إِذَا اشْتَكَى الْإِنْسَانُ فَلْيَقُلْ- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَ بِاللَّهِ وَ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِقُدْرَةِ اللَّهِ عَلَى مَا يَشَاءُ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ.
‘In the name of Allah, with (the help of) Allah, and through Muhammad the Messenger of Allah, I seek protection with the majesty of Allah and I seek protection with the power of Allah over everything that He wills, against what I feel.’”
يَا مُنْزِلَ الشِّفَاءِ وَ مُذْهِبَ الدَّاءِ أَنْزِلْ عَلَى مَا بِي مِنْ دَاءٍ شِفَاءً.
“O the One who sends cures, and removes pain, send upon me a cure for that from which I suffer.”
شَكَوْتُ إِلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع وَجَعاً بِي فَقَالَ إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ فَضَعْ يَدَكَ مَوْضِعَ سُجُودِكَ ثُمَّ قُلْ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص اشْفِنِي يَا شَافِي لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سُقْماً شِفَاءً مِنْ كُلِّ دَاءٍ وَ سُقْمٍ.
“After prayer place your hand on the area for your prostration and say, ‘In the name of Allah, Muhammad the Messenger of Allah, cure me O Healer; there is no cure except Your cure that leaves no ailment without being removed, the cure for all pain and ailments.’”
مَرِضَ عَلِيٌّ ص فَأَتَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص فَقَالَ لَهُ قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ تَعْجِيلَ عَافِيَتِكَ وَ صَبْراً عَلَى بَلِيَّتِكَ وَ خُرُوجاً إِلَى رَحْمَتِكَ.
“Once, Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.) became ill. The Messenger of Allah visited him and said, ‘Say, O Lord, I plead before You for a quick recovery, (the ability to have) patience with misfortune from You and coming out of it into Your favors and mercy.”
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ص كَانَ يُنَشِّرُ بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ[2] تَضَعُ يَدَكَ عَلَى مَوْضِعِ الْوَجَعِ وَ تَقُولُ أَيُّهَا الْوَجَعُ اسْكُنْ بِسَكِينَةِ اللَّهِ وَ قِرْ بِوَقَارِ اللَّهِ وَ انْحَجِزْ بِحَاجِزِ اللَّهِ وَ اهْدَأْ بِهَدْءِ اللَّهِ[1] أُعِيذُكَ أَيُّهَا الْإِنْسَانُ بِمَا أَعَاذَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ بِهِ عَرْشَهُ وَ مَلَائِكَتَهُ- يَوْمَ الرَّجْفَةِ وَ الزَّلَازِلِ[2] تَقُولُ ذَلِكَ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ وَ لَ

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Harun ibn Muslim from Mas’adah ibn Sadaqa from abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) who has said the following: “The Holy Prophet would seek cure with this supplication. He would place his hand over the painful area and say, ‘O pain, calm down by the serenity of Allah, silence by
تَضَعُ يَدَكَ عَلَى مَوْضِعِ الْوَجَعِ وَ تَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِحَقِّ الْقُرْآنِ الْعَظِيمِ الَّذِي نَزَلَ بِهِ الرُّوحُ الْأَمِينُ وَ هُوَ عِنْدَكَ فِي أُمِّ الْكِتَابِ عَلِيٌّ حَكِيمٌ أَنْ تَشْفِيَنِي بِشِفَائِكَ وَ تُدَاوِيَنِي بِدَوَائِكَ وَ تُعَافِيَنِي مِنْ بَلَائِكَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَ تُصَلِّي عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ.
“Place your hand over the painful area and say, ‘O Lord, I plead before You through the Holy Quran that the trusted Spirit brought (to Your Messenger) and it is before You in the original Book, high and full of wisdom, provide me cures with Your treatment, medication with Your medicine and good health from ailment You
عَرَضَ بِي وَجَعٌ فِي رُكْبَتِي فَشَكَوْتُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع فَقَالَ إِذَا أَنْتَ صَلَّيْتَ فَقُلْ- يَا أَجْوَدَ مَنْ أَعْطَى وَ يَا خَيْرَ مَنْ سُئِلَ وَ يَا أَرْحَمَ مَنِ اسْتُرْحِمَ ارْحَمْ ضَعْفِي وَ قِلَّةَ حِيلَتِي وَ عَافِنِي مِنْ وَجَعِي قَالَ فَفَعَلْتُهُ فَعُوفِيتُ.
“Once my knee became painful and I complain before abu Ja’far (a.s.) and he instructed me to say after prayer, ‘O the Most Generous of the givers, O the Best of those pleaded for help, O the Most Merciful of the merciful ones, be kind to my weakness, lack of strength and grant me recovery from my pain.’ I (the narrator
ذُكِرَتْ عِنْدَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع الْوَحْشَةُ فَقَالَ أَ لَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ إِذَا قُلْتُمُوهُ لَمْ تَسْتَوْحِشُوا بِلَيْلٍ وَ لَا نَهَارٍ- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَ بِاللَّهِ وَ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَ أَنَّهُ مَنْ يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بالِغُ أَمْرِهِ قَدْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدْراً اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي فِي كَنَفِكَ وَ فِي جِوَارِكَ وَ اجْعَلْنِي فِي أَمَان
“Once I mentioned fear before Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) and he said, ‘I should tell you something that after saying it you will not be frightened during the day or night, say, “In the name of Allah, with (the help of) Allah, I place my trust before Allah; whoever places his trust before Allah, He is suffices him and Allah c
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِقُدْرَةِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِجَلَالِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَةِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِعَفْوِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِمَغْفِرَةِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِرَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِسُلْطَانِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي هُوَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ* وَ أَعُوذُ بِكَرَمِ اللَّهِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِجَمْعِ اللَّهِ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ وَ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ مَرِيدٍ- وَ شَرِّ كُلِّ قَر

قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع رَقَى النَّبِيُّ ص حَسَناً وَ حُسَيْناً فَقَالَ أُعِيذُكُمَا بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ وَ أَسْمَائِهِ الْحُسْنَى كُلِّهَا عَامَّةً مِنْ شَرِّ السَّامَّةِ وَ الْهَامَّةِ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ[2] وَ مِنْ شَرِّ حاسِدٍ إِذا حَسَدَ ثُمَّ الْتَفَتَ النَّبِيُّ ص إِلَيْنَا فَقَالَ هَكَذَا كَانَ يُعَوِّذُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ- إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَ إِسْحَاقَ ع.
“Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.) has said, ‘The Holy Prophet read the following for the protection of al-Hassan and al-Husayn, recipients of divine supreme covenant, ‘I seek protection for both of you with the perfect words of Allah, with all of His beautiful, universal names against the evil of the poisonou
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ع يَقُولُ إِذَا أَمْسَيْتَ فَنَظَرْتَ إِلَى الشَّمْسِ فِي غُرُوبٍ وَ إِدْبَارٍ فَقُلْ- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَ بِاللَّهِ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ صَاحِبَةً وَ لَا وَلَداً وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ شَرِيكٌ فِي الْمُلْكِ وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلِيٌّ مِنَ الذُّلِّ وَ كَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيراً وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي يَصِفُ وَ لَا يُوصَفُ وَ يَعْلَمُ وَ لَا يُعْلَمُ يَعْلَمُ خائِنَةَ الْأ
‘In the evening when you see the sun about to go down and disappear then say, “In the name of Allah, with (the help of) Allah, all praise belongs to Allah, Who has not taken any companion, or children. Who has no partner in His kingdom or a supporter against weakness, and He is greater than can be described, all praise
عَلَّمَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ قُلْ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الْجَلِيلِ أُعِيذُ فُلَاناً بِاللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ مِنَ الْهَامَّةِ وَ السَّامَّةِ وَ اللَّامَّةِ وَ الْعَامَّةِ وَ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَ الْإِنْسِ وَ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ وَ الْعَجَمِ وَ مِنْ نَفْثِهِمْ[1] وَ بَغْيِهِمْ وَ نَفْخِهِمْ وَ بِآيَةِ الْكُرْسِيِّ ثُمَّ تَقْرَؤُهَا ثُمَّ تَقُولُ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ أُعِيذُ فُلَاناً بِاللَّهِ الْجَلِيلِ حَتَّى تَأ

