قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‌ فِي الرَّجُلِ إِذَا أَدْرَكَ الْإِمَامَ وَ هُوَ رَاكِعٌ فَكَبَّرَ وَ هُوَ مُقِيمٌ صُلْبَهُ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَرْفَعَ الْإِمَامُ رَأْسَهُ فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If a man finds the Imam in Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees), says Takbir (Allah is great beyond description) while his back is straight and performs Ruku‘ before the Imam raises his head, has joined for one Rak‘at.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who leads Salah (prayer) with a people and performs one Rak‘at; then he dies. He (the Imam) said, ‘They make another man to lead and count it as one Rak‘at, leave the dead body behind them and then take Ghusl (bath) for touching a dead body.’”

سَأَلْتُهُ‌[1] عَنِ الرَّجُلِ صَلَّى مَعَ قَوْمٍ وَ هُوَ يَرَى أَنَّهَا الْأُولَى وَ كَانَتِ الْعَصْرَ قَالَ فَلْيَجْعَلْهَا الْأُولَى وَ لْيُصَلِّ الْعَصْرَ[2]. - وَ فِي حَدِيثٍ آخَرَ فَإِنْ عَلِمَ أَنَّهُمْ فِي صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ صَلَّى الْأُولَى فَلَا يَدْخُلْ مَعَهُمْ‌

قُلْتُ لَهُ‌[1] الرَّجُلُ يَتَأَخَّرُ وَ هُوَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ لَا[2] قُلْتُ فَيَتَقَدَّمُ قَالَ نَعَمْ مَا شَاءَ إِلَى الْقِبْلَةِ.

“I once asked him (the Imam) (a.s.), ‘Can a man move backward in Salah (prayer)?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘No, he cannot do so.’ I then asked, ‘Can he move forward?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, as much as he wants to al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah).’”

إِنْ صَلَّى قَوْمٌ وَ بَيْنَهُمْ وَ بَيْنَ الْإِمَامِ مَا لَا يُتَخَطَّى فَلَيْسَ ذَلِكَ الْإِمَامُ لَهُمْ بِإِمَامٍ وَ أَيُّ صَفٍّ كَانَ أَهْلُهُ يُصَلُّونَ بِصَلَاةِ إِمَامٍ وَ بَيْنَهُمْ وَ بَيْنَ الصَّفِّ الَّذِي يَتَقَدَّمُهُمْ قَدْرَ مَا لَا يُتَخَطَّى فَلَيْسَ تِلْكَ لَهُمْ فَإِنْ كَانَ بَيْنَهُمْ سُتْرَةٌ أَوْ جِدَارٌ فَلَيْسَتْ تِلْكَ لَهُمْ بِصَلَاةٍ إِلَّا مَنْ كَانَ مِنْ حِيَالِ الْبَابِ قَالَ وَ قَالَ هَ

إِذَا دَخَلْتَ الْمَسْجِدَ وَ الْإِمَامُ رَاكِعٌ فَظَنَنْتَ أَنَّكَ إِنْ مَشَيْتَ إِلَيْهِ يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تُدْرِكَهُ فَكَبِّرْ وَ ارْكَعْ وَ إِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَاسْجُدْ مَكَانَكَ فَإِنْ قَامَ فَالْحَقْ بِالصَّفِّ وَ إِنْ جَلَسَ فَاجْلِسْ مَكَانَكَ فَإِذَا قَامَ فَالْحَقْ بِالصَّفِّ.

قَالَ الرِّضَا ع‌ كُلُّ طَرِيقٍ يُوطَأُ وَ يُتَطَرَّقُ كَانَتْ فِيهِ جَادَّةٌ أَوْ لَمْ تَكُنْ لَا يَنْبَغِي الصَّلَاةُ فِيهِ قُلْتُ فَأَيْنَ أُصَلِّي قَالَ يَمْنَةً وَ يَسْرَةً.

“Al-Rida’ (a.s.), has said, ‘Do not perform Salah (prayer) on any road which is used, regardless, it has a main path or not. It is not proper to perform Salah (prayer) on it.’ I then asked, ‘Where then one can perform Salah (prayer)?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘On its right or left sides.’”

عَشَرَةُ مَوَاضِعَ لَا يُصَلَّى فِيهَا الطِّينُ وَ الْمَاءُ وَ الْحَمَّامُ وَ الْقُبُورُ وَ مَسَانُّ الطَّرِيقِ‌[3] وَ قُرَى النَّمْلِ وَ مَعَاطِنُ الْإِبِلِ وَ مَجْرَى الْمَاءِ وَ السَّبَخُ وَ الثَّلْجُ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Salah (prayer) is not performed in ten places, such as in clay, water, bath houses, on graves, on main roads, ant’s colonies, camel’s barns, water beds, salt grounds and on snow.’”

He (the Imam) said, ‘If he stands up there is no al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah) for him; however, he lies down on his back and opens his eyes to the sky and keeps in his heart al-Qiblah which is in the heaven, al-B

I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who leads a people in Salah (prayer) wearing a shirt without a gown. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not proper for him to perform Salah (prayer) without a gown or turban to dress up with.’”
