Supplication

إِذَا كَانَ النِّصْفُ مِنْ شَعْبَانَ فَصَلِّ أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ تَقْرَأُ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ الْحَمْدَ وَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَقُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي إِلَيْكَ فَقِيرٌ وَ إِنِّي عَائِذٌ بِكَ وَ مِنْكَ خَائِفٌ وَ بِكَ مُسْتَجِيرٌ رَبِّ لَا تُبَدِّلِ اسْمِي رَبِّ لَا تُغَيِّرْ جِسْمِي رَبِّ لَا تُجْهِدْ بَلَائِي أَعُوذُ بِعَفْوِكَ مِنْ عِقَابِكَ وَ أَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ وَ

“Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that on the night of the middle of the month of Sha’ban perform four Rak‘at Salah (prayer). In every Rak‘at read al-Fatihah and Chapter 112 one hundred times. After completing say, ‘O Lord, I am needy to You. I seek protection with You and I am afraid of Your (anger). I plead before You

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ص فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي ذُو عِيَالٍ وَ عَلَيَّ دَيْنٌ وَ قَدِ اشْتَدَّتْ حَالِي فَعَلِّمْنِي دُعَاءً إِذَا دَعَوْتُ بِهِ رَزَقَنِيَ اللَّهُ مَا أَقْضِي بِهِ دَيْنِي وَ أَسْتَعِينُ بِهِ عَلَى عِيَالِي فَقَالَ يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ تَوَضَّأْ وَ أَسْبِغْ وُضُوءَكَ ثُمَّ صَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ تُتِمُّ الرُّكُوعَ وَ السُّجُودَ فِيهِمَا ثُمَّ قُلْ يَا مَاجِدُ يَا وَاحِدُ يَا كَرِيمُ أَتَ

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع فَقُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ إِنِّي اخْتَرَعْتُ دُعَاءً قَالَ دَعْنِي مِنِ اخْتِرَاعِكَ إِذَا نَزَلَ بِكَ أَمْرٌ فَافْزَعْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص وَ صَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ تُهْدِيهِمَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص قُلْتُ كَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ قَالَ تَغْتَسِلُ وَ تُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ تَسْتَفْتِحُ بِهِمَا افْتِتَاحَ الْفَرِيضَةِ وَ تَشَهَّدُ تَشَهُّدَ الْفَرِيضَةِ فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ مِنَ التَّشَهُّد

قُلْتُ لِلرِّضَا ع جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ عَلِّمْنِي دُعَاءً لِقَضَاءِ الْحَوَائِجِ فَقَالَ إِذَا كَانَتْ لَكَ حَاجَةٌ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ مُهِمَّةٌ فَاغْتَسِلْ وَ الْبَسْ أَنْظَفَ ثِيَابِكَ وَ شَمَّ شَيْئاً مِنَ الطِّيبِ ثُمَّ ابْرُزْ تَحْتَ السَّمَاءِ فَصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ تَفْتَتِحُ الصَّلَاةَ فَتَقْرَأُ فَاتِحَةَ الْكِتَابِ وَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ مَرَّةً ثُمَّ تَرْكَعُ فَتَقْرَأُ خَمْسَ عَش

“I said to al-Rida (a.s.), ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, teach me a prayer for help in my needs.’ The Imam said, ‘When you need something and want Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious, to help you, take a bath and dress up in your cleanest dress, use perfume, go under the open sky a

مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يُحْبَلَ لَهُ فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ يُطِيلُ فِيهِمَا الرُّكُوعَ وَ السُّجُودَ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِمَا سَأَلَكَ بِهِ زَكَرِيَّا إِذْ قَالَ‌ رَبِّ لا تَذَرْنِي فَرْداً وَ أَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْوارِثِينَ‌ اللَّهُمَّ هَبْ لِي‌ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ الدُّعاءِ اللَّهُمَّ بِاسْمِكَ اسْتَحْلَلْتُهَا وَ فِي أَمَانَتِكَ أَخَذْتُهَا[2] فَإِنْ قَضَيْتَ فِ

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ‘If one wants that his wife become pregnant, he should perform two Rak‘at Salah (prayer) after Friday Salah (prayer). In this Salah (prayer) he should prolong his Ruku‘ and sajdah and then say, “O Allah, I ask You just what Zachariah asked You for, O my Lord, (rabbi) do not leave me lonely

سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ‌ يُسْتَحَبُّ لِلْمَرِيضِ أَنْ يُعْطِيَ السَّائِلَ بِيَدِهِ وَ يَأْمُرَ السَّائِلَ أَنْ يَدْعُوَ لَهُ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that it is preferable for a person suffering from illness to give charity with his own hand to one who asks for charity, then ask him to pray for him.”

