قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع مَا تَقُولُ فِي رَجُلٍ سَبَّابَةٍ لِعَلِيٍّ ع قَالَ فَقَالَ لِي حَلَالُ الدَّمِ وَ اللَّهِ‌ لَوْ لَا أَنْ تَعُمَّ بِهِ بَرِيئاً[1] قَالَ فَقُلْتُ فَمَا تَقُولُ فِي رَجُلٍ مُؤْذٍ لَنَا قَالَ فَقَالَ فِيمَا ذَا قُلْتُ مُؤْذِينَا فِيكَ بِذِكْرِكَ قَالَ فَقَالَ لِي لَهُ فِي عَلِيٍّ ع نَصِيبٌ قُلْتُ إِنَّهُ لَيَقُولُ ذَاكَ وَ يُظْهِرُهُ قَالَ لَا تَعَرَّضْ لَهُ.

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع رَجُلٌ قَتَلَ رَجُلًا مُتَعَمِّداً مَا تَوْبَتُهُ قَالَ يُمَكِّنُ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ قُلْتُ يَخَافُ أَنْ يَقْتُلُوهُ قَالَ فَلْيُعْطِهِمُ الدِّيَةَ قُلْتُ يَخَافُ أَنْ يَعْلَمُوا بِذَلِكَ قَالَ فَلْيَنْظُرْ إِلَى الدِّيَةِ فَلْيَجْعَلْهَا صُرَراً ثُمَّ لْيَنْظُرْ مَوَاقِيتَ الصَّلَوَاتِ فَلْيُلْقِهَا فِي دَارِهِمْ‌[2].

He does not know its limits, and so he does not appoint any witness to the deal, saying that when the limits are defined then witnesses are appointed; if it is permissible to bear witness or not.
