حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع بِحَدِيثٍ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ أَ لَيْسَ زَعَمْتَ لِيَ السَّاعَةَ كَذَا وَ كَذَا فَقَالَ لَا فَعَظُمَ ذَلِكَ عَلَيَّ فَقُلْتُ بَلَى وَ اللَّهِ زَعَمْتَ فَقَالَ لَا وَ اللَّهِ مَا زَعَمْتُهُ قَالَ فَعَظُمَ عَلَيَّ فَقُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ بَلَى وَ اللَّهِ قَدْ قُلْتَهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَدْ قُلْتُهُ أَ مَا عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ كُلَّ زَعْمٍ فِي الْقُرْآنِ كَذِبٌ‌[2].

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) stated to me a Hadith and I said, ‘May Allah keep my soul in service for your cause, did you not have a (Za’m) about me a while ago of such and such nature?’ The Imam said, ‘No.’ The narrator has said that it became very hard for me to understand and I said, ‘Yes, by Allah you did have such (Za’m

كَانَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ص يَقُولُ‌ إِيَّاكُمْ وَ الْكَذِبَ فَإِنَّ كُلَّ رَاجٍ طَالِبٌ وَ كُلَّ خَائِفٍ هَارِبٌ

“Amir al-Mifminin, Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.) would say, ‘Beware of lying; every hopeful strives to make his wish come true and every fearful person runs away (and I do not find this quality in you).”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ لَا كَذَبَ عَلَى مُصْلِحٍ ثُمَّ تَلَا أَيَّتُهَا الْعِيرُ إِنَّكُمْ لَسارِقُونَ‌ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَ اللَّهِ مَا سَرَقُوا وَ مَا كَذَبَ ثُمَّ تَلَا- بَلْ فَعَلَهُ كَبِيرُهُمْ هذا فَسْئَلُوهُمْ إِنْ كانُوا يَنْطِقُونَ‌ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَ اللَّهِ مَا فَعَلُوهُ وَ مَا كَذَبَ.

“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘A peace maker is not accused of lying’ and then he read the following verse of the Holy Quran: . O people of camel, you are thieves.’ (12:70) Then he said, ‘By Allah, they did not steal and he (Joseph) did not lie.’ Then he read the following verse: ‘. . . in fact, it is the large one

مَنْ لَقِيَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ بِوَجْهَيْنِ وَ لِسَانَيْنِ جَاءَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَ لَهُ لِسَانَانِ مِنْ نَارٍ.

“Whoever meets the Muslims with two faces and tongues, he on the Day of Judgment will be raised with two tongues of fire.”

بِئْسَ الْعَبْدُ عَبْدٌ يَكُونُ ذَا وَجْهَيْنِ وَ ذَا لِسَانَيْنِ يُطْرِي أَخَاهُ شَاهِداً وَ يَأْكُلُهُ غَائِباً[2] إِنْ أُعْطِيَ حَسَدَهُ وَ إِنِ ابْتُلِيَ خَذَلَهُ.

“The worst servant (of Allah) is a servant who has two faces and tongues. He praises his brother (in belief) on his face and backbites him in his absence. If his brother (in belief) gains something, he envies him, and if he faces difficult conditions, he betrays him.”

قَالَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى لِعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ ع يَا عِيسَى لِيَكُنْ لِسَانُكَ فِي السِّرِّ وَ الْعَلَانِيَةِ لِسَاناً وَاحِداً وَ كَذَلِكَ قَلْبُكَ إِنِّي أُحَذِّرُكَ نَفْسَكَ وَ كَفَى بِي خَبِيراً لَا يَصْلُحُ لِسَانَانِ فِي فَمٍ وَاحِدٍ وَ لَا سَيْفَانِ فِي غِمْدٍ وَاحِدٍ وَ لَا قَلْبَانِ فِي صَدْرٍ وَاحِدٍ وَ كَذَلِكَ الْأَذْهَانُ.