إِذَا أَعْطَيْتُمُوهُمْ فَلَقِّنُوهُمُ الدُّعَاءَ فَإِنَّهُ يُسْتَجَابُ الدُّعَاءُ لَهُمْ فِيكُمْ وَ لَا يُسْتَجَابُ لَهُمْ فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ.

“He (the Imam) has said, ‘When you give charity, ask them to pray; their prayer for you is answered, but it is not heard for themselves.”’

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص يُقْبِلُ بِوَجْهِهِ إِلَى النَّاسِ فَيَقُولُ يَا مَعْشَرَ النَّاسِ إِذَا طَلَعَ هِلَالُ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ غُلَّتْ مَرَدَةُ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَ فُتِحَتْ أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ وَ أَبْوَابُ الْجِنَانِ وَ أَبْوَابُ الرَّحْمَةِ وَ غُلِّقَتْ أَبْوَابُ النَّارِ وَ اسْتُجِيبَ الدُّعَاءُ وَ كَانَ لِلَّهِ فِيهِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ فِطْرٍ عُتَقَاءُ يُعْتِقُهُمُ اللَّهُ مِنَ النَّارِ وَ يُنَادِي مُنَادٍ كُلَّ لَيْلَة

The Messenger of Allah (sw) used to turn his face to the people and say, "O people, when the crescent of the month of Ramadan appears, the rebellious devils are chained; the gates of the sky, the gates of Paradise, and the gates of mercy are opened; the gates of Hell are closed; and prayers are answered. ادْعُ بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ مُسْتَقْبِلَ دُخُولِ السَّنَةِ[1]- وَ ذَكَرَ أَنَّهُ مَنْ دَعَا بِهِ مُحْتَسِباً مُخْلِصاً لَمْ تُصِبْهُ فِي تِلْكَ السَّنَةِ فِتْنَةٌ وَ لَا آفَةٌ يُضَرُّ بِهَا دِينُهُ وَ بَدَنُهُ وَ وَقَاهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ ذِكْرُهُ شَرَّ مَا يَأْتِي بِهِ تِلْكَ السَّنَةَ- اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِي دَانَ لَهُ كُلُّ شَيْ‌ءٍ وَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ الَّتِي‌ وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَيْ‌

Whoever says this prayer, expecting reward for it (from Allah), and with sincerity, no illness or cr

كَانَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَدْعُو بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ- اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي بِكَ أَتَوَسَّلُ وَ مِنْكَ أَطْلُبُ حَاجَتِي مَنْ طَلَبَ حَاجَةً إِلَى النَّاسِ فَإِنِّي لَا أَطْلُبُ حَاجَتِي إِلَّا مِنْكَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ وَ أَسْأَلُكَ بِفَضْلِكَ وَ رِضْوَانِكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ وَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ لِي فِي عَامِي هَذَا إِلَى بَيْتِكَ الْحَرَامِ سَبِيلًا حَجّ

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), would say this prayer during the month of Ramadan, ‘O Allah, I seek help from You and ask You for my needs. There are those who ask people for their needs, but I ask only You for my needs. You are (the only Lord). You have no partners. I ask You through Your generosity and Your pleasure to grant

أَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ الْحُسَيْنِ ع كَانَ يَدْعُو بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ- اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ هَذَا شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ وَ هَذَا شَهْرُ الصِّيَامِ وَ هَذَا شَهْرُ الْإِنَابَةِ وَ هَذَا شَهْرُ التَّوْبَةِ وَ هَذَا شَهْرُ الْمَغْفِرَةِ وَ الرَّحْمَةِ وَ هَذَا شَهْرُ الْعِتْقِ مِنَ النَّارِ وَ الْفَوْزِ بِالْجَنَّةِ اللَّهُمَّ فَسَلِّمْهُ لِي وَ تَسَلَّمْهُ مِنِّي وَ أَعِنِّي عَلَيْهِ بِأَفْضَل

Ahmad ibn Muhammad has narrated from Ali ibn al-Husayn from Ja’far ibn Muhammad from Afi ibn Asbat from ‘Abd af-Rahman ibn Bashir from certain individuais of his people who has said the following: “Ali ibn al-Husayn, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, would say this prayer every day during the month of Ramadan, ‘O Allah, this is the

قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ص‌ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ بِكَثْرَةِ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ وَ الدُّعَاءِ فَأَمَّا الدُّعَاءُ فَيُدْفَعُ بِهِ عَنْكُمُ الْبَلَاءُ وَ أَمَّا الِاسْتِغْفَارُ فَيَمْحَى ذُنُوبَكُمْ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.), has said, ‘In the month of Ramadan you should increase asking forgiveness from Allah and offering prayer before Him. Prayers repel misfortunes, and asking forgiveness deletes your sins.’”

