Prophethood

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ لَا تُنْزِلُوا النِّسَاءَ بِالْغُرَفِ وَ لَا تُعَلِّمُوهُنَّ الْكِتَابَةَ وَ عَلِّمُوهُنَّ الْمِغْزَلَ وَ سُورَةَ النُّورِ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘You must not lodge women in a chamber, do not teach them writing (that would lead to unlawful behavior), but teach them the spinning wheel and Chapter 2

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص أَنْ يُرْكَبَ سَرْجٌ بِفَرْجٍ‌[1].

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has prohibited riding of a female’s genital organ on a saddle.’”

ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص النِّسَاءَ فَقَالَ اعْصُوهُنَّ فِي الْمَعْرُوفِ‌[1] قَبْلَ أَنْ يَأْمُرْنَكُمْ بِالْمُنْكَرِ وَ تَعَوَّذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنْ شِرَارِهِنَّ وَ كُونُوا مِنْ خِيَارِهِنَّ عَلَى حَذَرٍ.

2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Mahbub from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan who has said the following: “Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that women were mentioned before the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, a

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ مَنْ أَطَاعَ امْرَأَتَهُ أَكَبَّهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ فِي النَّارِ قِيلَ وَ مَا تِلْكَ الطَّاعَةُ قَالَ تَطْلُبُ مِنْهُ الذَّهَابَ إِلَى الْحَمَّامَاتِ وَ الْعُرُسَاتِ وَ الْعِيدَاتِ وَ النِّيَاحَاتِ وَ الثِّيَابَ الرِّقَاقَ‌[2].

3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfaliy from al-Sakuniy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Whoever obeys his woman Allah th

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ‌ طَاعَةُ الْمَرْأَةِ نَدَامَةٌ.

“He (the Imam) (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Obeying the woman brings regret.’”

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص إِذَا أَرَادَ الْحَرْبَ دَعَا نِسَاءَهُ فَاسْتَشَارَهُنَّ ثُمَّ خَالَفَهُنَّ.

“Whenever the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, was about to embark on an armed expedition, he would call his wives for advice and then oppose them.’” (Details of such advice are not mentioned)

اسْتَعِيذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنْ شِرَارِ نِسَائِكُمْ وَ كُونُوا مِنْ خِيَارِهِنَّ عَلَى حَذَرٍ وَ لَا تُطِيعُوهُنَّ فِي الْمَعْرُوفِ فَيَدْعُونَكُمْ إِلَى الْمُنْكَرِ وَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص النِّسَاءُ لَا يُشَاوَرْنَ فِي النَّجْوَى وَ لَا يُطَعْنَ فِي ذَوِي الْقُرْبَى إِنَّ الْمَرْأَةَ إِذَا أَسَنَّتْ ذَهَبَ خَيْرُ شَطْرَيْهَا وَ بَقِيَ شَرُّهُمَا وَ ذَلِكَ أَنَّهُ يَعْقِمُ رَحِمُهَا وَ يَسُوءُ خُلُقُهَا وَ يَحْ

12. Ali has narrated from his father from “Amr ibn ‘Uthman from certain persons of his people who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘You must ask for refuge with Allah against the wicked ones of your women and remain on your guard with the good ones of them. You must not obey them in lawful matt

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ لَيْسَ لِلنِّسَاءِ مِنْ سَرَوَاتِ الطَّرِيقِ شَيْ‌ءٌ[2] وَ لَكِنَّهَا تَمْشِي فِي جَانِبِ الْحَائِطِ وَ الطَّرِيقِ.

“Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ’A woman must not walk in the center of the road. She must walk next to the wall or side of the road.”’

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ أَيُّ امْرَأَةٍ تَطَيَّبَتْ ثُمَّ خَرَجَتْ مِنْ بَيْتِهَا فَهِيَ تُلْعَنُ‌[3] حَتَّى تَرْجِعَ‌ إِلَى بَيْتِهَا مَتَى مَا رَجَعَتْ.

“Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘If a woman wears perfumes then goes out of her house, she is then cursed and condemned until she returns to her home whenever she does.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ لَيْسَ لِلنِّسَاءِ مِنْ سَرَاةِ الطَّرِيقِ وَ لَكِنْ جَنْبَيْهِ يَعْنِي وَسَطَهُ.