فِي وَصِيَّةِ الْمُفَضَّلِ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ‌ لَا يَفْتَرِقُ رَجُلَانِ عَلَى الْهِجْرَانِ إِلَّا اسْتَوْجَبَ أَحَدُهُمَا الْبَرَاءَةَ وَ اللَّعْنَةَ وَ رُبَّمَا اسْتَحَقَّ ذَلِكَ كِلَاهُمَا فَقَالَ لَهُ مُعَتِّبٌ جَعَلَنِيَ اللَّهُ فِدَاكَ هَذَا الظَّالِمُ فَمَا بَالُ الْمَظْلُومِ قَالَ لِأَنَّهُ لَا يَدْعُو أَخَاهُ إِلَى صِلَتِهِ وَ لَا يَتَغَامَسُ لَهُ عَنْ كَلَامِهِ‌[1] سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ

“I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) saying, ‘Of the two people who depart each other to abandon and walk out on each other, one is subject to disowning and condemnation or perhaps both of them will face such conditions.’ Mu’attib then said, ‘May Allah keep my soul in service for your cause, one is unjust, what about the oppr

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ لَا هِجْرَةَ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ.

“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘(Due to) walking out on another person (separation) should not continue more than three days.’”

سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَصْرِمُ‌[4] ذَوِي قَرَابَتِهِ مِمَّنْ لَا يَعْرِفُ الْحَقَّ قَالَ لَا يَنْبَغِي لَهُ أَنْ يَصْرِمَهُ.

“Once I asked Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) about a man who has forsaken his relatives who do not recognize the truth.’ The Imam said, ‘It is not proper for him to abandon them.’”

كَانَ عِنْدَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا يُلَقَّبُ شَلَقَانَ‌[1] وَ كَانَ قَدْ صَيَّرَهُ فِي نَفَقَتِهِ وَ كَانَ سَيِّئَ الْخُلُقِ فَهَجَرَهُ فَقَالَ لِي يَوْماً يَا مُرَازِمُ وَ تُكَلِّمُ عِيسَى‌[2] فَقُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ أَصَبْتَ لَا خَيْرَ فِي الْمُهَاجَرَةِ.

“In the presence of Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) there was a man from our people, also called Shalqan. The Imam had appointed him over his household expenses (included among his dependents) but he had bad manners so he was removed from the job (by Murazim). One day the Imam asked me, ‘O Murazim, have you talked to ‘Isa (Shalqa

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ قَالَ أَبِي ع قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ أَيُّمَا مُسْلِمَيْنِ تَهَاجَرَا فَمَكَثَا ثَلَاثاً لَا يَصْطَلِحَانِ إِلَّا كَانَا خَارِجَيْنِ مِنَ الْإِسْلَامِ‌[3] وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ بَيْنَهُمَا وَلَايَةٌ فَأَيُّهُمَا سَبَقَ إِلَى كَلَامِ أَخِيهِ كَانَ السَّابِقَ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ- يَوْمَ الْحِسَابِ.

‘Whoever of two Muslims forsake the other and do not make peace within three days they both will be considered out of Islam and there will be no Divine Guardianship relations among them. Whoever of the two speaks first to the other, he, on the Day of Judgment, will be the first one to enter paradise.’”

إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يُغْرِي بَيْنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَا لَمْ يَرْجِعْ أَحَدُهُمْ عَنْ دِينِهِ‌[4] فَإِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ اسْتَلْقَى عَلَى قَفَاهُ وَ تَمَدَّدَ[5] ثُمَّ قَالَ فُزْتُ فَرَحِمَ اللَّهُ امْرَأً أَلَّفَ بَيْنَ وَلِيَّيْنِ لَنَا يَا مَعْشَرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ تَأَلَّفُوا وَ تَعَاطَفُوا.

“Satan keeps throwing animosity among the believers until one of them forsakes his religion. When this happens, Satan stretches down on his back and says, ‘This is my victory.’ May Allah grant blessings to those who make peace between two of our friends. O believing people, unite and be compassionate to each other.”’

