وَ كَانَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع يَبْكِي إِذَا ذَكَرَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ.

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع أَ يُفْلِتُ[1] مِنْ ضَغْطَةِ الْقَبْرِ أَحَدٌ قَالَ فَقَالَ نَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْهَا مَا أَقَلَّ مَنْ يُفْلِتُ مِنْ ضَغْطَةِ الْقَبْرِ إِنَّ رُقَيَّةَ لَمَّا قَتَلَهَا عُثْمَانُ وَقَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص عَلَى قَبْرِهَا فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَدَمَعَتْ عَيْنَاهُ وَ قَالَ لِلنَّاسِ إِنِّي ذَكَرْتُ هَذِهِ وَ مَا لَقِيَتْ فَرَقَقْتُ لَهَا وَ اسْتَوْهَبْتُهَا مِنْ ضَمَّةِ الْ

إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ إِذَا أُخْرِجَ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ شَيَّعَتْهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ إِلَى قَبْرِهِ يَزْدَحِمُونَ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى إِذَا انْتَهَى بِهِ إِلَى قَبْرِهِ قَالَتْ لَهُ الْأَرْضُ مَرْحَباً بِكَ وَ أَهْلًا أَمَا وَ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ كُنْتُ أُحِبُّ أَنْ يَمْشِيَ عَلَيَّ مِثْلُكَ لَتَرَيَنَّ مَا أَصْنَعُ بِكَ فَتَوَسَّعُ لَهُ مَدَّ بَصَرِهِ وَ يَدْخُلُ عَلَيْهِ فِي قَبْرِهِ مَلَكَا الْقَبْرِ وَ هُمَا قَعِيدَا الْقَبْرِ مُنْك

لَمَّا مَاتَتْ رُقَيَّةُ ابْنَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص الْحَقِي بِسَلَفِنَا الصَّالِحِ- عُثْمَانَ بْنِ مَظْعُونٍ وَ أَصْحَابِهِ قَالَ وَ فَاطِمَةُ ع عَلَى شَفِيرِ الْقَبْرِ تَنْحَدِرُ دُمُوعُهَا فِي الْقَبْرِ وَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص يَتَلَقَّاهُ بِثَوْبِهِ[2] قَائِماً يَدْعُو قَالَ إِنِّي لَأَعْرِفُ ضَعْفَهَا وَ سَأَلْتُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَنْ يُجِيرَهَا مِنْ ضَمَّةِ الْقَبْرِ.

شَكَوْتُ إِلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع وَجْداً وَجَدْتُهُ[1] عَلَى ابْنٍ لِي هَلَكَ حَتَّى خِفْتُ عَلَى عَقْلِي فَقَالَ إِذَا أَصَابَكَ مِنْ هَذَا شَيْءٌ فَأَفِضْ مِنْ دُمُوعِكَ فَإِنَّهُ يَسْكُنُ عَنْكَ.
“I complained before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about feeling extremely sad for the death of my son and I feared for my sanity. He said, ‘When something like this happens, allow your tears to flow; it gives you relief.’”
لَمَّا مَاتَ ذَرُّ بْنُ أَبِي ذَرٍّ مَسَحَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ الْقَبْرَ بِيَدِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَحِمَكَ اللَّهُ يَا ذَرُّ وَ اللَّهِ إِنْ كُنْتَ بِي بَارّاً وَ لَقَدْ قُبِضْتَ وَ إِنِّي عَنْكَ لَرَاضٍ أَمَا وَ اللَّهِ مَا بِي فَقْدُكَ وَ مَا عَلَيَّ مِنْ غَضَاضَةٍ[3] وَ مَا لِي إِلَى أَحَدٍ سِوَى اللَّهِ مِنْ حَاجَةٍ وَ لَوْ لَا هَوْلُ الْمُطَّلَعِ[4] لَسَرَّنِي أَنْ أَكُونَ مَكَانَكَ وَ لَقَدْ شَغَلَنِي الْحُزْنُ لَكَ عَنِ
“When Dharr, son of abu Dharr passed away, abu Dharr wiped his grave with his hand and said, ‘May Allah grant you mercy, O Dharr, by Allah, you were kind to me and I am satisfied with you. By Allah, I am not disappointed due to your death and I do not need anyone beside Allah. Had it not been for fear from the next lif
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ الْأَوَّلَ ع يَقُولُ إِذَا مَاتَ الْمُؤْمِنُ بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَ بِقَاعُ الْأَرْضِ الَّتِي كَانَ يَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ عَلَيْهَا وَ أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ الَّتِي كَانَ يُصْعَدُ أَعْمَالُهُ فِيهَا وَ ثُلِمَ ثُلْمَةٌ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ[2] لَا يَسُدُّهَا شَيْءٌ لِأَنَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ حُصُونُ الْإِسْلَامِ كَحُصُونِ سُورِ الْمَدِينَةِ لَهَا.