‘Women must not walk in the Surat (center) of the road but they must walk on either side - it (surat) is the middle of it.’”

فِيمَا أَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مِنَ الْبَيْعَةِ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ أَنْ لَا يَحْتَبِينَ‌[3] وَ لَا يَقْعُدْنَ مَعَ الرِّجَالِ فِي الْخَلَاءِ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that of the matters for which the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, took pledges from the women was that they must not sit in Ihtibah position and must not sit with men privately.” ( Ihtibah is sitting with

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ لَا تَحِلُّ لِامْرَأَةٍ حَاضَتْ أَنْ تَتَّخِذَ قُصَّةً أَوْ جُمَّةً[2].

‘It is not lawful for a woman during her experiencing Hayd (menses) to form her hairs in a knot or allow a portion to hang down her forehead.’”

سُئِلَ عَنِ الْقَرَامِلِ الَّتِي تَصْنَعُهَا النِّسَاءُ فِي رُءُوسِهِنَّ يَصِلْنَهُ بِشُعُورِهِنَّ فَقَالَ لَا بَأْسَ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ بِمَا تَزَيَّنَتْ بِهِ لِزَوْجِهَا قَالَ فَقُلْتُ بَلَغَنَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص لَعَنَ الْوَاصِلَةَ وَ الْمَوْصُولَةَ فَقَالَ لَيْسَ هُنَاكَ إِنَّمَا لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص الْوَاصِلَةَ وَ الْمَوْصُولَةَ الَّتِي تَزْنِي فِي شَبَابِهَا فَلَمَّا كَبِرَتْ قَادَتِ النِّسَاءَ إِلَى

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), was asked about loops and knots that women form out of their hairs on their head and join it with their hairs. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful if it is for beautification before her husband.’ I then asked, ‘We are told that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and

اسْتَقْبَلَ شَابٌّ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ امْرَأَةً بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَ كَانَ النِّسَاءُ يَتَقَنَّعْنَ خَلْفَ آذَانِهِنَّ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهَا وَ هِيَ مُقْبِلَةٌ فَلَمَّا جَازَتْ نَظَرَ إِلَيْهَا وَ دَخَلَ فِي زُقَاقٍ قَدْ سَمَّاهُ بِبَنِي فُلَانٍ فَجَعَلَ يَنْظُرُ خَلْفَهَا وَ اعْتَرَضَ وَجْهَهُ عَظْمٌ فِي الْحَائِطِ أَوْ زُجَاجَةٌ فَشَقَّ وَجْهَهُ فَلَمَّا مَضَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ نَظَرَ فَإِذَا الدِّمَاءُ تَسِيلُ عَلَى صَدْرِهِ

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘Once a young man from al-Ansar (people of al-Madinah) came face to face with a woman in al-Madinah. Women would wear their scarf behind their ears. He looked at her when she was coming, and when she passed by he kept looking, and she entered in an alley that he called alley of so and so p

كَانَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلَانِ يُسَمَّى أَحَدُهُمَا هِيتَ وَ الْآخَرُ مَانِعٌ‌[2] فَقَالا لِرَجُلٍ وَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص يَسْمَعُ إِذَا افْتَتَحْتُمُ الطَّائِفَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ فَعَلَيْكَ بِابْنَةِ غَيْلَانَ الثَّقَفِيَّةِ فَإِنَّهَا شُمُوعٌ بَخْلَاءُ مُبَتَّلَةٌ هَيْفَاءُ شَنْبَاءُ[3] إِذَا جَلَسَتْ تَثَنَّتْ وَ إِذَا تَكَلَّمَتْ غَنَّتْ- تُقْبِلُ بِأَرْبَعٍ وَ تُدْبِرُ بِثَمَانٍ بَيْنَ رِجْلَيْهَا مِثْلُ الْقَدَح

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has narrated from his ancestors that there were two men in al- Madinah, one was called Hayt and the other was called Mani‘. They spoke to a man when the Messenger of Allah (saww) was hearing, ‘When you enter Taef, by the will of Allah, do not miss daughter of Ghaylan al-Thaqafiy because she is a

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ لَا حُرْمَةَ لِنِسَاءِ أَهْلِ الذِّمَّةِ أَنْ يُنْظَرَ إِلَى شُعُورِهِنَّ وَ أَيْدِيهِنَ‌[1].

