قَالَ جَبْرَئِيلُ ع لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص طُوبَى لِمَنْ قَالَ مِنْ أُمَّتِكَ- لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ وَحْدَهُ وَحْدَهُ[2].
“Jibril once said to the Messenger of Allah, ‘ Tuba (a tree in paradise) is for those among your followers who (sincerely) say: ‘No one deserves to be worshipped except Allah, Allah alone, Allah alone, Allah alone.’”
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَنْ صَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ فَقَالَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْفُضَ[1] رُكْبَتَيْهِ عَشْرَ مَرَّاتٍ لا إِلهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَ لَهُ الْحَمْدُ يُحْيِي وَ يُمِيتُ* وَ يُمِيتُ وَ يُحْيِي وَ هُوَ حَيٌّ لَا يَمُوتُ بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ وَ هُوَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ* وَ فِي الْمَغْرِبِ مِثْلَهَا لَمْ يَلْقَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ عَبْدٌ بِعَمَلٍ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ عَمَلِ
“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Whoever soon after performing the morning prayer and before raising his knees says ten times, ‘No one deserves to be worshipped except Allah alone, Who has no partner, the Kingdom is His, all praise belongs to Him, He gives life, causes death, causes death and gives life, He is living

تَقُولُ إِذَا أَصْبَحْتَ- أَصْبَحْتُ بِاللَّهِ مُؤْمِناً عَلَى دِينِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ سُنَّتِهِ وَ دِينِ عَلِيٍّ وَ سُنَّتِهِ وَ دِينِ الْأَوْصِيَاءِ وَ سُنَّتِهِمْ آمَنْتُ بِسِرِّهِمْ وَ عَلَانِيَتِهِمْ وَ شَاهِدِهِمْ وَ غَائِبِهِمْ وَ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِمَّا اسْتَعَاذَ مِنْهُ- رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص وَ عَلِيٌّ ع وَ الْأَوْصِيَاءُ وَ أَرْغَبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ فِيمَا رَغِبُوا إِلَيْهِ وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللّ

ثَلَاثٌ تَنَاسَخَهَا الْأَنْبِيَاءُ[1] مِنْ آدَمَ ع حَتَّى وَصَلْنَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص كَانَ إِذَا أَصْبَحَ يَقُولُ- اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ إِيمَاناً تُبَاشِرُ بِهِ قَلْبِي وَ يَقِيناً[2] حَتَّى أَعْلَمَ أَنَّهُ لَا يُصِيبُنِي إِلَّا مَا كَتَبْتَ لِي وَ رَضِّنِي بِمَا قَسَمْتَ لِي. - وَ رَوَاهُ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِنَا وَ زَادَ فِيهِ حَتَّى لَا أُحِبَّ تَعْجِيلَ مَا أَخَّرْتَ وَ لَا تَأْخِيرَ مَا عَجَّلْتَ يَا

أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ- اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي وَ هَذَا النَّهَارَ خَلْقَانِ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَا تَبْتَلِنِي بِهِ وَ لَا تَبْتَلِهِ بِي اللَّهُمَّ وَ لَا تُرِهِ مِنِّي جُرْأَةً عَلَى مَعَاصِيكَ وَ لَا رُكُوباً لِمَحَارِمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ اصْرِفْ عَنِّيَ الْأَزْلَ وَ اللَّأْوَاءَ وَ الْبَلْوَى وَ سُوءَ الْقَضَاءِ وَ شَمَاتَةَ الْأَعْدَاءِ وَ مَنْظَرَ السَّوْءِ فِي نَفْسِي وَ مَالِي[1] قَالَ وَ مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يَقُولُ