أَ مَا أَصُومُهُ الْيَوْمَ‌[3] وَ هُوَ يَوْمُ دُعَاءٍ وَ مَسْأَلَةٍ.

“I once asked one of the two Imam, (abu Ja’far or abu ‘Abd Allah), ‘Alayhim al-Salam, about fasting on the ninth of Dhul Hajjah (day of ‘Arafah). He (the Imam) said, ‘I do not fast that day. It is the day of imploring and pleading before Allah.”’

كَانَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع إِذَا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةُ إِحْدَى وَ عِشْرِينَ وَ لَيْلَةُ ثَلَاثٍ وَ عِشْرِينَ أَخَذَ فِي الدُّعَاءِ حَتَّى يَزُولَ اللَّيْلُ فَإِذَا زَالَ اللَّيْلُ صَلَّى.

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.), during the twenty-first and twenty-third nights, would pray until the end of the night, then perform (the obligatory) salat (prayer).”

تَقُولُ فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فِي كُلِّ لَيْلَةٍ- أَعُوذُ بِجَلَالِ وَجْهِكَ الْكَرِيمِ أَنْ يَنْقَضِيَ عَنِّي شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ أَوْ يَطْلُعَ الْفَجْرُ مِنْ لَيْلَتِي هَذِهِ وَ لَكَ قِبَلِي ذَنْبٌ أَوْ تَبِعَةٌ تُعَذِّبُنِي عَلَيْهِ.

“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that during the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan, you should say the following prayer. ‘O Allah, I seek refuge with the glory of Your honorable face against the condition in which the month of Ramadan will pass or this night will dawn while I may have committed sins or such deed

أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ وَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ اسْمِي فِي هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ فِي السُّعَدَاءِ- وَ رُوحِي مَعَ الشُّهَدَاءِ وَ إِحْسَانِي فِي عِلِّيِّينَ وَ إِسَاءَتِي مَغْفُورَةً وَ أَنْ تَهَبَ لِي يَقِيناً تُبَاشِرُ بِهِ قَلْبِي وَ إِيمَاناً يَذْهَبُ بِالشَّكِّ عَنِّي وَ تُرْضِيَنِي بِمَا قَسَمْتَ لِي وَ آتِنا فِي الدُّنْيا حَسَنَةً وَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَ قِنَا عَذَابَ الْحَرِيقِ وَ

Ahmad ibn Muhammad has narrated from Ali ibn al-Husayn from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Ayyub ibn Yaqtin or others from ’A’immah, recipients of divine supreme covenant, who have said the following: “During the first night of the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan, recite this prayer. ‘O the One, (You have the power)

فِي الدُّعَاءِ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فِي كُلِّ لَيْلَةٍ تَقُولُ- اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ فِيمَا تَقْضِي وَ تُقَدِّرُ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ الْمَحْتُومِ فِي الْأَمْرِ الْحَكِيمِ مِنَ الْقَضَاءِ الَّذِي لَا يُرَدُّ وَ لَا يُبَدَّلُ أَنْ تَكْتُبَنِي مِنْ حُجَّاجِ بَيْتِكَ الْحَرَامِ الْمَبْرُورِ حَجُّهُمْ الْمُكَفَّرِ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّئَاتُهُمْ الْمَغْفُورِ ذُنُوبُهُمْ الْمَشْكُورِ سَعْيُهُمْ وَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ فِي مَا تَقْضِي

‘O Allah, I appeal before You in the case of whatever You decide and measure of the inevitable issues of the matters of wisdom, of the destiny that does not change or alter, to list my name among those who perform Hajj of Your respected House, with virtuous Hajj, expatiated wickedness, forgiven sins and appreciated eff

تُكَرِّرُ فِي لَيْلَةِ ثَلَاثٍ وَ عِشْرِينَ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ هَذَا الدُّعَاءَ سَاجِداً وَ قَائِماً وَ قَاعِداً وَ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ وَ فِي الشَّهْرِ كُلِّهِ وَ كَيْفَ أَمْكَنَكَ وَ مَتَى حَضَرَكَ مِنْ دَهْرِكَ تَقُولُ بَعْدَ تَحْمِيدِ اللَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى وَ الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ص- اللَّهُمَّ كُنْ لِوَلِيِّكَ فُلَانِ بْنِ فُلَانٍ فِي هَذِهِ السَّاعَةِ وَ فِي كُلِّ سَاعَةٍ وَلِيّاً وَ حَافِظاً وَ