“The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘It is not unlawful for one to look at the hairs and hands of the taxpayer women.’”

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع كَيْفَ مَاسَحَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص النِّسَاءَ حِينَ بَايَعَهُنَّ قَالَ دَعَا بِمِرْكَنِهِ‌[1] الَّذِي كَانَ يَتَوَضَّأُ فِيهِ فَصَبَّ فِيهِ مَاءً ثُمَّ غَمَسَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى فَكُلَّمَا بَايَعَ وَاحِدَةً مِنْهُنَّ قَالَ اغْمِسِي يَدَكِ فَتَغْمِسُ كَمَا غَمَسَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص فَكَانَ هَذَا مُمَاسَحَتَهُ إِيَّاهُنَّ. - عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘How did the Messenger of Allah touch the hands of women for their pledge of allegiance? He (the Imam) said, ‘He (the Messenger of Allah) asked for a bucket in which he would make wudu. He (the Messenger of Allah) poured water in it, then immersed his right hand in water and as soon

قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‌ أَ تَدْرِي كَيْفَ بَايَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص النِّسَاءَ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ وَ ابْنُ رَسُولِهِ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ جَمَعَهُنَّ حَوْلَهُ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِتَوْرِ بِرَامٍ‌[2] فَصَبَّ فِيهِ نَضُوحاً ثُمَّ غَمَسَ يَدَهُ فِيهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ اسْمَعْنَ يَا هَؤُلَاءِ أُبَايِعُكُنَّ عَلَى أَنْ لَا تُشْرِكْنَ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئاً وَ لَا تَسْرِقْنَ وَ لَا تَزْنِينَ وَ لَا تَقْتُلْنَ أَوْلَادَكُنَّ وَ لَا تَأْ

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once asked me, ‘Do you know how the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, pledged allegiance with women?’ I replied, ‘Allah knows best and the child of His Messenger knows best.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘He (the Messenger o

الْمَعْرُوفُ أَنْ لَا يَشْقُقْنَ جَيْباً وَ لَا يَلْطِمْنَ خَدّاً وَ لَا يَدْعُونَ وَيْلًا وَ لَا يَتَخَلَّفْنَ عِنْدَ قَبْرٍ وَ لَا يُسَوِّدْنَ ثَوْباً وَ لَا يَنْشُرْنَ شَعْراً.

“About the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘. . . that they must not disobey you in lawful matters’ (60:13) Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘lawful matters means not to tear one’s shirt, slap one’s face, crying, ‘woe is me’, must not remain behind near the grave, must not blacken clothes and must not spr

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ع يَقُولُ‌ تَدْرُونَ مَا قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى- وَ لا يَعْصِينَكَ فِي مَعْرُوفٍ‌ قُلْتُ لَا قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص قَالَ لِفَاطِمَةَ ع إِذَا أَنَا مِتُّ فَلَا تَخْمِشِي عَلَيَّ وَجْهاً[2] وَ لَا تَنْشُرِي عَلَيَّ شَعْراً[3] وَ لَا تُنَادِي بِالْوَيْلِ وَ لَا تُقِيمِي عَلَيَّ نَائِحَةً قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ هَذَا الْمَعْرُوفُ الَّذِي قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ.