كَانَ أَبِي ع يَقُولُ إِذَا أَصْبَحَ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَ بِاللَّهِ وَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَ عَلَى مِلَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص اللَّهُمَّ إِلَيْكَ أَسْلَمْتُ نَفْسِي وَ إِلَيْكَ فَوَّضْتُ أَمْرِي وَ عَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ اللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْنِي حِفْظِ الْإِيمَانِ[2] مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيَّ وَ مِنْ خَلْفِي وَ عَنْ يَمِينِي وَ عَنْ شِمَالِي وَ مِنْ فَوْقِي وَ مِنْ تَحْتِي وَ مِنْ قِبَلِي
“My father (a.s.) in the morning would say, ‘(I begin) in the name of Allah, with Allah, and to Allah, for the cause of Allah and on the religion of the Messenger of Allah, O Lord, to You I have submitted my soul, to You I have left my affairs, before You I have placed my trust, O Lord of the worlds. O Lord, protect me
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع أَ لَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص يَقُولُ إِذَا أَوَى إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ قُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ آيَةَ الْكُرْسِيِّ وَ يَقُولُ- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ آمَنْتُ بِاللَّهِ وَ كَفَرْتُ بِالطَّاغُوتِ اللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْنِي فِي مَنَامِي وَ فِي يَقَظَتِي.
“Once Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) said, ‘Should I tell you about what the Messenger of Allah would say when going to his bed?’ I said, ‘Yes, please do so.’ The Imam said, ‘He would read verse 255 of Chapter two and say, “(I begin) in the name of Allah, I believe in Allah, and reject the devil. قَالَ لِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ لَا تَبِيتَ لَيْلَةً حَتَّى تَعَوَّذَ بِأَحَدَ عَشَرَ حَرْفاً قُلْتُ أَخْبِرْنِي بِهَا قَالَ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِقُدْرَةِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِجَلَالِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِسُلْطَانِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِجَمَالِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِدَفْعِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِمَنْعِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِجَمْعِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِمُلْكِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذ

إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَلْيَقُلْ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّ النَّبِيِّينَ وَ إِلَهِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ وَ رَبِّ الْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ[1] وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي يُحْيِ الْمَوْتى وَ هُوَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ صَدَقَ عَبْدِي وَ شَكَرَ.

