كَتَبْتُ إِلَى أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ع أَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْبُخْتِ[2] وَ أَلْبَانِهِنَّ فَقَالَ لَا بَأْسَ بِهِ.
“I once wrote to abu al-Hassan (a.s.), and ask about the meat of camels of Khurasan and their milk. He (the Imam) said, ’It is not unlawful.”’
قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ إِنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ أَبِي الْخَطَّابِ نَهَى عَنْ أَكْلِ الْبُخْتِ وَ عَنْ أَكْلِ لُحُومِ الْحَمَامِ الْمُسَرْوَلَةِ فَقَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع لَا بَأْسَ بِرُكُوبِ الْبُخْتِ وَ شُرْبِ أَلْبَانِهِنَّ وَ أَكْلِ لُحُومِ الْحَمَامِ الْمُسَرْوَلِ.
“I once said to abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, a man from the companions of abu al-Khattab prohibited eating the meat of camels of Khurasan and the meat of al-Musarwal (pigeons that have feathers on their legs). He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful to ride camel o
قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع الْإِوَزُّ جَامُوسُ الطَّيْرِ وَ الدَّجَاجُ خِنْزِيرُ الطَّيْرِ وَ الدُّرَّاجُ حَبَشُ الطَّيْرِ وَ أَيْنَ أَنْتَ عَنْ فَرْخَيْنِ نَاهِضَيْنِ رَبَّتْهُمَا امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ رَبِيعَةَ بِفَضْلِ قُوتِهَا[1].
“’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ’Duck is the buffalo of birds, a hen is like the pig in birds and black partridge is the turkey in birds. You should not miss the two fledgling that were brought up by the woman of Rabi’ah with the leftover of her sustenance/”
إِنَّهُ ذُكِرَتِ اللُّحْمَانُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ عُمَرَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ إِنَّ أَطْيَبَ اللُّحْمَانِ لَحْمُ الدَّجَاجِ فَقَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع كَلَّا إِنَّ ذَلِكَ خَنَازِيرُ الطَّيْرِ وَ إِنَّ أَطْيَبَ اللُّحْمَانِ لَحْمُ فَرْخٍ قَدْ نَهَضَ أَوْ كَادَ أَنْ يَنْهَضَ.
“Two kinds of meat were mentioned before ‘Umar and ’Umar said, ‘The better of the two kinds of meat is the meat of hen. ’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.), said, ‘No, it is like pigs in birds and the better of the two kinds of meat is the meat of the chick that has just risen or is about to rise.”’
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَقِلَّ غَيْظُهُ فَلْيَأْكُلْ لَحْمَ الدُّرَّاجِ[2].
‘If reducing one’s anger makes him happy he should eat partridge meat.’”
أَطْعِمُوا الْمَحْمُومَ لَحْمَ الْقِبَاجِ[3] فَإِنَّهُ يُقَوِّي السَّاقَيْنِ وَ يَطْرُدُ الْحُمَّى طَرْداً.
“Abu al-Hassan, al-Awwal (a.s.), has said, ‘Feed one who is suffering from fever with the meat of al-Qabaj (a kind of partridge) because it strengthens the legs and dispels fever completely.’”
تَغَدَّيْتُ مَعَ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع فَأُتِيَ بِقَطَاةٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ مُبَارَكٌ وَ كَانَ أَبِي ع يُعْجِبُهُ وَ كَانَ يَأْمُرُ أَنْ يُطْعَمَ صَاحِبَ الْيَرَقَانِ يُشْوَى لَهُ فَإِنَّهُ يَنْفَعُهُ.
“I once had lunch with abu Ja’far (a.s.), and sand grouse was brought. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is blessed; my father liked it and would instruct to feed roasted to one who suffers from jaundice; it benefits him.’”
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ الْأَوَّلَ ع يَقُولُ لَا أَرَى بِأَكْلِ الْحُبَارَى بَأْساً وَ إِنَّهُ جَيِّدٌ لِلْبَوَاسِيرِ وَ وَجَعِ الظَّهْرِ وَ هُوَ مِمَّا يُعِينُ عَلَى كَثْرَةِ الْجِمَاعِ.
“I once heard abu al-Hassan (a.s.), saying, ‘It is not unlawful to eat the meat of al- Habara ’ (bustard). It is good for hemorrhoids and back-pain and it helps increase the ability to go to bed with one’s wife.’”
