“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘Why is it that we prepare good food and make it unique but we do not find the fragrance like that of the food for wedding in it?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is because in the food for wedding, air from paradise blows; it is a food that is prepared for a lawful matter (marriage).’ ”

In his home there were pleasing spreading and cushions. He (the Imam) (a.s.), said, ‘We marry women and give them their mahr (dower). They buy whatever they want and we do not have anything to say about it.’”

“Once abu ‘Alqamah, al-Harith ibn al-Mughirah, abu Hassan and I were with abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), and ‘Alqamah had applied hair dye with henna, al-Harith had applied hair dye with woad and abu Hassan would not apply hair dye.