“I once heard Abu Ja‘far (a.s.) say, ‘Do you know what is the meaning of the words of Allah, ‘. . . that they must not disobey you in lawful matters?’ (60:13) I replied, ‘No, I do not know.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘The Messenger of Allah (sw) once said to Fatimah (sa), ‘When I die, you must not cause abrasion to any face,

لَمَّا فَتَحَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَكَّةَ بَايَعَ الرِّجَالَ ثُمَّ جَاءَ النِّسَاءُ يُبَايِعْنَهُ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ- يا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِذا جاءَكَ الْمُؤْمِناتُ يُبايِعْنَكَ عَلى‌ أَنْ لا يُشْرِكْنَ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئاً وَ لا يَسْرِقْنَ وَ لا يَزْنِينَ وَ لا يَقْتُلْنَ أَوْلادَهُنَ‌ وَ لا يَأْتِينَ بِبُهْتانٍ يَفْتَرِينَهُ‌ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِنَّ وَ أَرْجُلِهِنَ‌ وَ لا يَعْصِينَكَ فِي مَعْرُوفٍ‌ فَبايِعْ

“When the Messenger of Allah (sw) liberated Makkah, men pledged allegiance; then women came to pledge allegiance; and Allah, most Majestic and most Glorious, said, ‘O Prophet, when believing women come to pledge allegiance with you not to call anything as partner of Allah, not to steal, not to commit fornication, not t

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص أَنْ يَدْخُلَ الرِّجَالُ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِنَّ.

“The Messenger of Allah (s.w.) prohibited men from entering the place of women without their permission.”’

- خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص يُرِيدُ فَاطِمَةَ ع وَ أَنَا مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى الْبَابِ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَيْهِ فَدَفَعَهُ‌[2] ثُمَّ قَالَ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَقَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَدْخُلُ قَالَتْ ادْخُلْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَدْخُلُ أَنَا وَ مَنْ مَعِي فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَيْسَ عَلَيَّ قِنَاعٌ فَقَالَ يَا فَاطِمَةُ خُذِي فَضْلَ مِلْحَفَتِكِ فَ

اسْتَأْذَنَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ص وَ عِنْدَهُ عَائِشَةُ وَ حَفْصَةُ فَقَالَ لَهُمَا قُومَا فَادْخُلَا الْبَيْتَ فَقَالَتَا إِنَّهُ أَعْمَى فَقَالَ إِنْ لَمْ يَرَكُمَا فَإِنَّكُمَا تَرَيَانِهِ‌[1].

He (the Messenger of Allah) asked them to go to the room and they said, ‘He is blind.’ He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘If he cannot see you, you two can see him.’”

قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع‌ لَا تَبْدَءُوا النِّسَاءَ بِالسَّلَامِ وَ لَا تَدْعُوهُنَّ إِلَى الطَّعَامِ فَإِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ص قَالَ النِّسَاءُ عَيٌّ وَ عَوْرَةٌ فَاسْتُرُوا عِيَّهُنَّ بِالسُّكُوتِ وَ اسْتُرُوا عَوْرَاتِهِنَّ بِالْبُيُوتِ‌[1].

“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ’You must not initiate Salam (the phrase of offering greeting of peace) to women and you must not invite them for food; the Holy Prophet (saww) has said, “Women are tiredness (weakness in communication) and a matter of private nature thus, you must cove

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص يُسَلِّمُ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ وَ يَرْدُدْنَ عَلَيْهِ وَ كَانَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع يُسَلِّمُ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ وَ كَانَ يَكْرَهُ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ عَلَى الشَّابَّةِ مِنْهُنَّ وَ يَقُولُ أَتَخَوَّفُ أَنْ يُعْجِبَنِي صَوْتُهَا فَيَدْخُلَ عَلَيَّ أَكْثَرُ مِمَّا طَلَبْتُ مِنَ الْأَجْرِ[3].

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah (saww) would offer Salam (the phrase of offering greeting of peace) to women and they would respond in return and ’Amir al- Mu’minin would offer Salam (the phrase of offering greeting of peace) to women but disliked to offer Salam (the phrase of offering gree

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ النِّسَاءُ عَيٌّ وَ عَوْرَةٌ فَاسْتُرُوا الْعَوْرَاتِ بِالْبُيُوتِ وَ اسْتُرُوا الْعِيَّ بِالسُّكُوتِ.

‘Women are tiredness (weakness in communication) and a matter of private nature thus, you must cover the privacy of their nature with homes and their tiredness with quietness.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ كَانَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ ع غَيُوراً وَ أَنَا أَغْيَرُ مِنْهُ وَ جَدَعَ اللَّهُ أَنْفَ مَنْ لَا يَغَارُ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ‌[5].