لَا يَزَالُ إِبْلِيسُ فَرِحاً مَا اهْتَجَرَ الْمُسْلِمَانِ فَإِذَا الْتَقَيَا اصْطَكَّتْ رُكْبَتَاهُ‌[1] وَ تَخَلَّعَتْ أَوْصَالُهُ وَ نَادَى يَا وَيْلَهُ مَا لَقِيَ مِنَ الثُّبُورِ[2].

“As long as two Muslims continue abandoning each other, Satan enjoys it. When they meet, his (Satan’s) knees began to shake and his bone joints began to come apart and he cries, ‘Woe upon me; I have to face this destruction!’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ فِي حَدِيثٍ أَلَا إِنَّ فِي التَّبَاغُضِ الْحَالِقَةَ لَا أَعْنِي حَالِقَةَ الشَّعْرِ وَ لَكِنْ حَالِقَةَ الدِّينِ.

“The Messenger of Allah has said in a Hadith, ‘It must be noted that in hatred there is shaving. I do not mean thereby shaving and tearing out of hairs, but it is shaving (destruction) of religion.’”

قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‌ اتَّقُوا الْحَالِقَةَ فَإِنَّهَا تُمِيتُ الرِّجَالَ قُلْتُ وَ مَا الْحَالِقَةُ قَالَ قَطِيعَةُ الرَّحِمِ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Be afraid of al -Haliqah; it kills men.’ 1 then asked, ‘What is al-HaliqahV The Imam said, ‘It is failing to maintain good relations with relatives.’”

قُلْتُ لَهُ إِنَّ إِخْوَتِي وَ بَنِي عَمِّي قَدْ ضَيَّقُوا عَلَيَّ الدَّارَ وَ أَلْجَئُونِي مِنْهَا إِلَى بَيْتٍ وَ لَوْ تَكَلَّمْتُ أَخَذْتُ‌[3] مَا فِي أَيْدِيهِمْ قَالَ فَقَالَ لِيَ اصْبِرْ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ سَيَجْعَلُ لَكَ فَرَجاً قَالَ فَانْصَرَفْتُ وَ وَقَعَ الْوَبَاءُ فِي سَنَةِ إِحْدَى وَ ثَلَاثِينَ وَ مِائَةٍ[4]- فَمَاتُوا وَ اللَّهِ كُلُّهُمْ فَمَا بَقِيَ مِنْهُمْ أَحَدٌ قَالَ فَخَرَجْتُ فَلَمَّا دَخَلْتُ عَل

“Once I (Tsa) said to Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) ‘My brothers and cousins have made life very difficult for me. They have forced me out of the house to another house. If I talk to them I am capable to take away what is in their hands.’ The Imam said, ‘Be patient. Allah will make a way out for you.’ I (the narrator) changed m

فِي كِتَابِ عَلِيٍّ ع ثَلَاثُ خِصَالٍ لَا يَمُوتُ صَاحِبُهُنَّ أَبَداً حَتَّى يَرَى وَبَالَهُنَّ الْبَغْيُ وَ قَطِيعَةُ الرَّحِمِ وَ الْيَمِينُ الْكَاذِبَةُ يُبَارِزُ اللَّهَ بِهَا وَ إِنَّ أَعْجَلَ الطَّاعَةِ ثَوَاباً لَصِلَةُ الرَّحِمِ وَ إِنَّ الْقَوْمَ لَيَكُونُونَ فُجَّاراً فَيَتَوَاصَلُونَ فَتَنْمِي أَمْوَالُهُمْ وَ يُثْرُونَ‌[2] وَ إِنَّ الْيَمِينَ الْكَاذِبَةَ وَ قَطِيعَةَ الرَّحِمِ لَتَذَرَانِ الدِّيَارَ بَل

“It is written in the book of Ali (a.s.) ‘There are three characteristics, that if found in anyone, he will never die before suffering their consequences: treachery, failing to maintain good relations with relatives and taking a false oath to oppose Allah thereby. Of the acts of obedience with the quickest best result

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَشَكَا إِلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع أَقَارِبَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ اكْظِمْ غَيْظَكَ وَ افْعَلْ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُمْ يَفْعَلُونَ وَ يَفْعَلُونَ فَقَالَ أَ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَكُونَ مِثْلَهُمْ فَلَا يَنْظُرَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْكُمْ.