Muhammad ibn ‘Isa has narrated through the chain of his narrators who has narrated the following:: “The virtuous ones, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, have said the following that you should repeat this prayer during the twenty-third night of the month of Ramadan, while in prostration, standing, sitting and in all conditions and

إِذَا كَانَتْ آخِرُ لَيْلَةٍ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فَقُلِ اللَّهُمَّ هَذَا شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلْتَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنَ وَ قَدْ تَصَرَّمَ‌[1] وَ أَعُوذُ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَرِيمِ يَا رَبِّ أَنْ يَطْلُعَ الْفَجْرُ مِنْ لَيْلَتِي هَذِهِ أَوْ يَتَصَرَّمَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ وَ لَكَ قِبَلِي تَبِعَةٌ أَوْ ذَنْبٌ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تُعَذِّبَنِي بِهِ يَوْمَ أَلْقَاكَ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that during the last night of the month of Ramadan, say this prayer. ‘O Allah, this is the month of Ramadan when You revealed the Holy Quran, and now it has ended. I seek refuge with Your honorable face, against my remaining in a condition, O Lord, that this night ends up with dawn or t

فِي وَدَاعِ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ- اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ قُلْتَ فِي كِتَابِكَ الْمُنْزَلِ- شَهْرُ رَمَضانَ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ‌ وَ هَذَا شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ وَ قَدْ تَصَرَّمَ فَأَسْأَلُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَرِيمِ وَ كَلِمَاتِكَ التَّامَّةِ إِنْ كَانَ بَقِيَ عَلَيَّ ذَنْبٌ لَمْ تَغْفِرْهُ لِي أَوْ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تُعَذِّبَنِي عَلَيْهِ أَوْ تُقَايِسَنِي بِهِ أَنْ يَطْلُعَ‌[2] فَجْرُ هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ أَوْ يَتَصَرَّمَ هَذ

قَالَ لِبَعْضِ مَوَالِيهِ يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ وَ هُوَ يَدْعُو لَهُ يَا فُلَانُ- تَقَبَّلَ اللَّهُ مِنْكَ وَ مِنَّا ثُمَّ أَقَامَ حَتَّى كَانَ يَوْمُ الْأَضْحَى فَقَالَ لَهُ يَا فُلَانُ تَقَبَّلَ اللَّهُ مِنَّا وَ مِنْكَ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ قُلْتَ فِي الْفِطْرِ شَيْئاً وَ تَقُولُ فِي الْأَضْحَى غَيْرَهُ قَالَ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ إِنِّي قُلْتُ لَهُ فِي الْفِطْرِ- تَقَبَّلَ اللَّهُ مِنْكَ وَ مِنَّا لِأ

“Once al-Rida (a.s.), on the day of al-Fitr said to a certain individual of his servants, while praying for him. ‘O so and so, (I pray) may Allah accept from you and from us.’ Then it was the day of al-Adha’ and he (the Imam) said to him, ‘O so and so, may Allah accept from us and from you.’ I (the narrator) then asked

إِنَّ دَاوُدَ لَمَّا وَقَفَ الْمَوْقِفَ بِعَرَفَةَ نَظَرَ إِلَى النَّاسِ وَ كَثْرَتِهِمْ فَصَعِدَ الْجَبَلَ فَأَقْبَلَ يَدْعُو فَلَمَّا قَضَى نُسُكَهُ أَتَاهُ جَبْرَئِيلُ ع فَقَالَ لَهُ يَا دَاوُدُ يَقُولُ لَكَ رَبُّكَ لِمَ صَعِدْتَ الْجَبَلَ ظَنَنْتَ أَنَّهُ يَخْفَى عَلَيَّ صَوْتُ مَنْ صَوَّتَ ثُمَّ مَضَى بِهِ إِلَى الْبَحْرِ إِلَى جُدَّةَ فَرَسَبَ بِهِ فِي الْمَاءِ مَسِيرَةَ أَرْبَعِينَ صَبَاحاً فِي الْبَرِّ فَإِذَ

إِذَا خَرَجْتَ مِنْ بَيْتِكَ تُرِيدُ الْحَجَّ وَ الْعُمْرَةَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ فَادْعُ دُعَاءَ الْفَرَجِ وَ هُوَ- لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَ رَبِّ الْأَرَضِينَ السَّبْعِ وَ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ‌ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعالَمِينَ* ثُمَّ قُلْ اللَّهُمَّ كُنْ لِي جَاراً مِنْ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ

طُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ سَبْعَةَ أَشْوَاطٍ وَ تَقُولُ فِي الطَّوَافِ- اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِي يُمْشَى بِهِ عَلَى طَلَلِ الْمَاءِ كَمَا يُمْشَى بِهِ عَلَى جَدَدِ الْأَرْضِ‌[4] وَ أَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِي يَهْتَزُّ لَهُ عَرْشُكَ وَ أَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِي تَهْتَزُّ لَهُ أَقْدَامُ مَلَائِكَتِكَ وَ أَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِي دَعَاكَ بِهِ مُوسَى مِنْ جَانِبِ الطُّورِ فَاسْتَجَبْتَ لَهُ وَ أَلْقَ

“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that one must walk seven times around the Ka'bah. During Tawaf, one should say, ‘O Allah, I appeal before You through Your name by which one walks on water just as one walks on hard land. I appeal before You through Your name for which Your Throne vibrates. I appeal before You through

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع دَخَلْتُ طَوَافَ الْفَرِيضَةِ فَلَمْ يُفْتَحْ لِي شَيْ‌ءٌ مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ إِلَّا الصَّلَاةُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ سَعَيْتُ فَكَانَ كَذَلِكَ فَقَالَ مَا أُعْطِيَ أَحَدٌ مِمَّنْ سَأَلَ أَفْضَلَ مِمَّا أُعْطِيتَ.

“I once said to Abu `Abdillah (a.s.), 'I began my obligatory Tawaf but did not know any prayer to say except the prayers upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad. During Sa'y I also said that.' He (the Imam) said, 'No one among those who ask is given what you have been given.’”

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ‌ إِنَّ مَلَكاً مُوَكَّلًا بِالرُّكْنِ الْيَمَانِيِّ مُنْذُ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْأَرَضِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُ هِجِّيرٌ إِلَّا التَّأْمِينَ عَلَى دُعَائِكُمْ فَلْيَنْظُرْ عَبْدٌ بِمَا يَدْعُو فَقُلْتُ لَهُ مَا الْهِجِّيرُ فَقَالَ كَلَامٌ مِنْ كَلَامِ الْعَرَبِ أَيْ لَيْسَ لَهُ عَمَلٌ وَ فِي رِوَايَةٍ أُخْرَى لَيْسَ لَهُ عَمَلٌ غَيْرُ ذَلِكَ.

This angel has no Hijjir except saying, ‘Amen’ for your prayers, so a servant of Allah should consider what to appeal for in his prayer.’ I (the narrator) then asked, ‘What

كُنْتُ أَطُوفُ مَعَهُ بِالْبَيْتِ فَقَالَ أَيُّ هَذَا أَعْظَمُ حُرْمَةً فَقُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهَذَا مِنِّي فَأَعَادَ عَلَيَّ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ دَاخِلُ الْبَيْتِ فَقَالَ- الرُّكْنُ الْيَمَانِيُّ عَلَى بَابٍ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ مَفْتُوحٌ لِشِيعَةِ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ مَسْدُودٌ عَنْ غَيْرِهِمْ وَ مَا مِنْ مُؤْمِنٍ يَدْعُو بِدُعَاءٍ عِنْدَهُ إِلَّا صَعِدَ دُعَاؤُهُ حَتَّى يَلْصَقَ بِالْعَرْشِ مَا بَيْنَ

قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‌ إِذَا فَرَغْتَ مِنْ طَوَافِكَ وَ بَلَغْتَ مُؤَخَّرَ الْكَعْبَةِ وَ هُوَ بِحِذَاءِ الْمُسْتَجَارِ دُونَ الرُّكْنِ الْيَمَانِيِّ بِقَلِيلٍ فَابْسُطْ يَدَيْكَ عَلَى الْبَيْتِ وَ أَلْصِقْ بَطْنَكَ‌[1] وَ خَدَّكَ بِالْبَيْتِ وَ قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ الْبَيْتُ بَيْتُكَ وَ الْعَبْدُ عَبْدُكَ وَ هَذَا مَكَانُ الْعَائِذِ بِكَ مِنَ النَّارِ ثُمَّ أَقِرَّ لِرَبِّكَ بِمَا عَمِلْتَ فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ عَ

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع هَلْ مِنْ دُعَاءٍ مُوَقَّتٍ أَقُولُهُ عَلَى الصَّفَا وَ الْمَرْوَةِ فَقَالَ تَقُولُ إِذَا وَقَفْتَ عَلَى الصَّفَا- لا إِلهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ‌ وَحْدَهُ‌ لا شَرِيكَ لَهُ‌ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَ لَهُ الْحَمْدُ يُحْيِي وَ يُمِيتُ وَ هُوَ عَلى‌ كُلِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ قَدِيرٌ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ

“No one other than Allah, who is One and has no partners, deserves worship. To Him belong the kingdom and all praise. He gives life and causes things to die and has power over all things - three times.’””