Ibn Mahbub has narrated from more than one person who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Ibrahim, ‘Alayhi al-Salam was vigilant and protective and I

لَا غَيْرَةَ فِي الْحَلَالِ بَعْدَ قَوْلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص لَا تُحْدِثَا شَيْئاً حَتَّى أَرْجِعَ إِلَيْكُمَا[1] فَلَمَّا أَتَاهُمَا أَدْخَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ بَيْنَهُمَا فِي الْفِرَاشِ.

“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Vigilance and protectionism is not needed against lawful matters, in the light of the words of the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, “The two of you (Ali and Fatimah, Alayhim al-Salam ,) you must not do

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ مَلْعُونٌ مَنْ نَكَحَ بَهِيمَةً.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Cursed is one who engages in sexual intercourse with animals.’”

وَجَدْنَا فِي كِتَابِ عَلِيٍّ ع قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ إِذَا كَثُرَ الزِّنَا مِنْ بَعْدِي كَثُرَ مَوْتُ الْفَجْأَةِ.

When people after me will commit fornication in increasing numbers the number of deaths suddenly will also increase.’””

اجْتَمَعَ الْحَوَارِيُّونَ إِلَى عِيسَى ع فَقَالُوا لَهُ يَا مُعَلِّمَ الْخَيْرِ أَرْشِدْنَا فَقَالَ لَهُمْ إِنَّ مُوسَى كَلِيمَ اللَّهِ ع أَمَرَكُمْ أَنْ لَا تَحْلِفُوا بِاللَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى كَاذِبِينَ وَ أَنَا آمُرُكُمْ أَنْ لَا تَحْلِفُوا بِاللَّهِ كَاذِبِينَ وَ لَا صَادِقِينَ قَالُوا يَا رُوحَ اللَّهِ زِدْنَا فَقَالَ إِنَّ مُوسَى نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ع أَمَرَكُمْ أَنْ لَا تَزْنُوا وَ أَنَا آمُرُكُمْ أَنْ لَا

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Once the disciples of Jesus gathered around him and said, “O teacher of goodness teach us guidance.” Jesus said to them, “Moses has commanded you not to falsely swear by Allah and I command you not to swear even in a truthful manner.” They said, “O Spirit of Allah, please give us more

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ص‌ فِي الزِّنَا خَمْسُ خِصَالٍ يَذْهَبُ بِمَاءِ الْوَجْهِ وَ يُورِثُ الْفَقْرَ وَ يَنْقُصُ الْعُمُرَ وَ يُسْخِطُ الرَّحْمَنَ وَ يُخَلِّدُ فِي النَّارِ نَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ النَّارِ.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from Hariz ibn ‘Abd Allah from al-Fudayl ibn Yasar who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ مَنْ جَامَعَ غُلَاماً جَاءَ جُنُباً يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لَا يُنَقِّيهِ مَاءُ الدُّنْيَا وَ غَضِبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ لَعَنَهُ وَ أَعَدَّ لَهُ‌ جَهَنَّمَ وَ ساءَتْ مَصِيراً ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ الذَّكَرَ لَيَرْكَبُ الذَّكَرَ فَيَهْتَزُّ الْعَرْشُ لِذَلِكَ وَ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيُؤْتَى فِي حَقَبِهِ فَيَحْبِسُهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى جِسْرِ جَهَنَّمَ حَتَّى يَفْرُغَ مِنْ حِسَابِ الْخَلَائِقِ ثُمَّ يُؤْمَرُ

Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘One who engages in sexual intercourse with a boy, on the Day of Judgment will rise with the filth of such act and water of the world does not clean him,

كَانَ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ مِنْ أَفْضَلِ قَوْمٍ خَلَقَهُمُ اللَّهُ فَطَلَبَهُمْ إِبْلِيسُ الطَّلَبَ الشَّدِيدَ وَ كَانَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِمْ وَ خِيَرَتِهِمْ أَنَّهُمْ إِذَا خَرَجُوا إِلَى الْعَمَلِ خَرَجُوا بِأَجْمَعِهِمْ وَ تَبْقَى النِّسَاءُ خَلْفَهُمْ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ إِبْلِيسُ يَعْتَادُهُمْ‌[2] فَكَانُوا إِذَا رَجَعُوا خَرَّبَ إِبْلِيسُ مَا يَعْمَلُونَ فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ تَعَالَوْا نَرْصُدْ هَذَا الَّذِي يُخَرِّبُ مَتَا