“Once a man came to Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) and complained before him about his relatives. Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) said, ‘Keep your anger down and do it (maintain good relations).’ The man said, ‘They do and do it (act against me).’ The Imam asked, ‘Do you also want to act like them, if so Allah will not look to you (with k

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ لَا تَقْطَعْ رَحِمَكَ وَ إِنْ قَطَعَتْكَ.

“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Do not fail to maintain good relations with relatives, even if they fail to maintain good relations with you.’”

قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع فِي خُطْبَتِهِ‌ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الذُّنُوبِ الَّتِي تُعَجِّلُ الْفَنَاءَ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْكَوَّاءِ الْيَشْكُرِيُ‌[4] فَقَالَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَ وَ تَكُونُ ذُنُوبٌ‌ تُعَجِّلُ الْفَنَاءَ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ وَيْلَكَ قَطِيعَةُ الرَّحِمِ إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ لَيَجْتَمِعُونَ وَ يَتَوَاسَوْنَ وَ هُمْ فَجَرَةٌ فَيَرْزُقُهُمُ اللَّهُ وَ إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْبَيْت

‘I seek refuge in Allah from sins that accelerate destruction.’ The narrator has said that at this point ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Kawwa’ al-Yashkuri stood up and asked, ‘O Amir al-Mu’minin, do sins hasten one’s destruction?’ The Imam said, ‘Yes, it does. Woe upon you, it is failing to maintain good relations with relatives. A

قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع‌ إِذَا قَطَّعُوا الْأَرْحَامَ جُعِلَتِ الْأَمْوَالُ فِي أَيْدِي الْأَشْرَارِ.

‘When they fail to maintain good relations with relatives properties are left under the control of the evil ones.’”

أَدْنَى الْعُقُوقِ أُفٍّ وَ لَوْ عَلِمَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ شَيْئاً أَهْوَنَ مِنْهُ لَنَهَى عَنْهُ‌[1].

“Minimum of al-‘Uquq, (to cause disappointment) is to say ‘Uff (expression of disapproval). Had Allah, the Majestic, the Glorious, known anything expressing a lesser degree of disappointment than this ‘Uff, He would have prohibited it.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ كُنْ بَارّاً وَ اقْتَصِرْ عَلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَ إِنْ كُنْتَ عَاقّاً فَظّاً فَاقْتَصِرْ عَلَى النَّارِ[2].

“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Be good (to parents), you will have paradise, if you cause suffering (to parents) and are hardheaded, then be prepared to suffer in the fire.”’

إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ كُشِفَ غِطَاءٌ مِنْ أَغْطِيَةِ الْجَنَّةِ فَوَجَدَ رِيحَهَا مَنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ رُوحٌ مِنْ مَسِيرَةِ خَمْسِمِائَةِ عَامٍ إِلَّا صِنْفٌ وَاحِدٌ قُلْتُ مَنْ هُمْ قَالَ الْعَاقُّ لِوَالِدَيْهِ.