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ إِنَّ امْرَأَةً مُسْلِمَةً صَحِبَتْنِي حَتَّى انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى بُسْتَانِ بَنِي عَامِرٍ فَحَرُمَتْ عَلَيْهَا الصَّلَاةُ فَدَخَلَهَا مِنْ ذَاكَ أَمْرٌ عَظِيمٌ فَخَافَتْ أَنْ تَذْهَبَ مُتْعَتُهَا فَأَمَرَتْنِي أَنْ أَذْكُرَ ذَلِكَ لَكَ وَ أَسْأَلَكَ كَيْفَ تَصْنَعُ فَقَالَ قُلْ لَهَا فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ نِصْفَ النَّهَارِ وَ تَلْبَسُ ثِيَاباً نِظَافاً وَ تَجْلِسُ فِي مَكَانٍ ن

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ إِنَّا كُنَّا نَحُجُّ مُشَاةً فَبَلَغَنَا عَنْكَ شَيْ‌ءٌ فَمَا تَرَى قَالَ إِنَّ النَّاسَ لَيَحُجُّونَ مُشَاةً وَ يَرْكَبُونَ قُلْتُ لَيْسَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ أَسْأَلُكَ قَالَ فَعَنْ أَيِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ سَأَلْتَ قُلْتُ أَيُّهُمَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ أَنْ نَصْنَعَ قَالَ تَرْكَبُونَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ أَقْوَى لَكُمْ عَلَى الدُّعَاءِ وَ الْعِبَادَةِ.

إِذَا غَدَوْتَ إِلَى عَرَفَةَ فَقُلْ وَ أَنْتَ مُتَوَجِّهٌ إِلَيْهَا- اللَّهُمَّ إِلَيْكَ صَمَدْتُ وَ إِيَّاكَ اعْتَمَدْتُ وَ وَجْهَكَ أَرَدْتُ فَأَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تُبَارِكَ لِي فِي رِحْلَتِي وَ أَنْ تَقْضِيَ لِي حَاجَتِي وَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَنِي الْيَوْمَ مِمَّنْ تُبَاهِي‌ بِهِ مَنْ هُوَ أَفْضَلُ مِنِّي ثُمَّ تُلَبِّ وَ أَنْتَ غَادٍ إِلَى عَرَفَاتٍ فَإِذَا انْتَهَيْتَ إِلَى عَرَفَاتٍ فَاضْرِبْ خِبَاءَكَ بِنَمِرَةَ وَ نَمِر

قِفْ فِي مَيْسَرَةِ الْجَبَلِ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص وَقَفَ بِعَرَفَاتٍ فِي مَيْسَرَةِ الْجَبَلِ فَلَمَّا وَقَفَ جَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَبْتَدِرُونَ أَخْفَافَ نَاقَتِهِ فَيَقِفُونَ إِلَى جَانِبِهِ فَنَحَّاهَا فَفَعَلُوا مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مَوْضِعُ أَخْفَافِ نَاقَتِي الْمَوْقِفَ وَ لَكِنْ هَذَا كُلُّهُ مَوْقِفٌ‌[2] وَ أَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى الْمَوْقِفِ وَ فَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ فِي الْمُ

كُنْتُ فِي الْمَوْقِفِ فَلَمَّا أَفَضْتُ لَقِيتُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنَ شُعَيْبٍ فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ وَ كَانَ مُصَاباً بِإِحْدَى عَيْنَيْهِ وَ إِذَا عَيْنُهُ الصَّحِيحَةُ حَمْرَاءُ كَأَنَّهَا عَلَقَةُ دَمٍ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ قَدْ أُصِبْتَ بِإِحْدَى عَيْنَيْكَ وَ أَنَا وَ اللَّهِ مُشْفِقٌ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى فَلَوْ قَصَرْتَ مِنَ الْبُكَاءِ قَلِيلًا فَقَالَ وَ اللَّهِ يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ مَا دَعَوْتُ لِنَفْسِيَ الْيَوْمَ بِدَعْوَة