سَمِعَ النَّبِيُّ ص امْرَأَةً حِينَ مَاتَ- عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مَظْعُونٍ وَ هِيَ تَقُولُ هَنِيئاً لَكَ يَا أَبَا السَّائِبِ الْجَنَّةُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ص وَ مَا عِلْمُكِ حَسْبُكِ أَنْ تَقُولِي كَانَ يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ رَسُولَهُ فَلَمَّا مَاتَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ[4] ابْنُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص هَمَلَتْ[5] عَيْنُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص بِالدُّمُوعِ ثُمَّ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ص تَدْمَعُ الْعَيْنُ وَ يَحْزَنُ الْقَلْبُ وَ لَا
The Prophet (sw) heard a woman when 'Uthman ibn Maz'un died, saying, "Congratulations to you, O Abu al-Sa'ib, for the Paradise." The Prophet (sw) said, "How do you know? كَانَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ص إِذَا قَامَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ تَغَيَّرَ لَوْنُهُ فَإِذَا سَجَدَ لَمْ يَرْفَعْ رَأْسَهُ حَتَّى يَرْفَضَّ عَرَقاً.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that when Ali ibn al-Husayn (a.s.), would stand up for Salah (prayer), the color of his face change and in sajdah he remained so long until (his face) became drenched with perspiration (and tears).”
قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع أَ يَتَبَاكَى الرَّجُلُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ بَخْ بَخْ وَ لَوْ مِثْلَ رَأْسِ الذُّبَابِ.
“I asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘Can a person weep during Salah (prayer)?’ The Imam replied, ‘It is a matter of great congratulations even if it (tears) is of the size of the head of a fly.’”
خَرَجْتُ مَعَ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ مُوسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ع إِلَى بَعْضِ أَمْوَالِهِ فَقَامَ إِلَى صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ خَرَّ لِلَّهِ سَاجِداً فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ بِصَوْتٍ حَزِينٍ وَ تَغَرْغَرُ دُمُوعُهُ[1]- رَبِّ عَصَيْتُكَ بِلِسَانِي وَ لَوْ شِئْتَ وَ عِزَّتِكَ لَأَخْرَسْتَنِي وَ عَصَيْتُكَ بِبَصَرِي وَ لَوْ شِئْتَ وَ عِزَّتِكَ لَأَكْمَهْتَنِي وَ عَصَيْتُكَ بِسَمْعِي وَ لَوْ شِئْتَ وَ عِزَّتِكَ لَأَصْمَمْتَ
“Once I accompanied abu al-Hassan, Musa ibn Ja‘far, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, to see some of his properties. He readied himself for noontime Salah (prayer). قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ هَذَا الَّذِي ظَهَرَ بِوَجْهِي يَزْعُمُ النَّاسُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ لَمْ يَبْتَلِ بِهِ عَبْداً لَهُ فِيهِ حَاجَةٌ فَقَالَ لَا قَدْ كَانَ مُؤْمِنُ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ مُكَتَّعَ الْأَصَابِعِ[1] فَكَانَ يَقُولُ هَكَذَا وَ يَمُدُّ يَدَهُ وَ يَقُولُ يا قَوْمِ اتَّبِعُوا الْمُرْسَلِينَ قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي إِذَا كَانَ الثُّلُثُ الْأَخِيرُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فِي أَوَّلِهِ فَتَوَضَّأْ

تَمْسَحُ بِيَدِكَ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى جَبْهَتِكَ وَ وَجْهِكَ فِي دُبُرِ الْمَغْرِبِ وَ الصَّلَوَاتِ وَ تَقُولُ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَالِمِ الْغَيْبِ وَ الشَّهَادَةِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَ الْحَزَنِ وَ السُّقْمِ وَ الْعُدْمِ[2] وَ الصَّغَارِ وَ الذُّلِّ وَ الْفَوَاحِشِ ما ظَهَرَ مِنْها وَ ما بَطَنَ*.