“When it will be the Day of Judgment a curtain of the curtains of paradise will rise and everything with a spirit will sense its fragrance from a distance of a five hundred years journey except one group of people.’ I (the narrator) has said that then asked, ‘Who is that group?’ The Imam said, ‘It is those who cause su

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ فَوْقَ كُلِّ ذِي بِرٍّ بَرٌّ حَتَّى يُقْتَلَ الرَّجُلُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَإِذَا قُتِلَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَلَيْسَ فَوْقَهُ بِرٌّ وَ إِنَّ فَوْقَ كُلِّ عُقُوقٍ عُقُوقاً حَتَّى يَقْتُلَ الرَّجُلُ أَحَدَ وَالِدَيْهِ فَإِذَا فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ فَلَيْسَ فَوْقَهُ عُقُوقٌ.

“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Over and above every virtuous deed there is a virtuous deed, up to a man’s accepting martyrdom and being killed for the cause of Allah. When he is killed for the cause of Allah, then there is no virtuous deed over and above it. Also, over and above every sin of causing suffering and d

مَنْ نَظَرَ إِلَى أَبَوَيْهِ نَظَرَ مَاقِتٍ وَ هُمَا ظَالِمَانِ لَهُ لَمْ يَقْبَلِ اللَّهُ لَهُ صَلَاةً.

“If one looks with anger to his parents when they are unjust to him, Allah will not accept any of his prayers.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص فِي كَلَامٍ لَهُ‌ إِيَّاكُمْ وَ عُقُوقَ الْوَالِدَيْنِ فَإِنَّ رِيحَ الْجَنَّةِ تُوجَدُ مِنْ مَسِيرَةِ أَلْفِ عَامٍ وَ لَا يَجِدُهَا عَاقٌّ وَ لَا قَاطِعُ رَحِمٍ وَ لَا شَيْخٌ زَانٍ وَ لَا جَارُّ إِزَارِهِ خُيَلَاءَ إِنَّمَا الْكِبْرِيَاءُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ‌[1].

“The Messenger of Allah has said in one of his speeches, ‘Beware of causing suffering and disappointment to parents. The fragrance of paradise can be sensed from a distance of a one thousand year journey, but those causing suffering and disappointments to parents, those failing to maintain good relations with relatives

لَوْ عَلِمَ اللَّهُ شَيْئاً أَدْنَى مِنْ أُفٍّ لَنَهَى عَنْهُ وَ هُوَ مِنْ أَدْنَى الْعُقُوقِ وَ مِنَ الْعُقُوقِ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ الرَّجُلُ إِلَى وَالِدَيْهِ فَيُحِدَّ النَّظَرَ إِلَيْهِمَا.

“Had Allah known anything expressing a lesser degree of disappointment than ‘Uff, He would have prohibited to use it against parents. Using the expression ‘Uff is the minimum form of causing suffering and disappointment to parents. Of the cases of causing suffering and disappointment to parents is one’s look and starin

إِنَّ أَبِي نَظَرَ إِلَى رَجُلٍ وَ مَعَهُ ابْنُهُ يَمْشِي وَ الِابْنُ مُتَّكِئٌ عَلَى ذِرَاعِ الْأَبِ قَالَ فَمَا كَلَّمَهُ أَبِي ع مَقْتاً لَهُ حَتَّى فَارَقَ الدُّنْيَا.

8. Ali has narrated from his father from Harun ibn al-Jahm from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sulayman from abu la’ far (a.s.) who has said the following: “Once, my father saw a man walking with his son who was leaning against his father’s arm. My father in dislike never spoke to him until he left this world.”

أَدْنَى الْعُقُوقِ أُفٍّ وَ لَوْ عَلِمَ اللَّهُ أَيْسَرَ مِنْهُ لَنَهَى عَنْهُ.[3]

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘The minimum form of causing suffering and disappointment to parents is the expression, ‘Uff. Had Allah known anything less disappointing than ‘Uff, He would have prohibited it.’”

كَفَرَ بِاللَّهِ مَنْ تَبَرَّأَ مِنْ نَسَبٍ وَ إِنْ دَقَ‌[2].

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘It is to disbelieve Allah to disown one’s lineage even though it (the lineage) is very lowly.’”