“I was in al-Mawqaf (‘Arafat). When I left for al-Muzdalifah I met Ibrahim ibn Shu‘ayb. I offered him greeting of peace. He had trouble in one of his eyes and I found his trouble-free eye had turned red like a piece of blood clot. I said to him, ‘One of your eyes is damaged and I am afraid for your other eye. قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ إِنَّ صَاحِبَيَّ هَذَيْنِ جَهِلَا أَنْ يَقِفَا بِالْمُزْدَلِفَةِ فَقَالَ يَرْجِعَانِ مَكَانَهُمَا فَيَقِفَانِ بِالْمَشْعَرِ سَاعَةً قُلْتُ فَإِنَّهُ لَمْ يُخْبِرْهُمَا أَحَدٌ حَتَّى كَانَ الْيَوْمُ وَ قَدْ نَفَرَ النَّاسُ قَالَ فَنَكَسَ رَأْسَهُ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ أَ لَيْسَا قَدْ صَلَّيَا الْغَدَاةَ بِالْمُزْدَلِفَةِ قُلْتُ بَلَى فَقَالَ أَ لَيْسَا قَدْ قَنَتَا فِي صَ

He (the Imam) said, ‘They must go back to stay in al-Mash‘ar for an hour . 5 I then said that no one told them about it until today and people hav

كُنَّا عِنْدَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع فَقَالَ أَكْثِرُوا مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ وَ الدُّعَاءِ فِي هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ أَمَا إِنَّ لِكُلِّ عَبْدٍ رِزْقاً يُجَازُ إِلَيْهِ جَوْزاً[1].

“Once we were with abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), and he said, ‘You must say a great deal of Salat (prayer) and supplications in this Masjid. There is no doubt that for every servant (of Allah) there is a certain share of sustenance that is passed to him undeniably.’”

أَفِضْ عَلَيْكَ دَلْواً مِنْ مَاءِ زَمْزَمَ ثُمَّ ادْخُلِ الْبَيْتَ فَإِذَا قُمْتَ عَلَى بَابِ الْبَيْتِ فَخُذْ بِحَلْقَةِ الْبَابِ ثُمَّ قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ الْبَيْتَ بَيْتُكَ وَ الْعَبْدَ عَبْدُكَ وَ قَدْ قُلْتَ‌ وَ مَنْ دَخَلَهُ كانَ آمِناً فَآمِنِّي مِنْ عَذَابِكَ وَ أَجِرْنِي مِنْ سَخَطِكَ ثُمَّ ادْخُلِ الْبَيْتَ فَصَلِّ عَلَى الرُّخَامَةِ الْحَمْرَاءِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قُمْ إِلَى الْأُسْطُوَانَةِ الَّتِي بِح

“Pour on yourself a bucket of water from Zamzam, then enter the House. When you are at the door of the House, hold to the ring of the door and say, “O Allah, the House is Your house, the servant is Your servant and You have said, ‘Whoever enters it is safe/ so grant me immunity against Your torment and grant me refuge

إِذَا أَرَدْتَ أَنْ تَخْرُجَ مِنْ مَكَّةَ وَ تَأْتِيَ أَهْلَكَ فَوَدِّعِ الْبَيْتَ وَ طُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ أُسْبُوعاً وَ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَسْتَلِمَ الْحَجَرَ الْأَسْوَدَ وَ الرُّكْنَ الْيَمَانِيَّ فِي كُلِّ شَوْطٍ فَافْعَلْ وَ إِلَّا فَافْتَتِحْ بِهِ وَ اخْتِمْ بِهِ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَسْتَطِعْ ذَلِكَ فَمُوَسَّعٌ عَلَيْكَ ثُمَّ تَأْتِي الْمُسْتَجَارَ فَتَصْنَعُ عِنْدَهُ كَمَا صَنَعْتَ يَوْمَ‌ قَدِمْتَ مَكَّةَ وَ تَخَيَّر

رَأَيْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ الثَّانِيَ ع فِي سَنَةِ خَمْسٍ وَ عِشْرِينَ وَ مِائَتَيْنِ وَدَّعَ الْبَيْتَ‌[1] بَعْدَ ارْتِفَاعِ الشَّمْسِ وَ طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ يَسْتَلِمُ الرُّكْنَ الْيَمَانِيَّ فِي كُلِّ شَوْطٍ فَلَمَّا كَانَ فِي الشَّوْطِ السَّابِعِ اسْتَلَمَهُ وَ اسْتَلَمَ الْحَجَرَ وَ مَسَحَ بِيَدِهِ ثُمَّ مَسَحَ وَجْهَهُ بِيَدِهِ ثُمَّ أَتَى الْمَقَامَ فَصَلَّى خَلْفَهُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَى دُبُرِ الْكَعْبَ

“I saw Abu Ja`far, the second ‘Alayhi al-Salam, in the year 225 Hijriy, say farewell to the House after sunrise. He performed Tawaf around the House, touched al-Yemaniy corner every time he walked around the House. During the seventh, the last shawt (walking around the House) he touched that corner and the Black Stone.