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ص مَنْ أَرَادَ شَيْئاً مِنْ قِيَامِ اللَّيْلِ وَ أَخَذَ مَضْجَعَهُ فَلْيَقُلْ- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ اللَّهُمَّ لَا تُؤْمِنِّي مَكْرَكَ وَ لَا تُنْسِنِي ذِكْرَكَ وَ لَا تَجْعَلْنِي مِنَ الْغَافِلِينَ أَقُومُ سَاعَةَ كَذَا وَ كَذَا إِلَّا وَكَّلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ بِهِ مَلَكاً يُنَبِّهُهُ تِلْكَ السَّاعَةَ.
“The Holy Prophet has said, ‘Whoever likes to wake up at night, at the time of going to sleep should say, “(In the name of Allah) O Lord, do not allow me to ignore Your anger, do not allow me to forget speaking of You, do not make me of the careless ones, so I will wake up at such and such hour,” Allah, the Most Majest
تَقُولُ قَبْلَ دُخُولِكَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ- اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُقَدِّمُ- مُحَمَّداً نَبِيَّكَ ص بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَاجَتِي وَ أَتَوَجَّهُ بِهِ إِلَيْكَ فِي طَلِبَتِي فَاجْعَلْنِي بِهِمْ وَجِيهاً فِي الدُّنْيا وَ الْآخِرَةِ وَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ صَلَاتِي بِهِمْ مُتَقَبَّلَةً وَ ذَنْبِي بِهِمْ مَغْفُوراً وَ دُعَائِي بِهِمْ مُسْتَجَاباً يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.
“Say before beginning the prayer, ‘O Lord, I give the lead to Muhammad Your Prophet for the help I need and turn to You through him for my request, grant me respect through him (and his Ahl al-Bayt) in this world and in the next and to be of the people close (to You), O Lord, deem my prayer through them acceptable, my
كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ابْنُ الرِّضَا ع بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ وَ عَلَّمَنِيهِ[3] وَ قَالَ مَنْ قَالَ فِي دُبُرِ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ لَمْ يَلْتَمِسْ حَاجَةً إِلَّا تَيَسَّرَتْ لَهُ وَ كَفَاهُ اللَّهُ مَا أَهَمَّهُ- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَ بِاللَّهِ وَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ أُفَوِّضُ أَمْرِي إِلَى اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بَصِيرٌ بِالْعِبادِ فَوَقاهُ اللَّهُ سَيِّئاتِ ما مَكَرُوا لا إِلهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ
6. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from certain individuals of his people from Muhammad ibn al-Faraj who has said the following: “Once abu Ja’far ibn al-Rida (a.s.) wrote to me and instructed me with this supplication saying, ‘Whoever recites it after the morning prayer, his wish will come true
أَبْطَأَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ص عَنْهُ ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَا أَبْطَأَ بِكَ عَنَّا فَقَالَ السُّقْمُ وَ الْفَقْرُ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَ فَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ دُعَاءً يَذْهَبُ اللَّهُ عَنْكَ بِالسُّقْمِ وَ الْفَقْرِ قَالَ بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ قُلْ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى الْحَيِّ الَّذِي لا يَمُوتُ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّه
“Once one of the companions of the Holy Prophet delayed and when he came, the Messenger of Allah asked, ‘What caused you to delay?’ He replied, ‘Illness and poverty.’ He then said, ‘Should I teach you a supplication with which Allah will remove illness and poverty from you?’ He said, ‘Yes, O the Messenger of Allah, ple
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ص فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي ذُو عِيَالٍ وَ عَلَيَّ دَيْنٌ وَ قَدِ اشْتَدَّتْ حَالِي فَعَلِّمْنِي دُعَاءً أَدْعُو اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ بِهِ لِيَرْزُقَنِي مَا أَقْضِي بِهِ دَيْنِي وَ أَسْتَعِينُ بِهِ عَلَى عِيَالِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ تَوَضَّأْ وَ أَسْبِغْ وُضُوءَكَ ثُمَّ صَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ تُتِمُّ الرُّكُوعَ وَ السُّجُودَ ثُمَّ قُلْ يَا مَاجِدُ يَا وَاح

سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ نَظَرَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع إِلَى رَجُلٍ وَ هُوَ يَقُولُ- اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ رِزْقِكَ الْحَلَالِ فَقَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع سَأَلْتَ قُوتَ النَّبِيِّينَ قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ رِزْقاً حَلَالًا وَاسِعاً طَيِّباً مِنْ رِزْقِكَ.
“I heard abu al-Hassan (a.s.) saying, ‘Once abu Ja’far (a.s.) looked upon a man who was saying, “O Lord, I plead before You for lawful sustenance.” Abu Ja’far (a.s.) said to him, ‘You are asking the sustenance of the prophets, say, “O Lord, I plead before You for lawful sustenance from You that is vast and pure.’”
أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ص رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ الْغَالِبُ عَلَيَّ الدَّيْنُ وَ وَسْوَسَةُ الصَّدْرِ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ص قُلْ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى الْحَيِّ الَّذِي لا يَمُوتُ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ صَاحِبَةً وَ لَا وَلَداً وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ شَرِيكٌ فِي الْمُلْكِ وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلِيٌّ مِنَ الذُّلِّ وَ كَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيراً قَالَ فَصَبَرَ الرَّجُلُ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ ثُمَّ مَرَّ ع

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ص فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ لَقِيتُ شِدَّةً مِنْ وَسْوَسَةِ الصَّدْرِ وَ أَنَا رَجُلٌ مَدِينٌ مُعِيلٌ مُحْوِجٌ[1] فَقَالَ لَهُ كَرِّرْ هَذِهِ الْكَلِمَاتِ- تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى الْحَيِّ الَّذِي لا يَمُوتُ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ صَاحِبَةً وَ لَا وَلَداً وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ شَرِيكٌ فِي الْمُلْكِ وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلِيٌّ مِنَ الذُّلِّ وَ كَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيراً ف