كَفَرَ بِاللَّهِ مَنْ تَبَرَّأَ مِنْ نَسَبٍ وَ إِنْ دَقَّ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘It is to disbelieve Allah to disown one’s lineage even though it is very lowly.’”

أَنَّهُمَا قَالا كُفْرٌ بِاللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ الِانْتِفَاءُ مِنْ حَسَبٍ وَ إِنْ دَقَ‌[3]

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said, ‘It is to disbelieve Allah, the Most Great, to disown one’s lineage even though it is very lowly. ’”

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ‌ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ لِيَأْذَنْ بِحَرْبٍ مِنِّي مَنْ آذَى عَبْدِيَ الْمُؤْمِنَ وَ لْيَأْمَنْ غَضَبِي مَنْ أَكْرَمَ عَبْدِيَ الْمُؤْمِنَ وَ لَوْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مِنْ خَلْقِي فِي الْأَرْضِ فِيمَا بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَ الْمَغْرِبِ إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ وَاحِدٌ مَعَ إِمَامٍ عَادِلٍ لَاسْتَغْنَيْتُ بِعِبَادَتِهِمَا عَنْ جَمِيعِ مَا خَلَقْتُ فِي أَرْضِي وَ لَقَامَتْ سَبْعُ سَمَاوَاتٍ

قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‌ إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ نَادَى مُنَادٍ أَيْنَ الصُّدُودُ لِأَوْلِيَائِي‌[1] فَيَقُومُ قَوْمٌ لَيْسَ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمْ لَحْمٌ فَيُقَالُ هَؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ آذَوُا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ نَصَبُوا لَهُمْ وَ عَانَدُوهُمْ وَ عَنَّفُوهُمْ فِي دِينِهِمْ ثُمَّ يُؤْمَرُ بِهِمْ إِلَى جَهَنَّمَ.

‘When it will be the Day of Judgment, an announcer will announce, ‘‘Where are those causing obstacles and hindrance for My friends.” A people will rise who will have no flesh on their faces. It will be said, ‘These are the one’s who made the believers suffer; treated them with animosity, opposition, and violence in the

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى مَنْ أَهَانَ لِي وَلِيّاً فَقَدْ أَرْصَدَ لِمُحَارَبَتِي‌[2].

‘‘The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Allah, the Most Blessed, the Most High, has said, ‘‘Whoever insults any of My friends has waged a war against Me.’”

مَنْ حَقَّرَ مُؤْمِناً مِسْكِيناً أَوْ غَيْرَ مِسْكِينٍ لَمْ يَزَلِ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ حَاقِراً لَهُ مَاقِتاً حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ عَنْ مَحْقَرَتِهِ إِيَّاهُ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Whoever looks down upon a believer, destitute or not, Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, continues looking down upon him and hate him until he changes his attitude as such toward a believer.’”

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ‌ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى يَقُولُ مَنْ أَهَانَ لِي وَلِيّاً فَقَدْ أَرْصَدَ لِمُحَارَبَتِي وَ أَنَا أَسْرَعُ شَيْ‌ءٍ إِلَى نُصْرَةِ أَوْلِيَائِي.

“I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) saying, ‘Allah, the Most Blessed, the Most High, says, ‘Whoever insults any of My friends has waged a war against Me. I am the quickest to support My friends.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ قَدْ نَابَذَنِي مَنْ أَذَلَّ عَبْدِيَ الْمُؤْمِنَ‌[1].

“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, has said, ‘To cause suffering to My believing servant is certainly a declaration of animosity against Me.’”