كَانَ أَبِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ع يَقِفُ عَلَى قَبْرِ النَّبِيِّ ص فَيُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْهِ وَ يَشْهَدُ لَهُ بِالْبَلَاغِ وَ يَدْعُو بِمَا حَضَرَهُ ثُمَّ يُسْنِدُ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَى الْمَرْوَةِ الْخَضْرَاءِ الدَّقِيقَةِ الْعَرْضِ‌[3] مِمَّا يَلِي الْقَبْرَ وَ يَلْتَزِقُ بِالْقَبْرِ وَ يُسْنِدُ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَى الْقَبْرِ وَ يَسْتَقْبِلُ الْقِبْلَةَ فَيَقُولُ- اللَّهُمَّ إِلَيْكَ أَلْجَأْتُ ظَهْرِي‌[4] وَ إِلَى قَبْرِ مُحَم

قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‌ صُمِ الْأَرْبِعَاءَ وَ الْخَمِيسَ وَ الْجُمُعَةَ وَ صَلِّ لَيْلَةَ الْأَرْبِعَاءِ وَ يَوْمَ الْأَرْبِعَاءِ عِنْدَ الْأُسْطُوَانَةِ الَّتِي تَلِي رَأْسَ النَّبِيِّ ص وَ لَيْلَةَ الْخَمِيسِ وَ يَوْمَ الْخَمِيسِ عِنْدَ أُسْطُوَانَةِ أَبِي لُبَابَةَ[3] وَ لَيْلَةَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ عِنْدَ الْأُسْطُوَانَةِ الَّتِي تَلِي مَقَامَ النَّبِيِّ ص وَ ادْعُ بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ لِحَاجَت

يَقُولُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَلِيَّ اللَّهِ أَنْتَ أَوَّلُ مَظْلُومٍ وَ أَوَّلُ مَنْ غُصِبَ حَقَّهُ صَبَرْتَ وَ احْتَسَبْتَ حَتَّى أَتَاكَ الْيَقِينُ فَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ لَقِيتَ اللَّهَ وَ أَنْتَ شَهِيدٌ عَذَّبَ اللَّهُ قَاتِلَكَ بِأَنْوَاعِ الْعَذَابِ وَ جَدَّدَ عَلَيْهِ الْعَذَابَ جِئْتُكَ عَارِفاً بِحَقِّكَ مُسْتَبْصِراً بِشَأْنِكَ مُعَادِياً لِأَعْدَائِكَ وَ مَنْ ظَلَمَكَ أَلْقَى عَلَى ذَلِكَ رَبِّي إِنْ شَاءَ

قَالَ لِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع وَ هُوَ بِالْحِيرَةِ أَ مَا تُرِيدُ مَا وَعَدْتُكَ قُلْتُ بَلَى يَعْنِي الذَّهَابَ إِلَى قَبْرِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ فَرَكِبَ وَ رَكِبَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ وَ رَكِبْتُ مَعَهُمَا حَتَّى إِذَا جَازَ الثُّوَيَّةَ[1] وَ كَانَ بَيْنَ الْحِيرَةِ وَ النَّجَفِ عِنْدَ ذَكَوَاتٍ بِيضٍ‌[2] نَزَلَ وَ نَزَلَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ وَ نَزَلْتُ مَعَهُمَا فَصَلَّى وَ صَلَّى إِسْمَاع

اسْتَأْذَنْتُ عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع فَقِيلَ لِي ادْخُلْ فَدَخَلْتُ فَوَجَدْتُهُ فِي مُصَلَّاهُ فِي بَيْتِهِ فَجَلَسْتُ حَتَّى قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ فَسَمِعْتُهُ وَ هُوَ يُنَاجِي رَبَّهُ وَ يَقُولُ- يَا مَنْ خَصَّنَا بِالْكَرَامَةِ وَ خَصَّنَا بِالْوَصِيَّةِ وَ وَعَدَنَا الشَّفَاعَةَ وَ أَعْطَانَا عِلْمَ مَا مَضَى وَ مَا بَقِيَ وَ جَعَلَ أَفْئِدَةً مِنَ النَّاسِ تَهْوِي إِلَيْنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَ لِإِخْوَانِي وَ لِزُوّ