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Qutaybah al-‘A’Sha’ who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) instructed me with this supplication: ‘In the name of Allah, the glorious, I seek protection for so and so with (the help of) Allah, the Most Great, again
قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ إِنِّي أَخَافُ الْعَقَارِبَ فَقَالَ انْظُرْ إِلَى بَنَاتِ نَعْشٍ الْكَوَاكِبِ الثَّلَاثَةِ الْوُسْطَى مِنْهَا بِجَنْبِهِ كَوْكَبٌ صَغِيرٌ قَرِيبٌ مِنْهُ تُسَمِّيهِ الْعَرَبُ السُّهَا وَ نَحْنُ نُسَمِّيهِ أَسْلَمَ أَحِدَّ النَّظَرَ إِلَيْهِ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ وَ قُلْ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ أَسْلَمَ[3] صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَجِّلْ فَرَجَهُمْ
“Once I said to Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) ‘May Allah keep my soul in service for your cause, I am afraid of scorpions. The Imam said, ‘Look at the little bear (Ursa Minor ) and of the three stars next to the middle one of them there is a small star. Arabs call it al-Suha’. We call it Aslama, look at it gazing every night an
سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ مَنْ قَالَ هَذِهِ الْكَلِمَاتِ فَأَنَا ضَامِنٌ لَهُ أَلَّا يُصِيبَهُ عَقْرَبٌ وَ لَا هَامَّةٌ حَتَّى يُصْبِحَ- أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ الَّتِي لَا يُجَاوِزُهُنَّ بَرٌّ وَ لَا فَاجِرٌ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا ذَرَأَ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا بَرَأَ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ دَابَّةٍ هُوَ آخِذٌ بِناصِيَتِها إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلى صِراطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ.
“I heard the Imam (a.s.) saying, ‘Whoever says these words I guarantee that scorpions and small vermin will not harm him, ‘I seek protection through such words of Allah that no virtuous or wicked person is able to bypass, I seek protection thereby against the evil of whatever He has spread and settled (on earth), again
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص فِي بَعْضِ مَغَازِيهِ إِذَا شَكَوْا إِلَيْهِ الْبَرَاغِيثَ أَنَّهَا تُؤْذِيهِمْ فَقَالَ إِذَا أَخَذَ أَحَدُكُمْ مَضْجَعَهُ فَلْيَقُلْ أَيُّهَا الْأَسْوَدُ الْوَثَّابُ الَّذِي لَا يُبَالِي غَلَقاً وَ لَا بَاباً عَزَمْتُ عَلَيْكَ بِأُمِّ الْكِتَابِ[1] أَلَّا تُؤْذِيَنِي وَ أَصْحَابِي إِلَى أَنْ يَذْهَبَ اللَّيْلُ وَ يَجِيءَ الصُّبْحُ بِمَا جَاءَ وَ الَّذِي نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَى أَنْ يَئُوبَ الصُّبْ
“During certain expeditions people complained before the Messenger of Allah against fleas that irritated them. He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘When going into your bed say, “O black jumping thing that does not stop by the barrier or door I ask you by the original Book, do not irritate me and my companions until the
قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع إِذَا لَقِيتَ السَّبُعَ فَقُلْ- أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ دَانِيَالَ وَ الْجُبِّ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ أَسَدٍ مُسْتَأْسِدٍ[3].
“Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.) has said, ‘If you come face to face with a beast say, ‘I seek protection with the Lord of Daniel and the well against the evil of all powerful lions.” Note: Daniel was thrown in a well with wild beasts but they did not harm him.
يَسْأَلُهُ عُوذَةً لِلرِّيَاحِ الَّتِي تَعْرِضُ لِلصِّبْيَانِ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ بِخَطِّهِ بِهَاتَيْنِ الْعُوذَتَيْنِ وَ زَعَمَ صَالِحٌ أَنَّهُ أَنْفَذَهُمَا إِلَيَّ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بِخَطِّهِ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً رَسُولُ اللَّهِ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ لا إِلهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَ لَا رَبَّ لِي إِلَّا اللَّهُ لَهُ ال

قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع إِذَا لَقِيتَ السَّبُعَ فَاقْرَأْ فِي وَجْهِهِ آيَةَ الْكُرْسِيِّ وَ قُلْ لَهُ عَزَمْتُ عَلَيْكَ بِعَزِيمَةِ اللَّهِ وَ عَزِيمَةِ مُحَمَّدٍ ص وَ عَزِيمَةِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ ع وَ عَزِيمَةِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ع وَ الْأَئِمَّةِ الطَّاهِرِينَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ فَإِنَّهُ يَنْصَرِفُ عَنْكَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ قَالَ فَخَرَجْتُ فَإِذَا السَّبُعُ قَدِ اعْتَرَضَ فَ
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Whenever you may come face to face with a wild beast, read verse 255 of Chapter 2 of the Holy Quran to its face and say, “I swear you by the oath of Allah, the oath of Muhammad (a.s.) the oath of Solomon son of David, the oath of Amir al-Mu’Mini, Ali ibn abu Talib and A ’immah, the cle
مَنْ قَالَ فِي دُبُرِ الْفَرِيضَةِ- أَسْتَوْدِعُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ الْجَلِيلَ نَفْسِي وَ أَهْلِي وَ وُلْدِي وَ مَنْ يَعْنِينِي أَمْرُهُ[2] وَ أَسْتَوْدِعُ اللَّهَ الْمَرْهُوبَ الْمَخُوفَ الْمُتَضَعْضِعَ لِعَظَمَتِهِ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ نَفْسِي وَ أَهْلِي وَ مَالِي وَ وُلْدِي وَ مَنْ يَعْنِينِي أَمْرُهُ حُفَّ بِجَنَاحٍ مِنْ أَجْنِحَةِ جَبْرَئِيلَ ع وَ حُفِظَ فِي نَفْسِهِ وَ أَهْلِهِ وَ مَالِهِ.

مَنْ بَاتَ فِي دَارٍ وَ بَيْتٍ وَحْدَهُ فَلْيَقْرَأْ آيَةَ الْكُرْسِيِّ وَ لْيَقُلِ اللَّهُمَّ آنِسْ وَحْشَتِي وَ آمِنْ رَوْعَتِي وَ أَعِنِّي عَلَى وَحْدَتِي.
“If one sleeps alone in a house he should read verse 255 of Chapter 2 of the Holy Quran and say, ‘O Lord, calm down my anxiety, change my concern into peace and assist me in my loneliness.’”
سَمِعْتُ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع يَقُولُ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص يَا عَلِيُّ أَ لَا أُعَلِّمُكَ كَلِمَاتٍ إِذَا وَقَعْتَ فِي وَرْطَةٍ[4] أَوْ بَلِيَّةٍ فَقُلْ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ* وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يَصْرِفُ بِهَا عَنْكَ مَا يَشَاءُ مِنْ أَنْوَاعِ الْبَلَاءِ.
“I heard Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.) saying, ‘The Messenger of Allah once said to me, “O Ali I should instruct you with the words that you should say in a troublesome condition or a misfortune: ‘(I begin) in the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. كَانَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَدْعُو عِنْدَ قِرَاءَةِ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ- اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ الْمُتَوَحِّدُ بِالْقُدْرَةِ وَ السُّلْطَانِ الْمَتِينِ وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ الْمُتَعَالِي بِالْعِزِّ وَ الْكِبْرِيَاءِ وَ فَوْقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ[6] رَبَّنَا وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ الْمُكْتَفِي بِعِلْمِكَ- وَ الْمُحْتَاجُ إِلَيْكَ كُلُّ ذِي عِلْمٍ رَبَّنَا وَ لَك

تَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ وَ لَمْ يَسْأَلِ الْعِبَادُ مِثْلَكَ أَسْأَلُكَ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيِّكَ وَ رَسُولِكَ وَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلِكَ وَ صَفِيِّكَ وَ مُوسَى كَلِيمِكَ وَ نَجِيِّكَ وَ عِيسَى كَلِمَتِكَ وَ رُوحِكَ وَ أَسْأَلُكَ بِصُحُفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَ تَوْرَاةِ مُوسَى وَ زَبُورِ دَاوُدَ وَ إِنْجِيلِ عِيسَى وَ قُرْآنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ص وَ بِكُلِّ وَحْيٍ أَوْحَيْتَهُ وَ قَضَاءٍ أَمْضَيْتَهُ وَ حَقٍّ قَضَيْتَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص أُعَلِّمُكَ دُعَاءً لَا تَنْسَى الْقُرْآنَ- اللَّهُمَّ ارْحَمْنِي[3] بِتَرْكِ مَعَاصِيكَ أَبَداً مَا أَبْقَيْتَنِي وَ ارْحَمْنِي مِنْ تَكَلُّفِ مَا لَا يَعْنِينِي وَ ارْزُقْنِي حُسْنَ الْمَنْظَرِ فِيمَا يُرْضِيكَ عَنِّي وَ أَلْزِمْ قَلْبِي حِفْظَ كِتَابِكَ كَمَا عَلَّمْتَنِي وَ ارْزُقْنِي أَنْ أَتْلُوَهُ عَلَى النَّحْوِ الَّذِي يُرْضِيكَ عَنِّي اللَّهُمَّ نَوِّرْ بِكِتَابِكَ بَصَرِي وَ اشْرَ

قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي أَخْشَاكَ كَأَنِّي أَرَاكَ وَ أَسْعِدْنِي بِتَقْوَاكَ وَ لَا تُشْقِنِي بِنَشْطِي لِمَعَاصِيكَ وَ خِرْ لِي فِي قَضَائِكَ وَ بَارِكْ لِي فِي قَدَرِكَ حَتَّى لَا أُحِبَّ تَأْخِيرَ مَا عَجَّلْتَ وَ لَا تَعْجِيلَ مَا أَخَّرْتَ وَ اجْعَلْ غِنَايَ فِي نَفْسِي وَ مَتِّعْنِي بِسَمْعِي وَ بَصَرِي وَ اجْعَلْهُمَا الْوَارِثَيْنِ مِنِّي وَ انْصُرْنِي عَلَى مَنْ ظَلَمَنِي وَ أَرِنِي فِيهِ قُدْرَتَكَ يَا

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى هَوْلِ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ وَ أَخْرِجْنِي مِنَ الدُّنْيَا سَالِماً وَ زَوِّجْنِي مِنَ الْحُورِ الْعِينِ وَ اكْفِنِي مَئُونَتِي وَ مَئُونَةَ عِيَالِي وَ مَئُونَةَ النَّاسِ وَ أَدْخِلْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ.

Abu Ali al-Ash’ari has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan ibn Yahya from abu Sulayman al-Jassas from Ibrahim ibn Maymun who has said the following: “I heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) saying, ‘O Lord, assist me in the horror of the Day of Judgment, take me out of this world safely, pair me up with the
قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ كُلِّ خَيْرٍ أَحَاطَ بِهِ عِلْمُكَ وَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ كُلِّ سُوءٍ أَحَاطَ بِهِ عِلْمُكَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عَافِيَتَكَ فِي أُمُورِي كُلِّهَا وَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ خِزْيِ الدُّنْيَا وَ عَذَابِ الْآخِرَةِ.
“O Lord, I plead to receive from You (my share of) all good which Your knowledge encompasses, I seek protection with You against all evil which is encompassed by Your knowledge, O Lord, I plead before You for good health from You in all of my affairs, I seek protection with You against losses in this world and the torm
كَتَبَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَصِيرٍ[1] يَسْأَلُهُ أَنْ يَكْتُبَ لَهُ فِي أَسْفَلِ كِتَابِهِ دُعَاءً يُعَلِّمُهُ إِيَّاهُ يَدْعُو بِهِ فَيُعْصَمُ بِهِ مِنَ الذُّنُوبِ جَامِعاً لِلدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ فَكَتَبَ ع بِخَطِّهِ- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ* يَا مَنْ أَظْهَرَ الْجَمِيلَ وَ سَتَرَ الْقَبِيحَ وَ لَمْ يَهْتِكِ السِّتْرَ عَنِّي يَا كَرِيمَ الْعَفْوِ يَا حَسَنَ التَّجَاوُزِ يَا وَاسِعَ الْمَغْفِرَةِ يَا بَاسِطَ
“(I begin) in the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful, O the One who manifests the good things, hides the bad ones, does not rip apart the covering from me (my privacy), O magnanimous in pardoning, O the One who overlooks faults with grace, whose forgiveness is vast, whose hands are wide open with kindness, who
اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ ثِقَتِي فِي كُلِّ كُرْبَةٍ وَ أَنْتَ رَجَائِي فِي كُلِّ شِدَّةٍ وَ أَنْتَ لِي فِي كُلِّ أَمْرٍ نَزَلَ بِي ثِقَةٌ وَ عُدَّةٌ كَمْ مِنْ كَرْبٍ يَضْعُفُ عَنْهُ الْفُؤَادُ وَ تَقِلُّ فِيهِ الْحِيلَةُ[1] وَ يَخْذُلُ عَنْهُ الْقَرِيبُ وَ الْبَعِيدُ وَ يَشْمَتُ بِهِ الْعَدُوُّ وَ تَعْنِينِي فِيهِ الْأُمُورُ أَنْزَلْتُهُ بِكَ وَ شَكَوْتُهُ إِلَيْكَ رَاغِباً فِيهِ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ فَفَرَّجْتَهُ وَ كَشَفْتَهُ