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ مَنْ أَهَانَ لِي وَلِيّاً فَقَدْ أَرْصَدَ لِمُحَارَبَتِي وَ مَا تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيَّ عَبْدٌ بِشَيْ‌ءٍ أَحَبَّ إِلَيَّ مِمَّا افْتَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِ وَ إِنَّهُ لَيَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَيَّ بِالنَّافِلَةِ حَتَّى أُحِبَّهُ فَإِذَا أَحْبَبْتُهُ كُنْتُ سَمْعَهُ الَّذِي يَسْمَعُ بِهِ وَ بَصَرَهُ الَّذِي يُبْصِرُ بِهِ وَ لِسَانَهُ الَّذِي يَنْ

“I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) saying, ‘The Messenger of Allah has said, “Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, has said, ‘Whoever insults any of My friends has waged a war against Me. Whoever of the servant seeks closeness to Me should know that there is nothing in that matter more beloved to Me than his fulfilling

لَمَّا أُسْرِيَ بِالنَّبِيِّ ص قَالَ يَا رَبِّ مَا حَالُ الْمُؤْمِنِ عِنْدَكَ- قَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ مَنْ أَهَانَ لِي وَلِيّاً فَقَدْ بَارَزَنِي بِالْمُحَارَبَةِ وَ أَنَا أَسْرَعُ شَيْ‌ءٍ إِلَى نُصْرَةِ أَوْلِيَائِي وَ مَا تَرَدَّدْتُ عَنْ شَيْ‌ءٍ أَنَا فَاعِلُهُ كَتَرَدُّدِي عَنْ وَفَاةِ الْمُؤْمِنِ يَكْرَهُ الْمَوْتَ وَ أَكْرَهُ مَسَاءَتَهُ وَ إِنَّ مِنْ عِبَادِيَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَنْ لَا يُصْلِحُهُ إِلَّا الْغِنَى وَ

When the Prophet (sw) was taken on the night journey (al-Isra), he said, "O my Lord, what is the condition of the believer with You?" Allah said, "O Muhammad, whoever dishonors My friend has declared war against Me, and I am the quickest of all things to support My friends. I have never hesitated about anything I am go

مَنِ اسْتَذَلَّ مُؤْمِناً وَ اسْتَحْقَرَهُ لِقِلَّةِ ذَاتِ يَدِهِ وَ لِفَقْرِهِ شَهَرَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رُءُوسِ الْخَلَائِقِ‌[2].

“Whoever looks down upon a believer or belittles him because of his small resources or poverty, on the Day of Judgment Allah will make (his disgrace) public to all creatures.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ لَقَدْ أَسْرَى رَبِّي بِي فَأَوْحَى إِلَيَّ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الْحِجَابِ‌[3] مَا أَوْحَى وَ شَافَهَنِي إِلَى أَنْ قَالَ لِي يَا مُحَمَّدُ مَنْ أَذَلَّ لِي وَلِيّاً فَقَدْ أَرْصَدَنِي بِالْمُحَارَبَةِ وَ مَنْ حَارَبَنِي حَارَبْتُهُ قُلْتُ يَا رَبِّ وَ مَنْ وَلِيُّكَ هَذَا فَقَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّ مَنْ حَارَبَكَ حَارَبْتَهُ قَالَ لِي ذَاكَ مَنْ أَخَذْتُ مِيثَاقَهُ لَكَ وَ لِوَصِيِّكَ وَ لِذُرِّيَّتِكُم

“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘My Lord took me for a journey and revealed to me from behind the curtain whatever He wanted to reveal, and spoke to me vocally and said to me, “O Muhammad, whoever insults any of My friends has waged a war against Me. Whoever fights Me, I fight him.” I then said, ‘O Lord, who is this

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ مَنِ اسْتَذَلَّ عَبْدِيَ الْمُؤْمِنَ فَقَدْ بَارَزَنِي بِالْمُحَارَبَةِ وَ مَا تَرَدَّدْتُ فِي شَيْ‌ءٍ أَنَا فَاعِلُهُ كَتَرَدُّدِي فِي عَبْدِيَ الْمُؤْمِنِ إِنِّي أُحِبُّ لِقَاءَهُ فَيَكْرَهُ الْمَوْتَ فَأَصْرِفُهُ عَنْهُ- وَ إِنَّهُ لَيَدْعُونِي فِي الْأَمْرِ فَأَسْتَجِيبُ لَهُ بِمَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَهُ‌[1].