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَنْ أَصَابَهُ هَمٌّ أَوْ غَمٌّ أَوْ كَرْبٌ أَوْ بَلَاءٌ أَوْ لَاوَاءٌ-[1] فَلْيَقُلِ اللَّهُ رَبِّي وَ لَا أُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئاً تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى الْحَيِّ الَّذِي لا يَمُوتُ.
“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Whoever suffers from sorrow, pain, misfortune or poverty should say, “Allah is My Lord and I do not associate any partner with Him, I place my trust in the Living One who does not die.’”
كَانَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ع يَقُولُ مَا أُبَالِي إِذَا قُلْتُ هَذِهِ الْكَلِمَاتِ لَوِ اجْتَمَعَ عَلَيَّ الْإِنْسُ وَ الْجِنُّ- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَ بِاللَّهِ وَ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَ عَلَى مِلَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص اللَّهُمَّ إِلَيْكَ أَسْلَمْتُ نَفْسِي وَ إِلَيْكَ وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِي وَ إِلَيْكَ أَلْجَأْتُ ظَهْرِي وَ إِلَيْكَ فَوَّضْتُ أَمْرِي اللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْنِي بِحِفْظِ الْإِي
“Ali ibn al-Husayn (a.s.) would say, ‘Even if all human beings and Jinns will gather together against me I will not be concerned at all after saying these words: “In the name of Allah, with Allah, from Allah, to Allah, in the way of Allah, and upon the religion of the Messenger of Allah, O Lord, to You I have submitted
قَالَ لِي أَ لَا أُعَلِّمُكَ دُعَاءً تَدْعُو بِهِ إِنَّا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ إِذَا كَرَبَنَا أَمْرٌ وَ تَخَوَّفْنَا مِنَ السُّلْطَانِ أَمْراً لَا قِبَلَ لَنَا بِهِ نَدْعُو بِهِ قُلْتُ بَلَى بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَ أُمِّي يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قُلْ- يَا كَائِناً قَبْلَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَ يَا مُكَوِّنَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَ يَا بَاقِي بَعْدَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ افْعَلْ بِي كَذَا وَ كَذَا.
“The Imam said to me, ‘Should I instinct you with a supplication so you can pray? We are a family that whenever something causes us pain or fear a ruler for something we cannot cope with, we pray to Allah with this supplication.’ I said, ‘Yes, may Allah keep my soul and the souls of my parents in service for your cause
كَانَ دُعَاءُ النَّبِيِّ ص لَيْلَةَ الْأَحْزَابِ- يَا صَرِيخَ الْمَكْرُوبِينَ وَ يَا مُجِيبَ دَعْوَةِ الْمُضْطَرِّينَ وَ يَا كَاشِفَ غَمِّيَ اكْشِفْ عَنِّي غَمِّي وَ هَمِّي وَ كَرْبِي فَإِنَّكَ تَعْلَمُ حَالِي وَ حَالَ أَصْحَابِي وَ اكْفِنِي هَوْلَ عَدُوِّي.
“In the night of the attack of the confederate army against the Muslims this was the supplication of the Holy Prophet: ‘O the One to whom people in distress cry for help, O the One who answers the plea for help of the helpless people, O the One who removes my concern and anxiety, remove from me my anxiety, concern and
قَالَ لِي أَبُو الْحَسَنِ ع إِذَا كَانَ لَكَ يَا سَمَاعَةُ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ حَاجَةٌ فَقُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلِيٍّ فَإِنَّ لَهُمَا عِنْدَكَ شَأْناً مِنَ الشَّأْنِ وَ قَدْراً مِنَ الْقَدْرِ فَبِحَقِّ ذَلِكَ الشَّأْنِ وَ بِحَقِّ ذَلِكَ الْقَدْرِ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَنْ تَفْعَلَ بِي كَذَا وَ كَذَا فَإِنَّهُ إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ لَم
“Abu al-Hassan (as) said to me: 'O Sama’a, whenever you have a request before Allah, the Most Majestic and Most Holy, say this: ‘O Allah, I ask you by the right of Muhammad and Ali, for they have a special status and a high rank with You, and a decree from Your decree. So by the right of that status and by the right of