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from abu ‘Abd Allah al-Barqi and abu Talib from Bakr ibn Muhammad from abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) who has said the following: “O Lord, You are my trustee in every distressful condition. You are my hope in all suffering, You are for me in all of my problems,
قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِجَلَالِكَ وَ جَمَالِكَ وَ كَرَمِكَ أَنْ تَفْعَلَ بِي كَذَا وَ كَذَا.
"Say, ‘O Lord, I plead before You through Your Glory, Beauty and Magnanimity to provide me such and such help,’ one should mention one’s wishes.”
قَالَ لِي أَكْثِرْ مِنْ أَنْ تَقُولَ- اللَّهُمَّ لَا تَجْعَلْنِي مِنَ الْمُعَارِينَ[2] وَ لَا تُخْرِجْنِي مِنَ التَّقْصِيرِ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَمَّا الْمُعَارِينَ فَقَدْ عَرَفْتُ فَمَا مَعْنَى لَا تُخْرِجْنِي مِنَ التَّقْصِيرِ قَالَ كُلُّ عَمَلٍ تَعْمَلُهُ تُرِيدُ بِهِ وَجْهَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فَكُنْ فِيهِ مُقَصِّراً عِنْدَ نَفْسِكَ فَإِنَّ النَّاسَ كُلَّهُمْ فِي أَعْمَالِهِمْ فِي مَا بَيْنَهُمْ وَ بَيْنَ اللَّهِ ع

It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from ibn Mahbub from al- Fadl ibn Yunus who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan (a.s.) once said to me, ‘Say very often, “O Lord, do not place me among those whose belief is temporary and do not take me out of shortcomings.” I (the narrator) then asked, ‘I kn
قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع لَقَدْ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ بِكَلِمَتَيْنِ دَعَا بِهِمَا قَالَ- اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ تُعَذِّبْنِي فَأَهْلٌ لِذَلِكَ أَنَا وَ إِنْ تَغْفِرْ لِي فَأَهْلٌ لِذَلِكَ أَنْتَ فَغَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ.

رَأَيْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ الْحُسَيْنِ ع فِي فِنَاءِ الْكَعْبَةِ فِي اللَّيْلِ وَ هُوَ يُصَلِّي فَأَطَالَ الْقِيَامَ- حَتَّى جَعَلَ مَرَّةً يَتَوَكَّأُ عَلَى رِجْلِهِ الْيُمْنَى وَ مَرَّةً عَلَى رِجْلِهِ الْيُسْرَى ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ بِصَوْتٍ كَأَنَّهُ بَاكٍ- يَا سَيِّدِي تُعَذِّبُنِي وَ حُبُّكَ فِي قَلْبِي أَمَا وَ عِزَّتِكَ لَئِنْ فَعَلْتَ لَتَجْمَعَنَّ بَيْنِي وَ بَيْنَ قَوْمٍ طَالَ مَا عَادَيْتُهُمْ فِيكَ[1].

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع ادْعُ اللَّهَ لَنَا فَقَالَ- اللَّهُمَّ ارْزُقْهُمْ صِدْقَ الْحَدِيثِ وَ أَدَاءَ الْأَمَانَةِ وَ الْمُحَافَظَةَ عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ أَحَقُّ خَلْقِكَ أَنْ تَفْعَلَهُ بِهِمُ اللَّهُمَّ وَ افْعَلْهُ بِهِمْ.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from al- Husayn ibn ‘Atiyyah from Zayd ibn al-Sa’Igh who has said the following: “Once I said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) ‘Please, pray to Allah for us.’ The Imam said, ‘O Lord, give them truthfulness in their words (Hadith), safe keeping of their trust

أَمْلَى عَلَيَّ هَذَا الدُّعَاءَ- أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع وَ هُوَ جَامِعٌ لِلدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ تَقُولُ بَعْدَ حَمْدِ اللَّهِ وَ الثَّنَاءِ عَلَيْهِ- اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لا إِلهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ وَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ* وَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ الْواحِدُ الْقَهَّارُ* وَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ الْمَلِكُ الْجَبَّ