“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, has said, “Whoever humiliates My believing servant has asked Me for a fight. I have not hesitated as much as I did at the time of the death of My believing servant. I love to meet him and he dislikes death. I then divert it from him. He prays t

قَالا أَقْرَبُ مَا يَكُونُ الْعَبْدُ إِلَى الْكُفْرِ أَنْ يُوَاخِيَ الرَّجُلَ عَلَى الدِّينِ فَيُحْصِيَ عَلَيْهِ عَثَرَاتِهِ وَ زَلَّاتِهِ لِيُعَنِّفَهُ بِهَا يَوْماً مَا[2]

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ يَا مَعْشَرَ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ بِلِسَانِهِ وَ لَمْ يَخْلُصِ الْإِيمَانُ إِلَى قَلْبِهِ لَا تَذُمُّوا الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَ لَا تَتَبَّعُوا عَوْرَاتِهِمْ‌[3] فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ تَتَبَّعَ عَوْرَاتِهِمْ تَتَبَّعَ اللَّهُ عَوْرَتَهُ وَ مَنْ تَتَبَّعَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَوْرَتَهُ يَفْضَحْهُ وَ لَوْ فِي بَيْتِهِ. - عَنْهُ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ عَنْ أَبِي الْجَارُ

“I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) saying, ‘The Messenger of Allah has said, “O group of people who have accepted Islam with their tongue and belief has not yet purely and freely entered into their hearts, do not criticize the Muslims and do not seek to search into their privacies to find faults in them; Allah will then do

إِنَّ أَقْرَبَ مَا يَكُونُ الْعَبْدُ إِلَى الْكُفْرِ أَنْ يُوَاخِيَ الرَّجُلُ الرَّجُلَ عَلَى الدِّينِ‌[1] فَيُحْصِيَ عَلَيْهِ عَثَرَاتِهِ وَ زَلَّاتِهِ لِيُعَنِّفَهُ بِهَا يَوْماً مَا.

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said, ‘A servant (of Allah) is closest to disbelief when he assumes brotherhood (in belief) with a man and then begins to count his mistakes and slips so he can one day use them against him.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ يَا مَعْشَرَ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ بِلِسَانِهِ وَ لَمْ يُسْلِمْ بِقَلْبِهِ لَا تَتَبَّعُوا عَثَرَاتِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ تَتَبَّعَ عَثَرَاتِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ تَتَبَّعَ اللَّهُ عَثْرَتَهُ وَ مَنْ تَتَبَّعَ اللَّهُ عَثْرَتَهُ يَفْضَحْهُ‌[2].

“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘O group of people who have accepted Islam with their tongue and not yet with their heart, do not seek to search into the privacies of the Muslims to find faults in them; Allah will then do the same to them and to whomever Allah will do such a thing. He will bring disgrace upon him.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ لَا تَطْلُبُوا عَثَرَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَإِنَّ مَنْ تَتَبَّعَ عَثَرَاتِ أَخِيهِ تَتَبَّعَ اللَّهُ عَثَرَاتِهِ وَ مَنْ تَتَبَّعَ اللَّهُ عَثَرَاتِهِ يَفْضَحْهُ وَ لَوْ فِي جَوْفِ بَيْتِهِ.

“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Do not seek to find faults with the believers; if one seeks to find fault with his brother (in belief), Allah will find faults with him and whoever’s fault Allah will seek to find. He will bring disgrace upon him and it may take place even inside his very own home.’”

أَقْرَبُ مَا يَكُونُ الْعَبْدُ إِلَى الْكُفْرِ أَنْ يُوَاخِيَ الرَّجُلُ الرَّجُلَ عَلَى الدِّينِ فَيُحْصِيَ عَلَيْهِ زَلَّاتِهِ لِيُعَيِّرَهُ بِهَا يَوْماً مَا[3].
