أَرْسَلْتُ إِلَى أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ع أَنَّ أَخاً لِي اشْتَرَى حَمَاماً مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ فَذَهَبْنَا بِهَا إِلَى مَكَّةَ فَاعْتَمَرْنَا وَ أَقَمْنَا إِلَى الْحَجِّ ثُمَّ أَخْرَجْنَا الْحَمَامَ مَعَنَا مِنْ مَكَّةَ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ فَعَلَيْنَا فِي ذَلِكَ شَيْ‌ءٌ قَالَ لِلرَّسُولِ إِنِّي أَظُنُّهُنَّ كُنَّ فُرْهَةً[3] قَالَ لَهُ يَذْبَحُ مَكَانَ كُلِّ طَيْرٍ شَاةً.

“I once sent a message to abu al-Hassan (a.s.), that my brother had purchased pigeons from al-Madinah and we went to Makkah for ‘Umrah. We stayed for Hajj, then we took the pigeon with us from Makkah to al-Kufah; if we owe anything. He (the Imam) said to the messenger, ‘I think they were beautiful.’ He (the Imam) said

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع أُهْدِيَ لَنَا طَائِرٌ مَذْبُوحٌ بِمَكَّةَ فَأَكَلَهُ أَهْلُنَا فَقَالَ لَا يَرَى بِهِ أَهْلُ مَكَّةَ بَأْساً قُلْتُ فَأَيُّ شَيْ‌ءٍ تَقُولُ أَنْتَ قَالَ عَلَيْهِمْ ثَمَنُهُ.

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a slaughtered bird given to us as gift in Makkah, if I can use it for food with my family. He (the Imam) said, ‘People of Makkah do not think it is harmful.’ I then asked, ‘What do you say about it?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘They owe its prices.’”

“I, once, was sitting near abu Ja’far (a.s.), while he was sitting in an Ihtiba’ position (holding one’s knees against one’s belly with one’s arms or a piece of cloth) facing al-Ka’bah. إِنَّ لِلَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى حَوْلَ الْكَعْبَةِ عِشْرِينَ وَ مِائَةَ رَحْمَةٍ مِنْهَا سِتُّونَ لِلطَّائِفِينَ وَ أَرْبَعُونَ لِلْمُصَلِّينَ وَ عِشْرُونَ لِلنَّاظِرِينَ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that Allah, the most Blessed, the most High, has one hundred twenty blessings around al-Ka’bah of which sixty are for those who perform Tawaf, forty for those who perform salat (prayer) and twenty for those who look at al-Ka’bah.’”

مَنْ نَظَرَ إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ لَمْ يَزَلْ تُكْتَبُ لَهُ حَسَنَةٌ وَ تُمْحَى عَنْهُ سَيِّئَةٌ حَتَّى يَنْصَرِفَ بِبَصَرِهِ عَنْهَا.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that as long as one keeps looking at al-Ka’bah, one good deed is written for him and one bad deed is deleted until he turns away from looking at al-Ka’bah.”

النَّظَرُ إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ عِبَادَةٌ وَ النَّظَرُ إِلَى الْوَالِدَيْنِ عِبَادَةٌ وَ النَّظَرُ إِلَى الْإِمَامِ عِبَادَةٌ وَ قَالَ مَنْ نَظَرَ إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ كُتِبَتْ لَهُ حَسَنَةٌ وَ مُحِيَتْ عَنْهُ عَشْرُ سَيِّئَاتٍ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that looking at al-Ka’bah is an act of worship; looking at parents is an act of worship; and looking at the Imam is an act of worship. For one’s looking at al- Ka’bah, one good deed is written for him and ten of his bad deeds are deleted.”

مَنْ نَظَرَ إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ بِمَعْرِفَةٍ فَعَرَفَ مِنْ حَقِّنَا وَ حُرْمَتِنَا مِثْلَ الَّذِي عَرَفَ مِنْ حَقِّهَا وَ حُرْمَتِهَا غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ ذُنُوبَهُ وَ كَفَاهُ هَمَّ الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ.

