَهُوَ غَاوٍ وَ الِاثْنَانِ غَاوِيَانِ وَ الثَّلَاثَةُ نَفَرٌ وَ رَوَى بَعْضُهُمْ سَفْرٌ[2]
وَ رَوَى إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ مُوسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص ثَلَاثَةً الْآكِلَ زَادَهُ وَحْدَهُ وَ النَّائِمَ فِي بَيْتٍ وَحْدَهُ وَ الرَّاكِبَ فِي الْفَلَاةِ وَحْدَهُ[3].
"The Messenger of Allah (swt) (peace and blessings of Allah (swt) be upon him and his family) cursed three: the one who eats their provisions alone, the one who sleeps alone in a house, and the one who travels alone in the wilderness."
لَهُ مَنْ صَحِبَكَ فَقَالَ مَا صَحِبْتُ أَحَداً فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع أَمَا لَوْ كُنْتُ تَقَدَّمْتُ إِلَيْكَ لَأَحْسَنْتُ أَدَبَكَ[4] ثُمَّ قَالَ وَاحِدٌ شَيْطَانٌ وَ اثْنَانِ شَيْطَانَانِ وَ ثَلَاثَةٌ صَحْبٌ وَ أَرْبَعَةٌ رُفَقَاءُ[5].
"I was with Abu Abdullah (as) in Mecca when a man from Medina came to him. Imam (as) asked the man: 'Who accompanied you?' The man replied: 'No one accompanied me.'