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ بَعَثَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ص مُصَدِّقاً مِنَ الْكُوفَةِ إِلَى بَادِيَتِهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ انْطَلِقْ وَ عَلَيْكَ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَ لَا تُؤْثِرَنَّ دُنْيَاكَ عَلَى آخِرَتِكَ وَ كُنْ حَافِظاً لِمَا ائْتَمَنْتُكَ عَلَيْهِ رَاعِياً لِحَقِّ اللَّهِ فِيهِ حَتَّى تَأْتِيَ نَادِيَ بَنِي فُلَانٍ[2] فَإِذَا قَدِمْتَ فَانْزِلْ بِمَائِهِمْ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص كُلُّ مَعْرُوفٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَ الدَّالُّ عَلَى الْخَيْرِ كَفَاعِلِهِ وَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يُحِبُّ إِغَاثَةَ اللَّهْفَانِ.

سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنْ صَوْمِ تَاسُوعَاءَ وَ عَاشُورَاءَ مِنْ شَهْرِ الْمُحَرَّمِ فَقَالَ تَاسُوعَاءُ يَوْمٌ حُوصِرَ فِيهِ الْحُسَيْنُ ع وَ أَصْحَابُهُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ بِكَرْبَلَاءَ وَ اجْتَمَعَ عَلَيْهِ خَيْلُ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ وَ أَنَاخُوا عَلَيْهِ[1] وَ فَرِحَ ابْنُ مَرْجَانَةَ وَ عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ بِتَوَافُرِ الْخَيْلِ وَ كَثْرَتِهَا وَ اسْتَضْعَفُوا فِيهِ الْحُسَيْنَ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَي
“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the fast on the day of ‘Ashura’ of the month of Muharram. He (the Imam) said, ‘Tasu‘a’ (ninth of Muharram) was the day when they had surrounded al-Husayn (a.s.), and his friends, may Allah be pleased with them, in Karbala’. رَأَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص فِي مَنَامِهِ بَنِي أُمَيَّةَ يَصْعَدُونَ عَلَى مِنْبَرِهِ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ وَ يُضِلُّونَ النَّاسَ عَنِ الصِّرَاطِ الْقَهْقَرَى فَأَصْبَحَ كَئِيباً حَزِيناً قَالَ فَهَبَطَ عَلَيْهِ جَبْرَئِيلُ ع فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا لِي أَرَاكَ كَئِيباً حَزِيناً قَالَ يَا جَبْرَئِيلُ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ بَنِي أُمَيَّةَ فِي لَيْلَتِي هَذِهِ يَصْعَدُونَ مِنْبَرِي مِنْ بَعْدِي وَ يُضِلُّونَ النَّاسَ عَنِ الصّ
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that in his dream, the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, saw banu ‘Umayyah climb on his pulpit after him and mislead people from the right path and take them backward. قَالَ: يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ مَا مِنْ عِيدٍ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ- أَضْحًى وَ لَا فِطْرٍ إِلَّا وَ هُوَ يُجَدِّدُ لآِلِ مُحَمَّدٍ فِيهِ حُزْناً قُلْتُ وَ لِمَ ذَاكَ قَالَ لِأَنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَ حَقَّهُمْ فِي يَدِ غَيْرِهِمْ.
“Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ‘O ‘Abdullah, there is no ‘Id for the Muslims, neither al-Adha’ nor al-Fitr, except that it renews sadness for the family of Muhammad.’ I then asked, ‘Why is it so?’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘Because they see their rights in the hands of others.”
سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع لِأَيِّ عِلَّةٍ وَضَعَ اللَّهُ الْحَجَرَ فِي الرُّكْنِ الَّذِي هُوَ فِيهِ وَ لَمْ يُوضَعْ فِي غَيْرِهِ وَ لِأَيِّ عِلَّةٍ تُقَبَّلُ وَ لِأَيِّ عِلَّةٍ أُخْرِجَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ وَ لِأَيِّ عِلَّةٍ وُضِعَ مِيثَاقُ الْعِبَادِ وَ الْعَهْدُ فِيهِ وَ لَمْ يُوضَعْ فِي غَيْرِهِ وَ كَيْفَ السَّبَبُ فِي ذَلِكَ تُخْبِرُنِي جَعَلَنِيَ اللَّهُ فِدَاكَ فَإِنَّ تَفَكُّرِي فِيهِ لَعَجَبٌ قَالَ فَقَالَ

أَمَرَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ع أَنْ يَحُجَّ وَ يُحِجَّ إِسْمَاعِيلَ مَعَهُ وَ يُسْكِنَهُ الْحَرَمَ فَحَجَّا عَلَى جَمَلٍ أَحْمَرَ وَ مَا مَعَهُمَا إِلَّا جَبْرَئِيلُ ع فَلَمَّا بَلَغَا الْحَرَمَ قَالَ لَهُ جَبْرَئِيلُ يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ انْزِلَا فَاغْتَسِلَا قَبْلَ أَنْ تَدْخُلَا الْحَرَمَ فَنَزَلَا فَاغْتَسَلَا وَ أَرَاهُمَا كَيْفَ يَتَهَيَّئَانِ لِلْإِحْرَامِ فَفَعَلَا ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُمَا فَأَهَلَّا بِالْ
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious, commanded Ibrahim (a.s.), to perform Hajj and that Isma‘il also perform Hajj along with him, and then settle him in the Sacred area. لَمَّا هَدَمَ الْحَجَّاجُ الْكَعْبَةَ فَرَّقَ النَّاسُ تُرَابَهَا فَلَمَّا صَارُوا إِلَى بِنَائِهَا فَأَرَادُوا أَنْ يَبْنُوهَا خَرَجَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ حَيَّةٌ فَمَنَعَتِ النَّاسَ الْبِنَاءَ حَتَّى هَرَبُوا فَأَتَوُا الْحَجَّاجَ فَأَخْبَرُوهُ فَخَافَ أَنْ يَكُونَ قَدْ مُنِعَ بِنَاءَهَا فَصَعِدَ الْمِنْبَرَ ثُمَّ نَشَدَ النَّاسَ وَ قَالَ أَنْشُدُ اللَّهَ عَبْداً[3] عِنْدَهُ مِمَّا ابْتُلِينَا بِهِ عِلْمٌ لَمَّا أَخْبَرَنَ

إِذَا خَرَجْتَ مِنْ بَيْتِكَ تُرِيدُ الْحَجَّ وَ الْعُمْرَةَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ فَادْعُ دُعَاءَ الْفَرَجِ وَ هُوَ- لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَ رَبِّ الْأَرَضِينَ السَّبْعِ وَ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعالَمِينَ* ثُمَّ قُلْ اللَّهُمَّ كُنْ لِي جَاراً مِنْ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ

دَخَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ وَ أَنَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ عَنْ مَسَائِلَ كَثِيرَةٍ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُهُ عَظُمَ عَلَيَّ كَلَامُهُ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ نَاوِلْنِي يَدَكَ أَوْ رِجْلَكَ أُقَبِّلُهَا فَنَاوَلَنِي يَدَهُ فَقَبَّلْتُهَا فَذَكَرْتُ قَوْلَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص فَدَمَعَتْ عَيْنَايَ فَلَمَّا رَآنِي مُطَأْطِئاً رَأْسِي قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَا مِنْ طَائِفٍ يَطُوفُ بِهَذَا الْبَيْتِ حِينَ تَزُولُ الشَّمْسُ حَاسِراً عَنْ ر
“I once visited the virtuous servant of Allah to ask him a great many questions. When I saw him, his words impressed me a great deal. I requested him to allow me to hold his hand or his foot to kiss. رَأَيْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ جُنْدَبٍ بِالْمَوْقِفِ فَلَمْ أَرَ مَوْقِفاً كَانَ أَحْسَنَ مِنْ مَوْقِفِهِ مَا زَالَ مَادّاً يَدَيْهِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ وَ دُمُوعُهُ تَسِيلُ عَلَى خَدَّيْهِ حَتَّى تَبْلُغَ الْأَرْضَ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ النَّاسُ قُلْتُ لَهُ يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ مَا رَأَيْتُ مَوْقِفاً قَطُّ أَحْسَنَ مِنْ مَوْقِفِكَ قَالَ وَ اللَّهِ مَا دَعَوْتُ إِلَّا لِإِخْوَانِي وَ ذَلِكَ أَنَّ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ مُوسَى بْنَ

كُنْتُ فِي الْمَوْقِفِ فَلَمَّا أَفَضْتُ لَقِيتُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنَ شُعَيْبٍ فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ وَ كَانَ مُصَاباً بِإِحْدَى عَيْنَيْهِ وَ إِذَا عَيْنُهُ الصَّحِيحَةُ حَمْرَاءُ كَأَنَّهَا عَلَقَةُ دَمٍ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ قَدْ أُصِبْتَ بِإِحْدَى عَيْنَيْكَ وَ أَنَا وَ اللَّهِ مُشْفِقٌ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى فَلَوْ قَصَرْتَ مِنَ الْبُكَاءِ قَلِيلًا فَقَالَ وَ اللَّهِ يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ مَا دَعَوْتُ لِنَفْسِيَ الْيَوْمَ بِدَعْوَة
“I was in al-Mawqaf (‘Arafat). When I left for al-Muzdalifah I met Ibrahim ibn Shu‘ayb. I offered him greeting of peace. He had trouble in one of his eyes and I found his trouble-free eye had turned red like a piece of blood clot. I said to him, ‘One of your eyes is damaged and I am afraid for your other eye. I wish yo
قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع أَقُومُ أُصَلِّي بِمَكَّةَ وَ الْمَرْأَةُ بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ جَالِسَةٌ أَوْ مَارَّةٌ فَقَالَ لَا بَأْسَ إِنَّمَا سُمِّيَتْ بَكَّةَ لِأَنَّهَا تُبَكُّ فِيهَا الرِّجَالُ وَ النِّسَاءُ.
‘It is not harmful. It is called Bakkah because men and women weep there.’”
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع لَا تَدَعْ إِتْيَانَ الْمَشَاهِدِ كُلِّهَا- مَسْجِدِ قُبَاءَ فَإِنَّهُ الْمَسْجِدُ الَّذِي أُسِّسَ عَلَى التَّقْوى مِنْ أَوَّلِ يَوْمٍ وَ مَشْرَبَةِ أُمِّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَ مَسْجِدِ الْفَضِيخِ وَ قُبُورِ الشُّهَدَاءِ وَ مَسْجِدِ الْأَحْزَابِ وَ هُوَ مَسْجِدُ الْفَتْحِ[1] قَالَ وَ بَلَغَنَا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ص كَانَ إِذَا أَتَى قُبُورَ الشُّهَدَاءِ قَالَ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ بِما صَبَر

سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع أَنَّا نَأْتِي الْمَسَاجِدَ الَّتِي حَوْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ فَبِأَيِّهَا أَبْدَأُ فَقَالَ ابْدَأْ بِقُبَا فَصَلِّ فِيهِ وَ أَكْثِرْ فَإِنَّهُ أَوَّلُ مَسْجِدٍ صَلَّى فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص فِي هَذِهِ الْعَرْصَةِ ثُمَّ ائْتِ مَشْرَبَةَ أُمِّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَصَلِّ فِيهَا وَ هِيَ مَسْكَنُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص وَ مُصَلَّاهُ ثُمَّ تَأْتِي مَسْجِدَ الْفَضِيخِ فَتُصَلِّي فِيهِ فَقَدْ صَلَّى فِيهِ نَ

دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع مَسْجِدَ الْفَضِيخِ فَقَالَ يَا عَمَّارُ تَرَى هَذِهِ الْوَهْدَةَ[1] قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ كَانَتِ امْرَأَةُ جَعْفَرٍ الَّتِي خَلَفَ[2] عَلَيْهَا أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع قَاعِدَةً فِي هَذَا الْمَوْضِعِ وَ مَعَهَا ابْنَاهَا مِنْ جَعْفَرٍ فَبَكَتْ فَقَالَ لَهَا ابْنَاهَا مَا يُبْكِيكِ يَا أُمَّهْ قَالَتْ بَكَيْتُ لِأَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع فَقَالا لَهَا تَبْكِينَ لِأَمِيرِ الْمُ

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ وَكَّلَ اللَّهُ بِقَبْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ ع أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ شُعْثٌ غُبْرٌ يَبْكُونَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ فَمَنْ زَارَهُ عَارِفاً بِحَقِّهِ شَيَّعُوهُ حَتَّى يُبْلِغُوهُ مَأْمَنَهُ وَ إِنْ مَرِضَ عَادُوهُ غُدْوَةً وَ عَشِيَّةً وَ إِنْ مَاتَ شَهِدُوا جَنَازَتَهُ وَ اسْتَغْفَرُوا لَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ.

قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع إِنَّ أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ عِنْدَ قَبْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ ع شُعْثٌ غُبْرٌ يَبْكُونَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ رَئِيسُهُمْ مَلَكٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ مَنْصُورٌ فَلَا يَزُورُهُ زَائِرٌ إِلَّا اسْتَقْبَلُوهُ وَ لَا يُوَدِّعُهُ مُوَدِّعٌ إِلَّا شَيَّعُوهُ وَ لَا مَرِضَ إِلَّا عَادُوهُ وَ لَا يَمُوتُ إِلَّا صَلَّوْا عَلَى جِنَازَتِهِ وَ اسْتَغْفَرُوا لَهُ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهِ.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Four thousand angels assigned for the grave of al- Husayn, Alayhi al-Salam, are untidy and dusty. They weep for him until the Day of Judgment. Their chief is an angel called Mansur. They welcome everyone who visits him and escort everyone who says farewell to him. They visit
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَا سَدِيرُ تَزُورُ قَبْرَ الْحُسَيْنِ ع فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ قُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ لَا قَالَ فَمَا أَجْفَاكُمْ قَالَ فَتَزُورُونَهُ فِي كُلِّ جُمْعَةٍ قُلْتُ لَا قَالَ فَتَزُورُونَهُ فِي كُلِّ شَهْرٍ قُلْتُ لَا قَالَ فَتَزُورُونَهُ فِي كُلِّ سَنَةٍ قُلْتُ قَدْ يَكُونُ ذَلِكَ قَالَ يَا سَدِيرُ مَا أَجْفَاكُمْ لِلْحُسَيْنِ ع أَ مَا عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَلْفَيْ أَلْفِ مَلَك
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once said, ‘O Sadir, do you visit the grave of al-Husayn (a.s.), every day?’ I replied, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, no, I do not visit every day.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘How harsh are your manners toward him!’ He (the Imam) then asked, ‘Do you visit him every Friday
قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّ الْجِهَادَ بَابٌ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ فَتَحَهُ اللَّهُ لِخَاصَّةِ أَوْلِيَائِهِ وَ سَوَّغَهُمْ كَرَامَةً مِنْهُ لَهُمْ وَ نِعْمَةٌ ذَخَرَهَا وَ الْجِهَادُ هُوَ لِبَاسُ التَّقْوَى وَ دِرْعُ اللَّهِ الْحَصِينَةُ وَ جُنَّتُهُ الْوَثِيقَةُ[2] فَمَنْ تَرَكَهُ رَغْبَةً عَنْهُ أَلْبَسَهُ اللَّهُ ثَوْبَ الذُّلِّ وَ شَمِلَهُ الْبَلَاءُ[3] وَ ف

أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي أَتَيْتُ هَؤُلَاءِ الْقَوْمَ وَ دَعَوْتُهُمْ وَ احْتَجَجْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ فَدَعَوْنِي إِلَى أَنْ أَصْبِرَ لِلْجِلَادِ وَ أَبْرُزَ لِلطِّعَانِ[1] فَلِأُمِّهِمُ الْهَبَلُ وَ قَدْ كُنْتُ وَ مَا أُهَدَّدُ بِالْحَرْبِ وَ لَا أُرْهَبُ بِالضَّرْبِ أَنْصَفَ الْقَارَةَ مَنْ رَامَاهَا[2] فَلِغَيْرِي فَلْيُبْرِقُوا وَ لْيُرْعِدُوا[3] فَأَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الَّذِي فَلَلْتُ حَدَّهُمْ وَ فَرَّقْتُ جَمَاعَت

He praised and glorified Allah; then said, ‘O people, I came to these people, called them and presented proof in support of my truthfulness. They then called me for a contest. لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ- يا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَ أَهْلِيكُمْ ناراً[2] جَلَسَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ يَبْكِي وَ قَالَ أَنَا عَجَزْتُ عَنْ نَفْسِي كُلِّفْتُ أَهْلِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص حَسْبُكَ أَنْ تَأْمُرَهُمْ بِمَا تَأْمُرُ بِهِ نَفْسَكَ وَ تَنْهَاهُمْ عَمَّا تَنْهَى عَنْهُ نَفْسَكَ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin, has said, ‘Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, sent revelations to Dawud (a.s.) that said, ‘You are a very good servant had you not been spending on yourself from the public treasury while doing no work with your own hands.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Dawud ‘Alayhi al
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ أَلَا إِنَّ الرُّوحَ الْأَمِينَ نَفَثَ فِي رُوعِي أَنَّهُ لَا تَمُوتُ نَفْسٌ حَتَّى تَسْتَكْمِلَ رِزْقَهَا فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ أَجْمِلُوا فِي الطَّلَبِ وَ لَا يَحْمِلَنَّكُمُ اسْتِبْطَاءُ شَيْءٍ مِنَ الرِّزْقِ أَنْ تَطْلُبُوهُ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى قَسَمَ الْأَرْزَاقَ بَيْنَ خَلْقِهِ حَلَالًا وَ لَمْ يَ
‘The Messenger of Allah during his farewell Hajj said, ‘The trustworthy spirit has inspired my understanding that no soul dies before its sustenance is complete (depleted). You must maintain piety before Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, be meticulous in your work to make a living. You must not allow procrastination
إِيَّاكُمْ وَ الدَّيْنَ فَإِنَّهُ مَذَلَّةٌ بِالنَّهَارِ وَ مَهَمَّةٌ بِاللَّيْلِ وَ قَضَاءٌ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ قَضَاءٌ فِي الْآخِرَةِ.
‘Beware of debts; it humiliates during the day and causes sadness during the night and it is payable both in this world and in the hereafter.’”
قَالَ لِي أَبِي يَا جَعْفَرُ أَوْقِفْ لِي مِنْ مَالِي كَذَا وَ كَذَا لِنَوَادِبَ تَنْدُبُنِي عَشْرَ سِنِينَ بِمِنًى أَيَّامَ مِنًى[1].
"My father said to me, ‘O Ja‘far, assign a certain amount from my so-and-so properties as endowment, so payments can be made to people who will eulogize to mourn for me in Mina for ten years.’”
مَاتَ الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ص إِنَّ آلَ الْمُغِيرَةِ قَدْ أَقَامُوا مَنَاحَةً فَأَذْهَبُ إِلَيْهِمْ فَأَذِنَ لَهَا فَلَبِسَتْ ثِيَابَهَا وَ تَهَيَّأَتْ وَ كَانَتْ مِنْ حُسْنِهَا كَأَنَّهَا جَانٌّ وَ كَانَتْ إِذَا قَامَتْ فَأَرْخَتْ شَعْرَهَا جَلَّلَ جَسَدَهَا[2] وَ عَقَدَتْ بِطَرَفَيْهِ خَلْخَالَهَا فَنَدَبَتِ ابْنَ عَمِّهَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص فَقَالَتْ- أَنْعَ

كَانَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مَعَنَا فِي الْحَيِّ وَ لَهَا جَارِيَةٌ نَائِحَةٌ فَجَاءَتْ إِلَى أَبِي فَقَالَتْ يَا عَمِّ أَنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مَعِيشَتِي مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ ثُمَّ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْجَارِيَةِ النَّائِحَةِ وَ قَدْ أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ تَسْأَلَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَإِنْ كَانَ حَلَالًا وَ إِلَّا بِعْتُهَا وَ أَكَلْتُ مِنْ ثَمَنِهَا حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ اللَّهُ بِالْفَرَجِ فَقَالَ لَهَا أَبِي وَ اللَّهِ
“In our neighborhood there was a woman who had a slave-girl who sang eulogies. She came to my father and said, ‘O Uncle, you know about my means of living from Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, and then it is from this slave-girl’s singing eulogies. سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع وَ قَدْ سُئِلَ عَنْ كَسْبِ النَّائِحَةِ قَالَ تَسْتَحِلُّهُ بِضَرْبِ إِحْدَى يَدَيْهَا عَلَى الْأُخْرَى.
“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, when he was asked about the income from eulogies, ‘She can make it lawful by tapping one of her hands against the other.’”
لَمَّا هَلَكَ أَبِي سَيَابَةُ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ إِخْوَانِهِ إِلَيَّ فَضَرَبَ الْبَابَ عَلَيَّ فَخَرَجْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَعَزَّانِي وَ قَالَ لِي هَلْ تَرَكَ أَبُوكَ شَيْئاً فَقُلْتُ لَهُ لَا فَدَفَعَ إِلَيَّ كِيساً فِيهِ أَلْفُ دِرْهَمٍ وَ قَالَ لِي أَحْسِنْ حِفْظَهَا وَ كُلْ فَضْلَهَا فَدَخَلْتُ إِلَى أُمِّي وَ أَنَا فَرِحٌ فَأَخْبَرْتُهَا فَلَمَّا كَانَ بِالْعَشِيِّ أَتَيْتُ صَدِيقاً كَانَ لِأَبِي فَاشْتَرَى لِي بَضَائِع
“When my father, Sayabah, passed away, one of his brothers came to me and knocked at the door. I went out to meet him. سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص بِسَبْيٍ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ فَلَمَّا بَلَغُوا الْجُحْفَةَ نَفِدَتْ نَفَقَاتُهُمْ فَبَاعُوا جَارِيَةً مِنَ السَّبْيِ كَانَتْ أُمُّهَا مَعَهُمْ فَلَمَّا قَدِمُوا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ص سَمِعَ بُكَاءَهَا فَقَالَ مَا هَذِهِ الْبُكَاءُ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ احْتَجْنَا إِلَى نَفَقَةٍ فَبِعْنَا ابْنَتَهَا فَبَعَثَ بِثَمَنِهَا فَأُتِيَ بِهَا وَ قَالَ بِيعُوهُم
“I heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘Once captives were brought to the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, from Yemen. When they arrived at al-Juhfah, their supplies depleted and they sold one girl from the captives whose mother was with
لَمَّا زَوَّجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص- عَلِيّاً فَاطِمَةَ ع دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا وَ هِيَ تَبْكِي فَقَالَ لَهَا مَا يُبْكِيكِ فَوَ اللَّهِ لَوْ كَانَ فِي أَهْلِي خَيْرٌ مِنْهُ مَا زَوَّجْتُكِهِ وَ مَا أَنَا زَوَّجْتُهُ وَ لَكِنَّ اللَّهَ زَوَّجَكِ وَ أَصْدَقَ عَنْكِ الْخُمُسَ مَا دَامَتِ السَّمَاوَاتُ وَ الْأَرْضُ.

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع إِنَّا أَهْلُ بَيْتٍ كَبِيرٍ فَرُبَّمَا كَانَ الْفَرَحُ وَ الْحَزَنُ الَّذِي يَجْتَمِعُ فِيهِ الرِّجَالُ وَ النِّسَاءُ فَرُبَّمَا اسْتَحْيَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ أَنْ تَكْشِفَ رَأْسَهَا عِنْدَ الرَّجُلِ الَّذِي بَيْنَهَا وَ بَيْنَهُ الرَّضَاعُ وَ رُبَّمَا اسْتَخَفَّ الرَّجُلُ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى ذَلِكَ فَمَا الَّذِي يُحَرِّمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعِ فَقَالَ مَا أَنْبَتَ اللَّحْمَ وَ الدَّمَ فَقُلْتُ و