“The one who looks at the Kabah with an understanding, so he recognises from our rights and our sanctity, is like the one who recognises from it (Kabah’s) rights, and its Sanctity. Allah would Forgive for him his sins, and suffice him for the concerns of the world and the Hereafter.“

إِنَّ قَوْماً أَقْبَلُوا مِنْ مِصْرٍ فَمَاتَ مِنْهُمْ رَجُلٌ فَأَوْصَى بِأَلْفِ دِرْهَمٍ لِلْكَعْبَةِ فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ الْوَصِيُّ مَكَّةَ سَأَلَ فَدَلُّوهُ عَلَى بَنِي شَيْبَةَ فَأَتَاهُمْ فَأَخْبَرَهُمُ الْخَبَرَ فَقَالُوا قَدْ بَرِئَتْ ذِمَّتُكَ ادْفَعْهَا إِلَيْنَا فَقَامَ الرَّجُلُ فَسَأَلَ النَّاسَ فَدَلُّوهُ عَلَى أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ع قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع فَأَتَانِي فَسَأَلَنِي فَقُلْتُ لَهُ

“I heard abu Ja’far (a.s.), say, ‘A people were coming from Egypt, and on the way one of them died, who had said in his will to donate one thousand dirham to al-Ka‘bah. The executor of the will, on his arrival in Makkah, asked and he was directed to banu Shaybah. He went and informed them about the donation. They said,

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع فَقَالَ إِنِّي أَهْدَيْتُ جَارِيَةً إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ فَأُعْطِيتُ بِهَا خَمْسَمِائَةِ دِينَارٍ فَمَا تَرَى قَالَ بِعْهَا ثُمَّ خُذْ ثَمَنَهَا ثُمَّ قُمْ عَلَى حَائِطِ الْحِجْرِ ثُمَّ نَادِ وَ أَعْطِ كُلَّ مُنْقَطَعٍ بِهِ وَ كُلَّ مُحْتَاجٍ مِنَ الْحَاجِّ.

دَفَعَتْ إِلَيَّ امْرَأَةٌ غَزْلًا فَقَالَتِ ادْفَعْهُ بِمَكَّةَ لِيُخَاطَ بِهِ كِسْوَةُ الْكَعْبَةِ فَكَرِهْتُ أَنْ أَدْفَعَهُ إِلَى الْحَجَبَةِ وَ أَنَا أَعْرِفُهُمْ فَلَمَّا صِرْتُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع فَقُلْتُ لَهُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ إِنَّ امْرَأَةً أَعْطَتْنِي غَزْلًا وَ أَمَرَتْنِي أَنْ أَدْفَعَهُ بِمَكَّةَ لِيُخَاطَ بِهِ كِسْوَةُ الْكَعْبَةِ فَكَرِهْتُ أَنْ أَدْفَعَهُ إِلَى الْحَجَبَةِ

قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‌ إِنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ أَوَّلُ مَنْ عَلَّقَ عَلَى بَابِهِ مِصْرَاعَيْنِ بِمَكَّةَ فَمَنَعَ حَاجَّ بَيْتِ اللَّهِ مَا قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ- سَواءً الْعاكِفُ فِيهِ وَ الْبادِ[1] وَ كَانَ النَّاسُ إِذَا قَدِمُوا مَكَّةَ نَزَلَ الْبَادِي عَلَى الْحَاضِرِ حَتَّى يَقْضِيَ حَجَّهُ وَ كَانَ مُعَاوِيَةُ صَاحِبَ السِّلْسِلَةِ الَّتِي قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى‌ فِي سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُها سَبْعُونَ ذِر

لَمْ يَحُجَّ النَّبِيُّ ص بَعْدَ قُدُومِهِ الْمَدِينَةَ إِلَّا وَاحِدَةً وَ قَدْ حَجَّ بِمَكَّةَ مَعَ قَوْمِهِ حِجَّاتٍ.

‘The Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, performed only one hajj from al- Madinah; however, he had performed al-Hajj many times when in Makkah along with his people.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, mentioned al- Hajj. اعْتَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص ثَلَاثَ عُمَرٍ مُفْتَرِقَاتٍ عُمْرَةً فِي ذِي الْقَعْدَةِ أَهَلَّ مِنْ عُسْفَانَ وَ هِيَ عُمْرَةُ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ وَ عُمْرَةً أَهَلَّ مِنَ الْجُحْفَةِ وَ هِيَ عُمْرَةُ الْقَضَاءِ وَ عُمْرَةً أَهَلَّ مِنَ الْجِعْرَانَةِ بَعْدَ مَا رَجَعَ مِنَ الطَّائِفِ مِنْ غَزْوَةِ حُنَيْنٍ‌[2].