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع فَشَكَوْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَجَعاً بِي فَقَالَ قُلْ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ امْسَحْ يَدَكَ عَلَيْهِ وَ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِقُدْرَةِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِجَلَالِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَةِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِجَمْعِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِأَسْمَاءِ اللَّهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَحْذَرُ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَى نَفْسِي تَقُولُهَا سَبْعَ
“Once I went in the presence of Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) and complained to him from a pain that I suffered. The Imam instructed me to say, ‘In the name of Allah, wipe your hand on the painful area and say, “I seek protection through the power of Allah, I seek protection through the glory of Allah, I seek protection through
أَمِرَّ يَدَكَ عَلَى مَوْضِعِ الْوَجَعِ ثُمَّ قُلْ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَ بِاللَّهِ وَ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ اللَّهُمَّ امْسَحْ عَنِّي مَا أَجِدُ ثُمَّ تُمِرُّ يَدَكَ الْيُمْنَى وَ تَمْسَحُ مَوْضِعَ الْوَجَعِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ.
‘In the name of Allah, with (the help of) Allah, and through Muhammad the Messenger of Allah, there are no means and no power without Allah, the Most High, the Most Great, O Lord, remove and wipe away from me that which I feel,’ then wipe the painful area with your right hand three times.’”
تَضَعُ يَدَكَ عَلَى مَوْضِعِ الْوَجَعِ ثُمَّ تَقُولُ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَ بِاللَّهِ وَ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ اللَّهُمَّ امْسَحْ عَنِّي مَا أَجِدُ وَ تَمْسَحُ الْوَجَعَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ.
“Place your hand over the painful area then say, ‘In the name of Allah, with (the help of) Allah, and through Muhammad the Messenger of Allah, there are no means and no power without Allah, O Lord, wipe away from me that which I feel,’ and wipe the area three times.”
إِذَا اشْتَكَى الْإِنْسَانُ فَلْيَقُلْ- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَ بِاللَّهِ وَ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِقُدْرَةِ اللَّهِ عَلَى مَا يَشَاءُ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ.
‘In the name of Allah, with (the help of) Allah, and through Muhammad the Messenger of Allah, I seek protection with the majesty of Allah and I seek protection with the power of Allah over everything that He wills, against what I feel.’”
شَكَوْتُ إِلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع وَجَعاً بِي فَقَالَ إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ فَضَعْ يَدَكَ مَوْضِعَ سُجُودِكَ ثُمَّ قُلْ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص اشْفِنِي يَا شَافِي لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سُقْماً شِفَاءً مِنْ كُلِّ دَاءٍ وَ سُقْمٍ.
“After prayer place your hand on the area for your prostration and say, ‘In the name of Allah, Muhammad the Messenger of Allah, cure me O Healer; there is no cure except Your cure that leaves no ailment without being removed, the cure for all pain and ailments.’”
مَرِضَ عَلِيٌّ ص فَأَتَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص فَقَالَ لَهُ قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ تَعْجِيلَ عَافِيَتِكَ وَ صَبْراً عَلَى بَلِيَّتِكَ وَ خُرُوجاً إِلَى رَحْمَتِكَ.
“Once, Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.) became ill. The Messenger of Allah visited him and said, ‘Say, O Lord, I plead before You for a quick recovery, (the ability to have) patience with misfortune from You and coming out of it into Your favors and mercy.”
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ص كَانَ يُنَشِّرُ بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ[2] تَضَعُ يَدَكَ عَلَى مَوْضِعِ الْوَجَعِ وَ تَقُولُ أَيُّهَا الْوَجَعُ اسْكُنْ بِسَكِينَةِ اللَّهِ وَ قِرْ بِوَقَارِ اللَّهِ وَ انْحَجِزْ بِحَاجِزِ اللَّهِ وَ اهْدَأْ بِهَدْءِ اللَّهِ[1] أُعِيذُكَ أَيُّهَا الْإِنْسَانُ بِمَا أَعَاذَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ بِهِ عَرْشَهُ وَ مَلَائِكَتَهُ- يَوْمَ الرَّجْفَةِ وَ الزَّلَازِلِ[2] تَقُولُ ذَلِكَ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ وَ لَ