كَتَبْتُ إِلَى أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ع أَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ لُحُومِ حُمُرِ الْوَحْشِ فَكَتَبَ ع يَجُوزُ أَكْلُهُ لِوَحْشَتِهِ وَ تَرْكُهُ عِنْدِي أَفْضَلُ[1].
‘It is not unlawful because of its being wild but not to eat is better to me.”’
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ع يَقُولُ لَا بَأْسَ بِأَكْلِ لُحُومِ الْجَوَامِيسِ وَ شُرْبِ أَلْبَانِهَا وَ أَكْلِ سُمُونِهَا.
‘It is not unlawful to eat buffalo meat and the use of its milk and ghee for food.’”
سَأَلْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ع عَنْ لُحُومِ الْجَوَامِيسِ وَ أَلْبَانِهَا فَقَالَ لَا بَأْسَ بِهِمَا.
‘It is not unlawful to use such items for food.’”
إِنَّمَا تَأْكُلُهُ السِّبَاعُ- وَ لَكِنْ حَتَّى تُغَيِّرَهُ الشَّمْسُ أَوِ النَّارُ[1].
“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, prohibited eating fresh (raw) meat and said that beasts eat fresh meat, thus it must be used for food only after it is changed by sun or fire.’”
سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنْ أَكْلِ لَحْمِ النِّيءِ فَقَالَ هَذَا طَعَامُ السِّبَاعِ.
about eating fresh (raw) meat. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is the food of beasts.”’
قُلْتُ لِأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع إِنَّ أَصْحَابَ الْمُغِيرَةِ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنْ أَكْلِ الْقَدِيدِ الَّتِي لَمْ تَمَسَّهُ النَّارُ فَقَالَ لَا بَأْسَ بِأَكْلِهِ.
“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), that companions of al-Mughirah prohibit eating of meat which is dried up in the sun and fire has not touched it. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful to eat it.’”
قُلْتُ لَهُ إِنَّ اللَّحْمَ يُقَدَّدُ وَ يُذَرُّ عَلَيْهِ الْمِلْحُ وَ يُجَفَّفُ فِي الظِّلِّ فَقَالَ لَا بَأْسَ بِأَكْلِهِ لِأَنَّ الْمِلْحَ قَدْ غَيَّرَهُ[2].
“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), if meat can be dried up by salting and leaving in the shade. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful to eat it because salt has changed it.’”
كَانَ يَقُولُ مَا أَكَلْتُ طَعَاماً أَبْقَى وَ لَا أَهْيَجَ لِلدَّاءِ مِنَ اللَّحْمِ الْيَابِسِ يَعْنِي الْقَدِيدَ.
“Abu al-Hassan, al-Thalith (a.s.), would say, ‘I have not used anything for food more inducing illnesses than dried up meat, that is, al-Qadid.’”
أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ الْقَدِيدُ لَحْمُ سَوْءٍ لِأَنَّهُ يَسْتَرْخِي فِي الْمَعِدَةِ وَ يُهَيِّجُ كُلَّ دَاءٍ وَ لَا يَنْفَعُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ بَلْ يَضُرُّهُ.
‘Al-Qadid (dried up meat) is a bad kind of meat because it softens in the stomach and induces every kind of illness and it does not benefit anything, instead it harms.’”
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع شَيْئَانِ صَالِحَانِ لَمْ يَدْخُلَا جَوْفَ وَاحِدٍ قَطُّ فَاسِداً إِلَّا أَصْلَحَاهُ وَ شَيْئَانِ فَاسِدَانِ لَمْ يَدْخُلَا جَوْفاً قَطُّ صَالِحاً إِلَّا أَفْسَدَاهُ فَالصَّالِحَانِ الرُّمَّانُ وَ الْمَاءُ الْفَاتِرُ وَ الْفَاسِدَانِ الْجُبُنُّ وَ الْقَدِيدُ.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘There are two good things that never enter a bad stomach which they do not repair, and there are two bad things which never enter a good stomach which they do not damage. The two good things are pomegranate and warm water, and the two bad things are cheese and al-Qadid (dried up meat)
ثَلَاثَةٌ يَهْدِمْنَ الْبَدَنَ وَ رُبَّمَا قَتَلْنَ أَكْلُ الْقَدِيدِ الْغَابِ[3] وَ دُخُولُ الْحَمَّامِ عَلَى الْبِطْنَةِ وَ نِكَاحُ الْعَجَائِزِ. - قَالَ وَ زَادَ فِيهِ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ النَّهَاوَنْدِيُ وَ غِشْيَانُ النِّسَاءِ عَلَى الِامْتِلَاءِ.