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَلِّمْنِي دُعَاءً أَدْعُو بِهِ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْ يَا مَنْ أَرْجُوهُ لِكُلِ خَيْرٍ- وَ يَا مَنْ آمَنُ سَخَطَهُ[1] عِنْدَ كُلِّ عَثْرَةٍ وَ يَا مَنْ يُعْطِي بِالْقَلِيلِ الْكَثِيرَ يَا مَنْ أَعْطَى مَنْ سَأَلَهُ تَحَنُّناً مِنْهُ وَ رَحْمَةً يَا مَنْ أَعْطَى مَنْ لَمْ يَسْأَلْهُ وَ لَمْ يَعْرِفْهُ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَعْطِنِي بِمَسْأَلَتِي مِنْ جَمِيعِ خَيْرِ

أَنَّهُ عَلَّمَ أَخَاهُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ هَذَا الدُّعَاءَ اللَّهُمَّ ارْفَعْ ظَنِّي صَاعِداً وَ لَا تُطْمِعْ فِيَّ عَدُوّاً وَ لَا حَاسِداً وَ احْفَظْنِي قَائِماً وَ قَاعِداً وَ يَقْظَاناً [يَقْظَانَ] وَ رَاقِداً اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَ ارْحَمْنِي وَ اهْدِنِي سَبِيلَكَ الْأَقْوَمَ وَ قِنِي حَرَّ جَهَنَّمَ وَ احْطُطْ عَنِّي الْمَغْرَمَ وَ الْمَأْثَمَ وَ اجْعَلْنِي مِنْ خَيْرِ خِيَارِ الْعَالَمِ[2]

قُلْتُ لَهُ عَلِّمْنِي دُعَاءً فَقَالَ فَأَيْنَ أَنْتَ عَنْ دُعَاءِ الْإِلْحَاحِ قَالَ قُلْتُ وَ مَا دُعَاءُ الْإِلْحَاحِ فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَ مَا بَيْنَهُنَّ وَ رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ وَ رَبَّ جَبْرَئِيلَ وَ مِيكَائِيلَ وَ إِسْرَافِيلَ وَ رَبَّ الْقُرْآنِ الْعَظِيمِ وَ رَبَّ مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّينَ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِالَّذِي[3] تَقُومُ بِهِ السَّمَاءُ وَ بِهِ تَقُومُ الْأ

It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa’id from al-Nadr ibn Suwayd from ibn Sinan from Hafs from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “I asked him to instinct me with a supplication. إِنَّ أَبَا ذَرٍّ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص وَ مَعَهُ جَبْرَئِيلُ ع فِي صُورَةِ دِحْيَةَ الْكَلْبِيِّ وَ قَدِ اسْتَخْلَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص فَلَمَّا رَآهُمَا انْصَرَفَ عَنْهُمَا وَ لَمْ يَقْطَعْ كَلَامَهُمَا فَقَالَ جَبْرَئِيلُ ع يَا مُحَمَّدُ هَذَا أَبُو ذَرٍّ قَدْ مَرَّ بِنَا وَ لَمْ يُسَلِّمْ عَلَيْنَا أَمَا لَوْ سَلَّمَ لَرَدَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ يَا مُحَمَّدُ إِنَّ لَهُ دُعَاءً يَدْعُو بِهِ مَعْرُوفاً عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الس
“Once abu Dharr came to the Messenger of Allah while Jibril (Gabriel) was, in the form of Dihyah al-Kalbi (one of the companions of the Holy Prophet), in a private meeting with the Messenger of Allah. أَخَذْتُ هَذَا الدُّعَاءَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ع قَالَ وَ كَانَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ يُسَمِّيهِ الْجَامِعَ- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ* أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً عَبْدُهُ وَ رَسُولُهُ آمَنْتُ بِاللَّهِ وَ بِجَمِيعِ رُسُلِهِ وَ بِجَمِيعِ مَا أَنْزَلَ بِهِ[1] عَلَى جَمِيعِ الرُّسُلِ وَ أَنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَ لِقَاءَه

Ali has narrated from his father from ibn Mahbub from Hisham ibn Salim from abu Hamza who has said the following: “I acquired this supplication from abu Ja’far, Muhammad ibn Ali, recipient of divine supreme covenant. Abu Ja’far (a.s.) would call it al-Jami’ (comprehensive supplication): “In the name of Allah, the B