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘People of Lot were of the excellent people Allah had created. Iblis persuaded them very intensely. Due to their excellent manners, they would go to work together in groups and leave women behind at home. Iblis (Satan) would come to them every day and in their absence Iblis (Satan) would d

إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ بَعَثَ أَرْبَعَةَ أَمْلَاكٍ فِي إِهْلَاكِ قَوْمِ لُوطٍ- جَبْرَئِيلَ وَ مِيكَائِيلَ وَ إِسْرَافِيلَ وَ كَرُوبِيلَ فَمَرُّوا بِإِبْرَاهِيمَ ع وَ هُمْ مُعْتَمُّونَ فَسَلَّمُوا عَلَيْهِ فَلَمْ يَعْرِفْهُمْ وَ رَأَى هَيْئَةً حَسَنَةً فَقَالَ لَا يَخْدُمُ هَؤُلَاءِ إِلَّا أَنَا بِنَفْسِي وَ كَانَ صَاحِبَ ضِيَافَةٍ فَشَوَى لَهُمْ عِجْلًا سَمِيناً حَتَّى أَنْضَجَهُ ثُمَّ قَرَّبَهُ إِلَيْهِمْ فَلَ

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from ibn Faddal from Dawud ibn Farqad from Abu Yazid al- Hammar who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, sent four angels for the destruction of the people of Lot: Jibril, Michael, I

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ إِيَّاكُمْ وَ أَوْلَادَ الْأَغْنِيَاءِ وَ الْمُلُوكِ الْمُرْدَ فَإِنَّ فِتْنَتَهُمْ أَشَدُّ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْعَذَارَى فِي خُدُورِهِنَّ.

‘You must remain on your guard against the children of the affluent people and the tyrant kings because their mischief is more intense than the mischief of the virgins in their private chambers.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ مَنْ قَبَّلَ غُلَاماً مِنْ شَهْوَةٍ أَلْجَمَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِلِجَامٍ مِنْ نَارٍ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘One who kisses a boy with lust, Allah on the Day of Judgment will harness him with a harness of fire.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ مَنْ أَمْكَنَ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ طَائِعاً يُلْعَبُ بِهِ أَلْقَى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ شَهْوَةَ النِّسَاءِ.

"The Messenger of Allah (sw) said, ‘One who allows sexual intercourse in his anus voluntarily and playfully, Allah throws lust of woman on him.‘"

لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص الْمُتَشَبِّهِينَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ بِالنِّسَاءِ وَ الْمُتَشَبِّهَاتِ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ بِالرِّجَالِ قَالَ وَ هُمُ الْمُخَنَّثُونَ وَ اللَّاتِي يَنْكِحْنَ بَعْضُهُنَّ بَعْضاً.

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى أَبِي فَقَالَ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ إِنِّي ابْتُلِيتُ بِبَلَاءٍ فَادْعُ اللَّهَ لِي فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّهُ يُؤْتَى فِي دُبُرِهِ فَقَالَ مَا أَبْلَى اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ بِهَذَا الْبَلَاءِ أَحَداً لَهُ فِيهِ حَاجَةٌ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَبِي قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ عِزَّتِي وَ جَلَالِي لَا يَقْعُدُ عَلَى إِسْتَبْرَقِهَا وَ حَرِيرِهَا مَنْ يُؤْتَى فِي دُبُرِهِ.

سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَوْ أَبَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ ع- عَنِ الْمَرْأَةِ تُسَاحِقُ الْمَرْأَةَ وَ كَانَ مُتَّكِئاً فَجَلَسَ فَقَالَ مَلْعُونَةٌ الرَّاكِبَةُ وَ الْمَرْكُوبَةُ وَ مَلْعُونَةٌ حَتَّى تَخْرُجَ مِنْ أَثْوَابِهَا الرَّاكِبَةُ وَ الْمَرْكُوبَةُ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى وَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ وَ أَوْلِيَاءَهُ يَلْعَنُونَهُمَا وَ أَنَا وَ مَنْ بَقِيَ فِي أَصْلَابِ الرِّجَالِ وَ أَرْحَامِ النِّسَ

لَمَّا أَقَامَ الْعَالِمُ الْجِدَارَ أَوْحَى اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى إِلَى مُوسَى ع أَنِّي مُجَازِي الْأَبْنَاءِ بِسَعْيِ الْآبَاءِ إِنْ خَيْراً فَخَيْرٌ وَ إِنْ شَرّاً فَشَرٌّ لَا تَزْنُوا فَتَزْنِيَ نِسَاؤُكُمْ وَ مَنْ وَطِئَ فِرَاشَ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ وُطِئَ فِرَاشُهُ كَمَا تَدِينُ تُدَانُ‌[1].

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ تَزَوَّجُوا إِلَى آلِ فُلَانٍ فَإِنَّهُمْ عَفُّوا فَعَفَّتْ نِسَاؤُهُمْ وَ لَا تَزَوَّجُوا إِلَى آلِ فُلَانٍ فَإِنَّهُمْ بَغَوْا فَبَغَتْ نِسَاؤُهُمْ وَ قَالَ مَكْتُوبٌ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ أَنَا اللَّهُ قَاتِلُ الْقَاتِلِينَ وَ مُفْقِرُ الزَّانِينَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ لَا تَزْنُوا فَتَزْنِيَ نِسَاؤُكُمْ كَمَا تَدِينُ تُدَانُ.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْعَفَافِ وَ تَرْكِ الْفُجُورِ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘You must maintain chastity and you must stay away from sinful deeds.”’

جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ سَائِلَةٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص وَالِدَاتٌ وَالِهَاتٌ رَحِيمَاتٌ بِأَوْلَادِهِنَّ لَوْ لَا مَا يَأْتِينَ إِلَى أَزْوَاجِهِنَّ لَقِيلَ لَهُنَّ ادْخُلْنَ الْجَنَّةَ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ.

“Once a woman came to the Messenger of Allah (saww) to ask a question and the Messenger of Allah said, ‘Child bearing, compassionate and kind to their children, had they not brought anyone (in the bed of their husband), it would have been said to them, ‘Enter in paradise without any questions being asked.’”

كَانَ مَلِكٌ فِي بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَ كَانَ لَهُ قَاضٍ وَ لِلْقَاضِي أَخٌ وَ كَانَ رَجُلَ صِدْقٍ وَ لَهُ امْرَأَةٌ قَدْ وَلَدَتْهَا الْأَنْبِيَاءُ فَأَرَادَ الْمَلِكُ أَنْ يَبْعَثَ رَجُلًا فِي حَاجَةٍ فَقَالَ لِلْقَاضِي ابْغِنِي رَجُلًا ثِقَةً فَقَالَ مَا أَعْلَمُ أَحَداً أَوْثَقَ مِنْ أَخِي فَدَعَاهُ لِيَبْعَثَهُ فَكَرِهَ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ وَ قَالَ لِأَخِيهِ إِنِّي أَكْرَهُ أَنْ أُضَيِّعَ امْرَأَتِي فَعَزَمَ عَلَيْه

كَانَ رَجُلٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَ كَانَ لَهُ جَارِيَةٌ نَفِيسَةٌ فَوَقَعَتْ فِي قَلْبِ رَجُلٍ وَ أُعْجِبَ بِهَا فَشَكَا ذَلِكَ إِلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ تَعَرَّضْ لِرُؤْيَتِهَا وَ كُلَّمَا رَأَيْتَهَا فَقُلْ أَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ‌ فَفَعَلَ فَمَا لَبِثَ إِلَّا يَسِيراً حَتَّى عَرَضَ لِوَلِيِّهَا سَفَرٌ فَجَاءَ إِلَى الرَّجُلِ فَقَالَ يَا فُلَانُ أَنْتَ جَارِي وَ أَوْثَقُ النَّاسِ عِنْدِي وَ قَدْ عَرَضَ