6. He has said that:Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Three things destroy the body; perhaps kill a person. One is eating of rotten meat, going to the bath with a full stomach and going to bed with old women. He has said that abu Ishaq al-Nahawandiy has added, going to bed with women when one’s stomach is full.’”
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع ثَلَاثٌ لَا يُؤْكَلْنَ وَ هُنَّ يُسْمِنَّ وَ ثَلَاثٌ يُؤْكَلْنَ وَ هُنَّ يَهْزِلْنَ وَ اثْنَانِ يَنْفَعَانِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَ لَا يَضُرَّانِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ وَ اثْنَانِ يَضُرَّانِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَ لَا يَنْفَعَانِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَأَمَّا اللَّوَاتِي لَا يُؤْكَلْنَ وَ يُسْمِنَّ اسْتِشْعَارُ الْكَتَّانِ وَ الطِّيبُ وَ النُّورَةُ وَ أَمَّا اللَّوَاتِي يُؤْكَلْنَ وَ يَهْزِلْنَ فَهُوَ اللّ
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Use of three things forms fat in one’s body, another three things cause weight loss. Two things benefit harmlessly and two things do all kinds of harm without any benefit. The three that can cause fatness are use of linen, perfume and lime. قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع لِمَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص يُحِبُّ الذِّرَاعَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ حُبِّهِ لِسَائِرِ أَعْضَاءِ الشَّاةِ فَقَالَ ع لِأَنَّ آدَمَ ع قَرَّبَ قُرْبَاناً عَنِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِهِ فَسَمَّى لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِهِ عُضْواً عُضْواً وَ سَمَّى لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص الذِّرَاعَ فَمِنْ ثَمَّ كَانَ ص يُحِبُّهَا وَ يَشْتَهِيهَا وَ يُفَضِّلُهَا.
“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ’Why did the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, like shoulder meat more than meat from other parts of a sheep? He (the Imam) said, ‘It is because Adam offered a sacrifice for Prophets of his offspring an
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص يُعْجِبُهُ الذِّرَاعُ.
Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, liked shoulder meat greatly.’”
سَمَّتِ الْيَهُودِيَّةُ النَّبِيَّ ص فِي ذِرَاعٍ وَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ص يُحِبُّ الذِّرَاعَ وَ الْكَتِفَ وَ يَكْرَهُ الْوَرِكَ لِقُرْبِهَا مِنَ الْمَبَالِ.
‘The Jewish woman poisoned the Holy Prophet with shoulder meat and the Holy Prophet, liked it greatly but he disliked meat from the hip area because it is close to the urinating part.’”
اللَّحْمُ بِاللَّبَنِ مَرَقُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ ع.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Meat with milk is the sauce of Prophets, ‘Alayhim al- Salam. ’”
قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع إِذَا ضَعُفَ الْمُسْلِمُ فَلْيَأْكُلِ اللَّحْمَ بِاللَّبَنِ[1].
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘When a Muslim becomes weak, he should eat meat with milk.’”
تَعَشَّيْتُ مَعَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع بِلَحْمٍ بِلَبَنٍ فَقَالَ هَذَا مَرَقُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ ع[2].
“I once had dinner with abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), and it was meat with milk. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is the sauce of the Prophets, ‘Alayhim al-Salam.’”
شَكَا نَبِيٌّ مِنَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ الضَّعْفَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ اطْبُخِ اللَّحْمَ بِاللَّبَنِ فَإِنَّهُمَا يَشُدَّانِ الْجِسْمَ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ هِيَ الْمَضِيرَةُ[3] قَالَ لَا وَ لَكِنِ اللَّحْمُ بِاللَّبَنِ الْحَلِيبِ.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘One of the prophets complained before Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, against weakness and it was said to him, ‘Cook meat with milk; they strengthen the body.’ He (the narrator) has said that I then asked if it is al-Mudayrah (butter milk).’ He (the Imam) said, ‘No, it is meat wi
إِنَّ أَحَبَّ الطَّعَامِ كَانَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص النَّارْبَاجَةُ[4].
‘The most desirable food to the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, was al-Nar Bajah (broth made of pomegranate).”’
أَرْسَلْتُ إِلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع بِقُدَيْرَةٍ فِيهَا نَارْبَاجٌ فَأَكَلَ مِنْهَا وَ قَالَ احْبِسُوا بَقِيَّتَهَا عَلَيَّ فَأُتِيَ بِهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثاً ثُمَّ إِنَّ الْغُلَامَ صَبَّ فِيهَا مَاءً فَأَتَاهُ بِهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ وَيْحَكَ أَفْسَدْتَهَا عَلَيَّ.
“I once sent for abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), a cooking pot with al-Nar Bajah in it (broth made of pomegranate). He (the Imam) ate from it and told to save the rest for him to have it twice or three times. The slave then added water in it and brought it to him. He (the Imam) said, ‘Fie upon you. You have destroyed it.’”
كَانَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع تُعْجِبُهُ الزَّبِيبِيَّةُ.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), liked Zabibiyah (a dish with raisins) quite well.’”
قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع الْأَلْوَانُ يُعَظِّمْنَ الْبَطْنَ وَ يُخَدِّرْنَ الْأَلْيَتَيْنِ[1].
’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.), has said, ‘Eating many kinds of foods at the same time enlarges the belly and numbs the buttocks.’”
أَكَلْتُ عِنْدَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع فَأُتِيَ بِلَوْنٍ فَقَالَ كُلْ مِنْ هَذَا فَأَمَّا أَنَا فَمَا شَيْءٌ أَحَبَّ إِلَيَّ مِنَ الثَّرِيدِ وَ لَوَدِدْتُ أَنَّ الْإِسْفَانَاجَاتِ حُرِّمَتْ[2].
“I once ate food with abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), and the food was of one kind. He (the Imam) said, ‘You can have this food but to me any other food is not as desirable as Tharid. I would have liked if al-Asfanajat was prohibited.’” (Al-Asfananjat is either spinach or something presented before the main course of food, whi
قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ص أَوَّلُ مَنْ لَوَّنَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ ع وَ أَوَّلُ مَنْ هَشَمَ الثَّرِيدَ هَاشِمٌ.
The first one who made food of several kinds was Ibrahim, and the first who made Tharid was Hashim.’”
قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ص اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لِأُمَّتِي فِي الثَّرْدِ وَ الثَّرِيدِ قَالَ جَعْفَرٌ الثَّرْدُ مَا صَغُرَ وَ الثَّرِيدُ مَا كَبُرَ.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘O Lord, bless for my followers al-Thard and al-Tharid.’ Ja‘far has said, that al-Thard is whatever is small and al-Tharid is whatever is large.”
الثَّرِيدُ طَعَامُ الْعَرَبِ.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Tharid is the food of Arabs.’”
قَالَ لِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَلَيْكَ بِالثَّرِيدِ فَإِنِّي لَمْ أَجِدْ شَيْئاً أَوْفَقَ مِنْهُ
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once said to me, ‘You should eat Tharid because I do not find anything more agreeable than Tharid.’”
دَخَلْتُ عَلَى سَيِّدِي أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع وَ هُوَ يَأْكُلُ سِكْبَاجاً بِلَحْمِ الْبَقَرِ[1].
“I once went to visit my master abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), when he (the Imam) was having sikbajah (broth with vinegar) of cow meat.’”
كُنْتُ عِنْدَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع فَدَعَا بِالْمَائِدَةِ فَأُتِيَ بِثَرِيدٍ وَ لَحْمٍ وَ دَعَا بِزَيْتٍ وَ صَبَّهُ عَلَى اللَّحْمِ فَأَكَلْتُ مَعَهُ.
“Once I was with ‘Abd Allah ‘Alayhi al-Salam, and he (the Imam) asked for table-spread with food. Tharid and meat was brought and he (the Imam) asked for oil which he (the Imam) poured on the meat and I ate with him (the Imam).”’
قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ص الثَّرِيدُ بَرَكَةٌ.
“He (the Imam) said that the Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Tharid is a blessing.’”
قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع لَا تَأْكُلُوا مِنْ رَأْسِ الثَّرِيدِ وَ كُلُوا مِنْ جَوَانِبِهِ فَإِنَّ الْبَرَكَةَ فِي رَأْسِهِ.
’Do not eat from the top of Tharid but eat from its sides because blessing is in its top.’”
أَطْفِئُوا نَائِرَةَ الضَّغَائِنِ بِاللَّحْمِ وَ الثَّرِيدِ.
‘You must extinguish the flame of malice with meat and Tharid (bread in broth).’”
دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع وَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ شِوَاءٌ فَقَالَ لِي ادْنُ فَكُلْ فَقُلْتُ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ هَذَا لِي ضَارٌّ فَقَالَ لِي ادْنُ أُعَلِّمُكَ كَلِمَاتٍ لَا يَضُرُّكَ مَعَهُنَّ شَيْءٌ مِمَّا تَخَافُ قُلْ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَيْرِ الْأَسْمَاءِ مِلْءَ الْأَرْضِ وَ السَّمَاءِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ وَ لَا دَاءٌ تَغَدَّ مَعَنَا.
‘In the name of Allah, the best of names, to the fill of the earth and sky, the Beneficent, the Merciful, the one with whose name not even one thing and illness harms.’ Now you can have lunch with us.’”
اشْتَكَيْتُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ شَكَاةً ضَعُفْتُ مَعَهَا فَأَتَيْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ع فَقَالَ لِي أَرَاكَ ضَعِيفاً قُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ لِي كُلِ الْكَبَابَ فَأَكَلْتُهُ فَبَرَأْتُ.
“I once in al-Madinah became very weak and visited abu al-Hassan (a.s.). He (the Imam) said, ‘I can see you are very weak.’ I replied, ‘Yes, I feel weak.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Eat kabab .’ I then ate kabab and I was cured.’”
قَالَ لِي أَبُو الْحَسَنِ يَعْنِي الْأَوَّلَ ع مَا لِي أَرَاكَ مُصْفَرّاً فَقُلْتُ لَهُ وَعْكٌ[1] أَصَابَنِي فَقَالَ لِي كُلِ اللَّحْمَ فَأَكَلْتُهُ ثُمَّ رَآنِي بَعْدَ جُمْعَةٍ وَ أَنَا عَلَى حَالِي مُصْفَرّاً فَقَالَ لِي أَ لَمْ آمُرْكَ بِأَكْلِ اللَّحْمِ قُلْتُ مَا أَكَلْتُ غَيْرَهُ مُنْذُ أَمَرْتَنِي فَقَالَ وَ كَيْفَ تَأْكُلُهُ قُلْتُ طَبِيخاً فَقَالَ لَا كُلْهُ كَبَاباً فَأَكَلْتُهُ ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَ إِلَيَّ فَدَ
“Once abu al-Hassan, al- Awwal asked me, ‘Why do you look pale?’ I replied, ‘I suffer from a certain pain.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Eat meat.’ I ate meat and the next Friday he (the Imam) saw me as pale as before and said, ‘Did I not tell you to eat meat?’ I replied, ‘Yes, I have not eaten anything other than meat from th
أَكْلُ الْكَبَابِ يَذْهَبُ بِالْحُمَّى.
“One of the two Imam, (Abu Ja‘far or Abu ‘Abd Allah) (a.s.) has said, eating kabab dispels fever.’”
ذَكَرْنَا الرُّءُوسَ مِنَ الشَّاةِ فَقَالَ الرَّأْسُ مَوْضِعُ الذَّكَاةِ وَ أَقْرَبُ مِنَ الْمَرْعَى وَ أَبْعَدُ مِنَ الْأَذَى.
‘The head is the place of slaughtering (intelligence), close to means for grazing and far from harms.’”
قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْهَرِيسَةِ فَإِنَّهَا تُنَشِّطُ لِلْعِبَادَةِ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْماً وَ هِيَ مِنَ الْمَائِدَةِ الَّتِي أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘You must eat al- Harisah (mashed grains and meat) because it energizes you for worshipping for forty days. إِنَّ نَبِيّاً مِنَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ شَكَا إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ الضَّعْفَ وَ قِلَّةَ الْجِمَاعِ فَأَمَرَهُ بِأَكْلِ الْهَرِيسَةِ.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘A Prophet of the Prophets of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, complained against deficiency in going to bed with one’s wife and he was commanded to eat al-Harisah (mashed grains and meat).’”
إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص شَكَا إِلَى رَبِّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَجَعَ الظَّهْرِ فَأَمَرَهُ بِأَكْلِ الْحَبِّ بِاللَّحْمِ يَعْنِي الْهَرِيسَةَ.