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Harun ibn Muslim from Mas’adah ibn Sadaqa from abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) who has said the following: “The Holy Prophet would seek cure with this supplication. He would place his hand over the painful area and say, ‘O pain, calm down by the serenity of Allah, silence by
قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع رَقَى النَّبِيُّ ص حَسَناً وَ حُسَيْناً فَقَالَ أُعِيذُكُمَا بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ وَ أَسْمَائِهِ الْحُسْنَى كُلِّهَا عَامَّةً مِنْ شَرِّ السَّامَّةِ وَ الْهَامَّةِ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ[2] وَ مِنْ شَرِّ حاسِدٍ إِذا حَسَدَ ثُمَّ الْتَفَتَ النَّبِيُّ ص إِلَيْنَا فَقَالَ هَكَذَا كَانَ يُعَوِّذُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ- إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَ إِسْحَاقَ ع.
“Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.) has said, ‘The Holy Prophet read the following for the protection of al-Hassan and al-Husayn, recipients of divine supreme covenant, ‘I seek protection for both of you with the perfect words of Allah, with all of His beautiful, universal names against the evil of the poisonou
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص فِي بَعْضِ مَغَازِيهِ إِذَا شَكَوْا إِلَيْهِ الْبَرَاغِيثَ أَنَّهَا تُؤْذِيهِمْ فَقَالَ إِذَا أَخَذَ أَحَدُكُمْ مَضْجَعَهُ فَلْيَقُلْ أَيُّهَا الْأَسْوَدُ الْوَثَّابُ الَّذِي لَا يُبَالِي غَلَقاً وَ لَا بَاباً عَزَمْتُ عَلَيْكَ بِأُمِّ الْكِتَابِ[1] أَلَّا تُؤْذِيَنِي وَ أَصْحَابِي إِلَى أَنْ يَذْهَبَ اللَّيْلُ وَ يَجِيءَ الصُّبْحُ بِمَا جَاءَ وَ الَّذِي نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَى أَنْ يَئُوبَ الصُّبْ
“During certain expeditions people complained before the Messenger of Allah against fleas that irritated them. He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘When going into your bed say, “O black jumping thing that does not stop by the barrier or door I ask you by the original Book, do not irritate me and my companions until the
يَسْأَلُهُ عُوذَةً لِلرِّيَاحِ الَّتِي تَعْرِضُ لِلصِّبْيَانِ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ بِخَطِّهِ بِهَاتَيْنِ الْعُوذَتَيْنِ وَ زَعَمَ صَالِحٌ أَنَّهُ أَنْفَذَهُمَا إِلَيَّ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بِخَطِّهِ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً رَسُولُ اللَّهِ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ لا إِلهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَ لَا رَبَّ لِي إِلَّا اللَّهُ لَهُ ال

قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع إِذَا لَقِيتَ السَّبُعَ فَاقْرَأْ فِي وَجْهِهِ آيَةَ الْكُرْسِيِّ وَ قُلْ لَهُ عَزَمْتُ عَلَيْكَ بِعَزِيمَةِ اللَّهِ وَ عَزِيمَةِ مُحَمَّدٍ ص وَ عَزِيمَةِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ ع وَ عَزِيمَةِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ع وَ الْأَئِمَّةِ الطَّاهِرِينَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ فَإِنَّهُ يَنْصَرِفُ عَنْكَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ قَالَ فَخَرَجْتُ فَإِذَا السَّبُعُ قَدِ اعْتَرَضَ فَ
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Whenever you may come face to face with a wild beast, read verse 255 of Chapter 2 of the Holy Quran to its face and say, “I swear you by the oath of Allah, the oath of Muhammad (a.s.) the oath of Solomon son of David, the oath of Amir al-Mu’Mini, Ali ibn abu Talib and A ’immah, the cle
سَمِعْتُ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع يَقُولُ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص يَا عَلِيُّ أَ لَا أُعَلِّمُكَ كَلِمَاتٍ إِذَا وَقَعْتَ فِي وَرْطَةٍ[4] أَوْ بَلِيَّةٍ فَقُلْ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ* وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يَصْرِفُ بِهَا عَنْكَ مَا يَشَاءُ مِنْ أَنْوَاعِ الْبَلَاءِ.
“I heard Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.) saying, ‘The Messenger of Allah once said to me, “O Ali I should instruct you with the words that you should say in a troublesome condition or a misfortune: ‘(I begin) in the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. كَانَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَدْعُو عِنْدَ قِرَاءَةِ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ- اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ الْمُتَوَحِّدُ بِالْقُدْرَةِ وَ السُّلْطَانِ الْمَتِينِ وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ الْمُتَعَالِي بِالْعِزِّ وَ الْكِبْرِيَاءِ وَ فَوْقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ[6] رَبَّنَا وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ الْمُكْتَفِي بِعِلْمِكَ- وَ الْمُحْتَاجُ إِلَيْكَ كُلُّ ذِي عِلْمٍ رَبَّنَا وَ لَك
1. He [mursal = trasmitter] said: “Abū ‘Abdillāh (‘a.s.) used to supplicate thus when reading the Book of Allāh, to Whom belong Might and Majesty: ‘O Allāh! Our Lord! All praise is due to You – You are the Only One with power and firm authority. And all praise is due to You – You are the Exalted with might and grandeur
تَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ وَ لَمْ يَسْأَلِ الْعِبَادُ مِثْلَكَ أَسْأَلُكَ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيِّكَ وَ رَسُولِكَ وَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلِكَ وَ صَفِيِّكَ وَ مُوسَى كَلِيمِكَ وَ نَجِيِّكَ وَ عِيسَى كَلِمَتِكَ وَ رُوحِكَ وَ أَسْأَلُكَ بِصُحُفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَ تَوْرَاةِ مُوسَى وَ زَبُورِ دَاوُدَ وَ إِنْجِيلِ عِيسَى وَ قُرْآنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ص وَ بِكُلِّ وَحْيٍ أَوْحَيْتَهُ وَ قَضَاءٍ أَمْضَيْتَهُ وَ حَقٍّ قَضَيْتَ

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع أَ لَا تَخُصُّنِي بِدُعَاءٍ قَالَ بَلَى قَالَ قُلْ- يَا وَاحِدُ يَا مَاجِدُ يَا أَحَدُ يَا صَمَدُ يَا مَنْ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَ لَمْ يُولَدْ وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُواً أَحَدٌ يَا عَزِيزُ يَا كَرِيمُ يَا حَنَّانُ يَا مَنَّانُ يَا سَامِعَ الدَّعَوَاتِ يَا أَجْوَدَ مَنْ سُئِلَ وَ يَا خَيْرَ مَنْ أَعْطَى يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ قُلْتُ وَ لَقَدْ نادانا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ الْمُجِيبُون

يَا سَعْدُ تَعَلَّمُوا الْقُرْآنَ فَإِنَّ الْقُرْآنَ يَأْتِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فِي أَحْسَنِ صُورَةٍ نَظَرَ إِلَيْهَا الْخَلْقُ وَ النَّاسُ صُفُوفٌ عِشْرُونَ وَ مِائَةُ أَلْفِ صَفٍّ ثَمَانُونَ أَلْفَ صَفٍّ أُمَّةُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَرْبَعُونَ أَلْفَ صَفٍّ مِنْ سَائِرِ الْأُمَمِ فَيَأْتِي عَلَى صَفِّ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فِي صُورَةِ رَجُلٍ فَيُسَلِّمُ فَيَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُونَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْحَلِيمُ
